Community 🏡 Crisp chilly morning walk
I noticed a heavy police presence and a mobile prescient at market and broad intersection.

Early voting: October 24 – November 1
You can vote early at any designated early-voting location in Essex County!

It literally feels like every other area in the north wants to be NY and down south wants to be Philadelphia. Especially when it comes to sports. Even in Jersey city, maybe it’s because of the transplants from everywhere in the country that move here, but idk. When the topic of sports comes up, most newark natives I know are completely onboard to have a Jersey team, but everyone else wants to root for the city teams next to us, and I wish all of Jersey had that mindset or pride. This state has gotten the reputation of being second fiddle but Newark truly defies that I feel.

If Jersey City can put a whole ShopRite on the second floor of a building… JUST MAYBE we could get a Trader Joe’s in the retail section of Iconiq777?!? 🤔😂 Is it really too much to ask?

I made https://dankdetour.com because checking every dispensary menu separately gets old. It compares the same product at licensed NJ shops within the actual driving distance you choose, cheapest first. Sometimes saving money means a shorter trip.
For Newark folks without a car, there are also filters for shops near train/light rail and bus stops. Bundle offers show how many you need to buy to get the price.
It’s my free side project: no ads, no login, no ordering. I’d love feedback from people using Newark-area shops—missing products, confusing results, or prices that look wrong. Still in beta; prices are before tax, so confirm on the shop’s menu. Adults 21+ only.

Hiii, I’m a NJIT architecture student doing a project on Newark Broad Street Station and I wanna hear from anybody who uses it or is familiar with the area. I have many thoughts but I wanna hear many to create a better understanding and argument for my assignment.
What are your biggest complaints about the station? Are there any specific areas that feel confusing, uncomfortable, unsafe, or poorly designed? Is there anything you wish was different, or anything you think the station does well?
I’m especially interested in specific locations and personal experiences. Feel free to just rant and complain since believe me I understand how annoying commuting in Newark is. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
edit: I wanna use your guys comments for my assignment since I think I can make a cool architectural drawing out of everyone’s opinions, thanks again! 💕

One scene main character gets pulled over by a cop and I realized the buildings was downtown Newark.
Another scene driving in fire truck and they are on MLK Blvd crossing Central ave passing the old St Michaels building. And they was in the Ironbound in the warehouse sections, and many was shot in and around NJIT.
They are checking tickets on the light rail today. At least heading to penn station. Police are on the train checking.

Is there a chess community in this city? I am looking for even 1 intermediate or better player to have some on the board (OTB) games with. Roughly rated ~ 1450 chess.com/1650 lichess on 10 minute rapid time control.

In July, I took off a bus stop in frelinghuysen Ave and it had an honestly super bad smell. It looked very secluded, and empty, with a rotten dead animal smell. I'm also curious about this avenue, as I heard prostitution takes place.

This park is gorgeous in the fall with the leaves changing colors. Great afternoon for a walk in the park.
