My Ex Knew Things She Shouldn’t Have…

My ex and I dated for a little over two years.

The relationship wasn’t horrible, but the breakup definitely was.

She wanted to stay together. I didn’t.

For the first few weeks afterward, she texted me constantly. Sometimes she’d apologize, sometimes she’d get angry, and sometimes she’d act like we hadn’t broken up at all.

Eventually, I blocked her.

A couple weeks later, I got a message from a new number.
It was her.

I blocked that one too.

Then she started emailing me.

That went on for maybe a month before everything suddenly stopped.

I thought she’d finally moved on.

Then one night, I went out with a couple friends to this small bar about twenty minutes from my apartment.

The next morning, I had an email from her.

All it said was, “Hope you had fun last night.”

That bothered me, but we still had mutual friends. I figured somebody had mentioned seeing me.

A few weeks later, I drove out of town to visit my brother.

While I was there, I got another email.

“Tell your brother I said hi.”

That one freaked me out.

My brother lived almost two hours away, and I hadn’t posted anything about visiting him.

I asked everyone I could think of if they’d spoken to her.

Nobody had.

So I started going through everything.

I changed my passwords. I checked Snapchat, Google, Find My, basically anything that could possibly be sharing my location.

Nothing.

I even checked my car because one of my friends convinced me she might have put an AirTag on it.

We didn’t find anything.

Then it stopped again.

For almost two months, I didn’t hear from her.

During that time, I started seeing someone else.

We weren’t officially dating yet. We’d only gone out maybe four or five times.

One Friday night, we went to a restaurant downtown.
We ate, had a couple drinks, and then I drove her home.
The next morning, she called me.

She sounded uncomfortable and asked if I’d given her Instagram to anybody.

I said no.

Then she sent me a screenshot.

Some blank account with no profile picture had messaged her.

There was no text.

Just a picture.

It was us sitting inside the restaurant.

The photo had been taken from outside, across the street.

You could see me through the window, and you could see the girl I was with sitting across from me.

I knew immediately who sent it.

I called my ex.

She denied everything.

She actually got angry at me for accusing her and said I was obsessed with making her look crazy.

So I hung up.

Then I drove back to the restaurant.

Across the street was a small parking lot.

From where the picture had been taken, whoever took it would’ve been sitting almost directly across from our table.

That meant they hadn’t randomly walked by and seen us.
They had parked there.

I filed a police report after that.

There wasn’t enough to prove she’d taken the picture, but at least there was documentation.

I also told basically everyone in my life what was happening.

And strangely enough, once I did that, it stopped.
Completely.

No emails. No messages. Nothing.

It’s been over a year now.

As far as I know, she’s moved on.

I have too.

But there’s one thing I never figured out.

The restaurant wasn’t somewhere I normally went.

The girl I was seeing picked it.

We decided to go there less than an hour before we arrived.

Neither of us posted about it.

So either my ex somehow still had access to my location…
or she had been following me long enough to see where we went.

I honestly don’t know which explanation I prefer…

Can you explain this to me as an android user?

Can an old phone of someone's still have iCloud access to a current phone? Would that allow them to see messages and things?

Asking because I experienced something very similar a few years ago

So let’s say OP had once logged onto his iCloud on his ex’s laptop, that could still be logged in and she would be able to see his current texts, calendar, photos, etc.

It’s like if I’m imessaging someone on my iPhone but my husband is using my iPad, he will see all those iMessage notifications bc they are both logged into my iCloud and both devices can respond to those iMessages. If my husband replied to some of those texts on my iPad, the text thread would display both devices’ messages as coming from me/my iCloud account. Does that make sense?

It’s actually kinda hard and technical to remove a device permanently from your iCloud account. So I feel like I hear about them being used for stalking purposes a fair amount.
