Weekly Questions Thread: October 12, 2026

Hello everyone and welcome to our new weekly feature.

In order to help keep the quality of the discussion here at a high level, we have several rules regarding submitting content to /r/nbadiscussion. But we also understand that while not everyone's questions will meet these requirements that doesn't mean they don't deserve the same attention and high-level discussion that /r/nbadiscussion is known for. So, to better serve the community the mod team here has decided to implement this Weekly Questions Thread which will be automatically posted every Monday at 8AM EST.

Please use this thread to ask any questions about the NBA and basketball that don't necessarily warrant their own submissions. Thank you.

Yo, maybe dumb question but in the modern game, is there any real place for a pure post-up center anymore, or is it all just pick and roll and shooting now?

There is; you just have to be Jokic/Embiid–level good at it and have other strings to your bow, like defence and shooting.

I used to feel like I had a grip on what's out there, but now I'm out of the loop. What are your favorite resources (sites, blogs, podcasts, youtube channels, whatever) for understanding basketball?

Daniel Li on YouTube has the best breakdowns imo.

Thinking Basketball on YouTube and the podcast are the best in depth analysis.
