Highlight [Highlight] Bo nix throws a perfect ball to Bobby Wagner
76
u/Embarrassed_Pain_935 Seahawks 23h ago
Seattle lost but the broncos are getting dogged so much more for some reason
21
u/DenverTechGuru Broncos 14h ago
It's because Bo looked terrible playing on a game plan that wasn't intended to do anything other than take what our D can get, and give nothing back the other way.
It worked, but it didn't make your average fan happy.
A ton of fans can't handle teams are more than their QB. I partly blame guys like Collinsworth slobbering over Mahomes and the marketing teams generally.
28
u/gavincantdraw Seahawks 13h ago
Your argument does feel a little disingenuous. If this were one time Bo did it, I'd agree, but he's been like this all year.
7
u/DeepFriedDresden 10h ago
"All year". 6 games in while still getting swelling when he comes off a plane from an injury that directly affected a major weapon in his back pocket. He's not playing well, but the coaches know more about his current abilities and plan around it to get a win, which means it's going to look different and be an adjustment week after week. And playing against a #1 defense means playing conservatively.
Seahawks and Rams. #1 and #2 passing defense. Jaguars are a #1 rushing defense. Broncos beat em. It wasn't flashy, it wasn't fun, but the Broncos beat em.
2
u/Weaslewamper Panthers 9h ago
The Broncos have a good roster and coaching staff (particularly on defense), but that doesn't change the fact Nix is consistently turning down open guys down the field including against an abysmal defense in the Chargers.
Maybe it's injury related. Maybe it's him embracing his worst habits. Either way, it's happening, and six games is 1/3 of the season. That's enough of a sample size to raise the alarm.
3
u/DeepFriedDresden 6h ago
Absolutely raise the alarm, but they're still going to design conservative games around lingering injuries.
And yes it's 1/3 of the season, it's also the Broncos hardest 1/3. Strength of schedule went from something like 3rd up to and including the Seahawks to 29th after the Seahawks. If struggles continue as bad as they are going forward, then I'll be much more worried than I am now coming out of a gauntlet 4-2.

u/Embarrassed_Pain_935 Seahawks 12h ago

Worked just fine last year when Bo outdueled the chosen one.

8
u/wifiwolfpac 1d ago edited 1d ago
Ok, but Bo had an ankle he trusted for 99% of that game.
It’s pretty clear so far this season that he has been a worse player than he was last year. Eye test, stats, however you want to slice it.
Obviously he can improve, we are still barely a third of the way through the season. But it’s not like there’s no reason to be concerned.
12
u/DBDXL Broncos 23h ago
Could not agree with you more. Physically and mentally he loos like something is badly wrong.
My theory is bad recovery/doesn't trust his ankle and that will affect you mentally.
He might just be bad this year due to this. I think he will bounce back.
He also might just never be the same and it could have been a devastating ankle injury that he never comes back from.

u/AcrobaticPlenty1446 1d ago
The problem is Broncos fans think that Bo is a great QB
He’s exactly what the broncos need but he’s not the engine of the car so to speak, he’s a role player on that team
→ More replies (1)3
u/Ok_Marionberry8779 Broncos 1d ago
Broncos fans want him to be a great QB when he was brought in to be a game manager. Fitzpatrick’s style of play is exactly what Peyton wants to avoid but for some reason our fans want Nix to take shots down field from our own end zone up 14-3 against the Super Bowl champion’s defense.
16
u/OnlyAdvertisersKnoMe 1d ago
No, broncos fans want more than two first downs in a half. Fucking despise disingenuous bullshit like this.

Playing well enough to win the game without making dumb decisions that could lose it. That’s his entire job.

He's just throwing behind the line. Tua wouldn't even fuck that up, that's the problem

Is Bo Nix the first qb to throw an awful interception or something?
82
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 1d ago
He actually throws very few of them funnily enough
14
u/joeychestnutsrectum Broncos 22h ago
There’s this weird idea that Bo is a turnover machine when he’s one of the best in the league at protecting the football. Herbstreit kept saying last night that he’s prone to make poor decisions in big moments when there’s no basis for that whatsoever.
26
u/Minute-Spinach-5563 Eagles 1d ago
Like i understand this Fitztragic/bo pix war, but its so dumb. Fitz obviously went harder than he needed to, but some of that criticism is deserved. But for him to say that like he doesn’t have a Nathan Peterman game himself is very shortsighted. It’d be like John starks being mad someone shot themselves out of a game in bball
6
7
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 1d ago
I agree with everything you’ve said. Broncos fans are as critical of Bo as anyone. My only issue is accusing him of not trying

As an eagles fan who had to see my radio station put up rage bait about how they think Tanner McKee should keep QB1 status if he plays well while Jalen rehabs his blood clots, i understand. This shit is maddening, and honestly makes it hard to be a fan
1
u/Ok_Marionberry8779 Broncos 1d ago
Broncos fans are way too critical of Bo. You can’t go into the main sub without idiots saying we need to trade for Herbert or start tanking

As a Pats fan this sub (and honestly sports subs/reddit as a whole) lacks the ability to view nuance. Like no Pats was praising Maye the first three weeks of the season but people got mad about Pats fans praising Maye when he was actually playing well last year. Basically arguing against points people were making a year ago lol
Bo was making legit plays last year and winning you guys games, it would not surprise me one bit if he bounced back from this rough start after watching film/some coaching
2
u/Nails__DeChamp Eagles 1d ago
John Starks was pretty clutch other than that game 7
Monta Ellis or post prime Westbrook is who you’re looking for
2
u/WitcherOfWallStreet 21h ago
Peterman threw 5 in a single half, that’s way worse than six in a whole game. Why do people keep equating these games, if Peterman wasn’t benched for TyGod he was on pace for 10 lol

17
u/Ok_Marionberry8779 Broncos 1d ago
People act like our defense playing lights out is an accident. Is only happens because Nix protects the football. Our defense would suck with Fitz at QB cause he would put them in awful positions with bone headed turnovers.
5
u/ArchManingThroatGOAT Buccaneers 1d ago
I guess Bo Nix being better than career journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick is the bar now
10
u/Ok_Marionberry8779 Broncos 1d ago
Bo did that before his second year in the league. It’s Fitz’ fault for picking this fight. There’s a reason Nix has more playoff success already.
8
u/Nagisa201 Broncos 1d ago
Fitz was legit the tank master general. Brought in to take up space and let your team have a good draft pick to tank an actual QB. Teams he played for consistently drafted in the top 8
8
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 1d ago
QBs that throw a lot of picks are rarely successful. Even if they put up otherwise great numbers. Jameis Winston is the ultimate proof of that.
The guy put up massive numbers but threw a ton of picks. The time he was most effective as a QB was actually when he played for Payton and had pretty conservative numbers.
Favre couldn’t get a second Super Bowl because he threw his team’s seasons away on playoff interceptions multiple times
6
u/Ok_Marionberry8779 Broncos 23h ago
Suddenly a QB who protects the ball and avoids dumb game losing plays isn’t exciting enough.
8
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 23h ago
I completely get neutrals not wanting us on prime time but that’s not Bo’s fault lol. Blame the NFL for giving us I swear to God maximum amounts of prime time games
4
4
u/Nagisa201 Broncos 23h ago
Bo 100% gotta play better. 14 points in regulation isn't gonna get it done. 19 points per game isn't going to get it done. Denver is a great team going 4-2 in the stretch but can be a true 1 seed threat again if they are scoring even 24 points
→ More replies (1)2
u/Gefilte_F1sh Buccaneers 14h ago
There’s a reason Nix has more playoff success already.
And you think that reason is strictly Bo Nix and has nothing to do with the caliber of his defense or coaching staff by comparison?
1
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 1d ago
Seattle had zero short fields last night. Zero.
The only way Bo puts our defense in bad spots is time of possession. But that’s for sure preferable to handing Seattle points in the way Darnold handed us the game winning field goal
3
u/WayyTooFarAbove Broncos 23h ago
Nah they had plenty short fields due to special teams, which is the crazy part about the defense holding.
1
u/Salty_Helicopter9356 Broncos 23h ago
I’ve always thought a short field to mean starting in opponent territory. But yeah they had a few start past their own 40

For me at least, it isn't so much "defending Fitz" as it is pointing out the insane Ad Hominem going on by some people.
"Well Fitz sucked when he played so what he said means less" is a faulty argument.
Bo Nix's style of football is unsustainable for long term success. Especially now that he seems like he's afraid to run which was covered up for his passing deficiencies last year.
-1
u/buzzmemello520 Broncos 18h ago
Ironically it was another broncos fan that posted the highlight of Fitz having a good game, in response to a broncos fan posting negative fitz highlights. All fair and in good fun.
This OP is a massive dweeb pats fan who is always extremely negative and has to post a random bad nix highlight from last year. Like there aren't plenty from last night to choose from. Broncos of course still won this game

u/_Bob4 1d ago
All this talk since yesterday has shown that people would rather have him play risky and throw picks on a night he’s off against a great defense when they’re up rather than play conservatively, not turn it over, and rely on your defense to get stops, get you good field position, and win you the game.
Theres a reason the broncos are 4-2 despite not playing their best, it’s cause Sean Payton is better than most other coaches at managing games, deciding not to go for it when others would have and when to rely on your offense and when to be conservative and put trust in your defense
48
u/ross5th Buccaneers 1d ago
A lot of these people have never experienced a Jameis Winston as their qb. Put prime Jameis on this Broncos team, Waddle probably looks amazing, and the Broncos are 2-4

I think it’s worse for him long term if you don’t allow him to play aggressive a bit. Sure you’re winning games but he needs to learn about what works and what doesn’t work and pushing the envelope would help Bo do that.

More just yips coming off an injury I think, combine with that he was always inconsistent. Hes also played some incredible defenses. No one has torched Seattle. The 9ers, Rams, and Chiefs are all also top defenses.
Also coming off injury and a rough stretch his OC who he seems to like lost playcalling. Overall who knows. People regress in the NFL, but I personally think he can bounce back, even if he’s not Allen or Lamar, dudes capable of playing well, or at least he has been in the past.
