How a Victorious reboot could have actually worked:
Realistically, I think Sikowitz, Trina, Robbie, Lane, and Sinjin are the original cast members who would have been most likely to agree to return. With that in mind, I think these characters could have been incorporated into the reboot in a much more interesting and natural way, while still introducing a new generation of students at Hollywood Arts.
Sikowitz and Lane could have remained in their original roles, while Sinjin could have become a technical theatre teacher, which would have made much more sense than making Trina a teacher.
Trina could have been a teen mom who got pregnant shortly after graduating high school, which honestly would have aligned pretty well with her character. She could have had a daughter who now attends Hollywood Arts. They should have kept Trina living in the same house, with her storyline focusing on her relationship with her daughter, who could have a personality and overall vibe similar to Tori's.
I also think Trina should have experienced some genuine character development over the years. Having a child could have made her somewhat more mature and even more likable at times, without completely changing who she is. She should have retained her diva personality, narcissism, and dramatic tendencies rather than becoming the cringey, almost cartoonish adult portrayed in the reboot. Motherhood could have given her a more grounded side while still allowing her to be the same outrageous Trina we remember.
Over the years, she could have evolved into a narcissistic, overbearing mother who constantly gets into arguments with the teachers at Hollywood Arts, especially Sinjin, bringing back their hilarious high school dynamic. It would also be a great way to explore Trina's desire to live vicariously through her daughter, especially since her own dreams of stardom never really took off. She could genuinely love her daughter while simultaneously embarrassing her and trying to make everything about herself.
Another potential storyline could have involved Trina naturally running into Robbie, who's still a struggling artist. They could bump into each other at a gas station, grocery store, or somewhere equally ordinary. Trina would initially be annoyed to see him, while Robbie would immediately start flirting with her. During their conversation, they could mention how they haven't seen each other since Tori moved out after her career took off.
Trina would obviously be grossed out by Robbie's advances, but later that evening, she'd find herself thinking about the encounter and realizing that Robbie has actually become pretty decent-looking. This could set up a genuinely entertaining slow-burn romance, with their relationship developing naturally over the course of the show rather than feeling forced. It could also show a different side of Trina without completely abandoning her original personality.
As for the new main cast, they should have had the same level of attractiveness, charisma, and individuality as the original cast. The music should have been less corny and Disney-like, and the styling should have been more fashionable and age-appropriate instead of looking so childish.
A huge part of what made Victorious successful was that, despite its absurd comedy, the characters actually felt like teenagers. Their fashion, personalities, relationships, and interactions reflected a more recognizable high school experience, especially compared to the overly childish portrayals of teenagers on Disney Channel.
Another thing the reboot seems to misunderstand is that Victorious was never really a show centred around morals, life lessons, or constantly teaching viewers about friendship and doing the right thing. Its appeal came from its quirky, unpredictable, and often completely ridiculous storylines. Episodes didn't need some meaningful message or emotional resolution to be entertaining. Sometimes the entire plot was just the characters getting caught up in bizarre situations, arguing over something stupid, or dealing with the eccentric personalities at Hollywood Arts. The comedy came from the characters themselves, their chemistry, and how absurd their situations could become.
The new show seems to have completely missed that appeal. Instead of capturing the slightly edgier, more mature, and effortlessly cool atmosphere that made Victorious stand out, it feels like the very type of Disney Channel show that the original managed to distinguish itself from.

Been watching the first episode of the reboot and I just gotta say that i feel like the new jokes like saying 67 and having holograms and Instagram superstar type things in it just throws off the original feel. Mornings gonna live up to the original though. I'ma continue to watch the rest of the series and give a proper ranking when it's done. Let me know in the comments what you think so far and if your going to check it out! So far it's not bad but it's also not good like I feel it could be better

When it came time for Nickelodeon to revive their live action shows, they originally started doing so by specifically going for the original audiences that grew up with them. The iCarly revival went for a more mature audience by having showrunners mainly known for sitcoms like The Simpsons and Young And Hungry. Zoey 102 also attempted to go for a mature audience, but did so hiring writers who worked on both adult shows (the creators of Betch) and Nickelodeon kids shows (the writers worked on Drama Club and The All That revival). Now we have the 2020s Thundermans projects (Thundermans Return, Thundermans Undercover, Clash Of The Thundermans) and Hollywood Arts. They follow the same route of getting the original actors to be executive producers on here, but they more clearly want a family friendly direction. The former does so by elevating Chloe to a co-protagonist role while the latter has Trina teach a class of teenagers. The Thundermans franchise brings back the original creators while Hollywood Arts gets writers who worked on other Dan Schneider shows. Hollywood Arts is also interesting in how it's the third revival of a Dan Schneider show that doesn't have his involvement, but is the first one to have showrunners that did work om his shows before. With this information in mind, which do you like more?
