I know this is not the point here, but I'm a little pissed off that they are littering. Looks cool to hold on to the Red Bull can and then throw it once you are out, but that sucker is landing somewhere. Also, I wonder what the terminal velocity of that thing is. Could do some damage.

You are actually correct. And I know my wording was not great, but it was meant to be more of a wondering than a strong statement. But did some googling, and seems like the terminal velocity of an empty can is somewhere in the 20-30km/h, which still sounded like it could do some damage, but apparently it's so light that it wouldn't do much. A "brief sting" is how it was described somewhere. However, a full would reach around 100km/h, and if it had the appropriate spin (don't know if that's possible) to fall end-first, theoretically could reach like 160-170km/h. Both of these should be in the "scull-fracture" range of energy. So remember kids, when skydiving, remember to drink your Red Bull before throwing the can away....
