So there's people in the dragon? Thanks for ruining the magic

It’s not the dragon we became but the friends we made under its skin along the way.

That must require incredible strength! Must take years of training at the gym, before you can even learn the dance.

The amount of training for this! As a kid i have always dream of being on the lion dance team and beg my parents to let me join the temples team. After 2 years of training back then they made me the fat guy with the fan. I don’t have the coordination for it

Instead of falling off individual pylons why not just make a continuous walkway with 2x4's and plywood?

The difficulty caused by the jumping is part of the performance. Making it easier would lose part of the point.

Why do the practice posts have to be so far off the ground?

u/hyperactiveChipmunk 3h ago
At some point, you have to practice with the height. Otherwise your performance environment is different than the practice environment and the risk of falling and injury is now a new, unfamiliar element that you haven't prepared for.

Would have liked to see a version where I can’t see the people or the setup like at an actual show

There are lots of other crazy dismounts. I'm a lion dancer, but not at this skill level

I recognize this type of dormitory. There’s a very sad reason why these kids are so good. The performing arts in China are brutal. These kids’ entire lives are training and performing. They don’t get an education. They don’t get a social life. They rarely see their parents. They don’t get paid. Or if they do, the money goes to reimburse their training costs or room and board. If they get injured, they get thrown out of the troupe.
