Wolves is the last decent whole album. Since then every record is 50/50 at best. Sometimes worse.

I'm not changing your mind, your opinion is your own, but for me it's Single Album. I like just about everythng on that album and thought it was a great improvement oin FDE which is one of my least favorites and only has maybe 4 or 5 standout tracks (6 Years on Dope, California Drought, I Don't Like me Anymore, I'm so sorry Tony and Generation Z).
That said, the last typically NoFX album to me is Self (en)titled. Almost all great tracks and it's the last album that has the classic NoFX sound imo.

California Drought is such an excellent song. If all the New-FX songs were this good, I would not mind the change in tone.

Nah. Self Entitled was the last great one. FDE is only good

Yeah, I agree with this. They’ve put out a number of excellent songs since, but Self-Entitled is the last album that was truly great

Coaster is better than Self Entitled

Agreed. Last album I was hooked on and actually pre-ordered. The single/double/half albums just... something was off.

I agree just didn't have the same energy, I feel like detox was Mike's farewell song 😭😭❤️❤️

Could have been a great album of they had trimmed the fat to 12-15 songs total.

u/Fermentique 15d ago
It's my favorite nofx album

u/BleachPartyUSA 15d ago
Also mine. I've been a fan since the 90s and this album just spoke to me.
2
u/Fermentique 15d ago
Yup, same. I probably wouldn't have appreciated this album the same if it came out in 96 when I was 15. But in my late 30s, it was relatable.

Imo the last truly great NoFX album is Wolves.
The albums that follow all have good and even great songs, but there's always something that falls flat for me
Wolves is probably the last album of theirs that I could say is basically all killer

Bums me out to hear people think that. I loved double and half album. Some incredible songs on there

Totally agree. Some of Mikes best song writing on those albums. Maybe not the most punk type songs, but still, great albums.

I agree with OP. First Ditch Effort has amazing songs on it that should have been played more live. California Drought, Happy Fathers Day, dead beat mom, transvest lite, six years on dope (played live quite often), oxy moronic, I don’t like me anymore, it Ain’t lonely at the bottom, ditch effort all BANGERS.
It’s a great album

Give Single Album a couple chances. That would have been an incredible last release. I mean, just the fact they started that thing out with The Big Drag alone...

It's funny, because every few years the goal posts move. People used to say this about Self Entitled, so it must be about that time. A couple years from now, we'll keep moving down the discography.

I'd likely even say before that. But hey He's written hundred and hundreds of songs

if first ditch effort is considered "great" what is punk in drublic?
my vote is probably wolves.

Only album produced over the last two decade not produced by Bill Stevenson. Wonder if there’s a connection there

Why do you want people to convince you to dislike something you already like?

honestly for me their last great album was So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes
Valuum is good. Errorism has a killer first half but takes a dip after Idiots. Wolves is good. Coaster is decent. S/E is ok. First Ditch is ok. After that it‘s bad.
I‘d personally say their only 2 great albums are So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes and Punk in Drublic (but their best work is The Decline)

Single album opening up with the big drag alone gives it competition for that title

It's pretty good! I'd say that you have 1 very good album if you were to turn single/double/half album into one album, though.

Why?
Edit: Why should I change your mind on something so trivial and has absolutely no bearing on anyone's life at all.
Power Electronics is good music. Change my mind?

You didn't write any argument, therefore we can not change your mind. Good luck with your life.

I'd say the last great was So Long... and the last really good one was War on Errorism. I've only liked a handful of songs from each release after that.

It's Coaster for me. Has quite a few bangers and I can easily listen to it the whole way through without even noticing, the same can't be said for anything that came after.
