Visa / OCI / Passport OCI application returned
Hello, so I submitted me and my sister’s OCI application last month and mine returned because I didn’t put my middle name. I redid my application and I’m sending it again. I’m not sure if I’ll get a refund but I hope I do because 300$ is crazy. They also ask that everything is uploaded clearly which it is. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
As for my sister’s application they’re asking me about my father’s name change?? I’m so confused as to what they want. My father has never changed his name??
Any ways I need someone to help me look over my application before I send out another one. Do you have any recommendations? Also will I get a refund?

Given your issue with the mismatch of your name in your application, the authorities have raised a query based on their internal casework and the non-refundable charges they receive. It is therefore advisable to check before applying.

Wow are you me? This exact scenario has happened to me. Received it back today for not including my middle name. Maybe they read our apps around the same time.
I feel like an idiot, but also the concept that I might have to pay $300 AGAIN…I’m pissed…

Bad news first: a returned OCI application means the fee is gone. The fee is tied to each application, so when you resubmit you pay the full fee again. Nobody refunds the 300 dollars, so plan for that before sending the next one.
The father's name change question almost always means the name does not match exactly across your documents. They compare your father's name on your birth certificate, his passport or ID, and what you typed in the form. If the middle name is on one and missing on another, or there is a small spelling difference, they ask for a name-change explanation. Since your dad never changed his name, lay the documents side by side and find where his name differs. Then use one consistent spelling and full name everywhere in the application.
Before resubmitting, cross-check every field against the physical document, especially names and dates. And even if your uploads look clear to you, export them at high resolution. Rejections over scans that look fine on a phone screen but blurry when printed are very common.
