When teenaged-me pictured Trent recording TDS, my grandma's curtains were definitely NOT what I had in mind.

u/Maelstromage Take this, and run far away. 20h ago

That looks to be a hotel room.

But that really was the style at the time (grandpa Abe arm swings)

Came here to ask if they were in my mate's nan's flat in East London... it looks so familiar :D

Definitely playing Doom in that first pic.

Never realised how much I looked like Trent when I discovered TDS as a 15 year old XD

And, maybe, in the second pic too.

Came here to say Quake but Doom is legit

Quake was released in 1996. Doom was released in 1994 and Trent was said to be obsessed with it.

That first photo looks like a hotel room. Maybe that was for the Natural Born Killer soundtrack

This is correct. That’s exactly what they were working on in this photo

Most likely because they were on tour and moving around a lot and for the Something I Can Never Have (Edit) for the movie there is a video of them in a hotel re-recording it and editing the voicelines onto it.

That’s exactly correct. I saw them many times on that tour and era

I think this might have been when they were touring for TDS (explains the motel room). So maybe Quake, NBK or something in that era?

I work in IT, and we have a cabinet/shrine of antiquated hardware we've used over the decades. Stuff that at the time was fucking cutting edge, but is laughable by todays standards. It's crazy how far we've come.

It’s fully how something so energetic and influential looks so mundane as it’s created.

Thought that was Maynard James Keenan on the left in the first photo for a hot second

Would be super into someone finding old footage from this time and making a making of doc.

If anyone could it would be Kate Van Buren. She’s already put so much on YouTube

Podboy lurking in the background

The way his arm looks in that first photo.... no man. He looked fuller than that in the live Pigs video

u/illicitpulse 6h ago

First pic is more likely the hotel room where they produced ‘Burn’

1

u/TheNumbBeauty 1h ago

Actually I was thinking that because they were on tour.

Idk though because his hair is pretty short for around the Self Destruct tour time.

That would go along with the video in Closure of the Something I Can Never Have edit.

This had to be 1993 because I saw them on this tour, in Feb. of 1994. It was officially released in March.

Did he record this in the house where the Manson killings were carried out?

4

u/FormerEvil 21h ago

yes and this is not that house. tbh, he looks way too young for this to actually be what op says it is.

Never seen these before, I find them really interesting. Would love more pictures, interviews, videos about the creation of the first 3 albums

Why are they in a Holiday Inn?
