Hullo everyone! This is the /r/northernlion mod team. We're looking for folks who care about this subreddit to join our ranks and help continue building on and improving this subreddit.

We currently have 5 active mods on the team, who are all working hard to try and maintain this community as a fun and healthy space for discussion, while ensuring a certain level of quality to avoid the sub being drowned in low effort spam. The first major reason we're looking for more mods is to ensure we just have more eyeballs on the subreddit and on the report queue at all times. We're looking for a more resilient level of coverage across multiple timezones, and to build in redundancies so that if one mod in Europe is sick or busy then there's another who can respond to issues as they arise.

But aside from just people who can catch rule-breaking posts and respond to modmails, we also want people who know the community and have good ideas as to how to make it better. This is the second major reason we're looking for new mods right now, we're having an ongoing discussion on how the old rules can be revamped and made relevant to the culture of the community as it exists now. With only a handful of us right now it's slow going, and we're really looking for people who will be enthusiastic to take part in these discussions and shape what the sub will look like in the future.

As time goes on and more mods are needed for coverage, and further changes to the rules are required, we're hoping the team can become a foundation that will steer the sub to allow it to continue to grow and adapt to changing circumstances. If that sounds exciting to you we really hope you'll consider applying!

With that said, please fill out the application form here! Applications from anyone active on the sub are welcome, regardless of your level of modding experience (absolute beginners to modding are welcome and encouraged to apply!). Please take your time to write meaningful and thoughtful answers to the questions on the form, as we will disregard applications where there is an obvious lack of effort put into writing it. Additionally, applications strongly suspected of using generative AI will be immediately disqualified.

The form will be open for two weeks, until 2nd November at 4:00 UTC, at which point we will review and make decisions on applications.
