Corruption / Dirty Politics National deletes AI video of police seizing gang patches
newsroom.co.nz"Christopher Luxon said in 2023 he would ‘draw the line at’ using AI video ads, but after National published two AI videos in the past month, his office now says that only applied to fakes of real people"
This article is from 2025. What changed?

ELECTION 2026 In 2023, over 450,000 Kiwis enrolled or updated details after early voting started. This time, they won't be allowed to vote. Special votes have always given the left 2 reliable seats

General Politics Campaigning/voting for the best outcomes for our people
NOT attempting to open the door for US political chat but god I wish this way of thinking was common for our NZ politicians from every side!!
Voting for 'your colour' no matter what the policy is so basic haha I hate it, and hate how much campaigning is based around it!

Was inspired to look up Labour'spolicy after seeing a great Green video on it. (apparently Labour released it in May but I never knew the details)

The left is voicing concerns about the number of Kiwi's who will be disenfranchised when it comes to their vote based on the changes to voter registration up that this government has made
The NZ Herald has crunched the numbers on the probability of who will form the next government, and it seems that there are some scenarios where TPM are back to being the king makers?

General Politics I built a site to explore NZ political party donations
With the election coming up, I wanted an easy way to see who's donating to each party. The info is public but it's spread across hard to read Electoral Commission pages and files, so I put it all in one searchable place: WhoFunds.nz
Everything comes from the official returns, and donor names are exactly as filed. I've aimed to keep it nonpartisan, so you can draw your own conclusions or just be nosy about who's giving money to who.
If you spot a mistake or have a feature idea, leave a comment or open an issue on the GitHub repo.
And a reminder to make sure you're enrolled so you can vote on November 7th 🗳️

ELECTION 2026 Qiulae Wong, the radical moderate
thespinoff.co.nzThe Spinoff has been doing a series of articles on party leaders, Here's their one on Quilae Wong
Just my opinion, and yes I know we are yet to see how she or Opportunity may go in office, but I feel Q has a lot of similarities to Jacinda Ardern that I like. Particularly their communication style, public image and ability to present themselves as a different kind of political leader. Both challenge the idea that political leadership has to be combative to be effective. Both have risen in political environments where their leadership potential was not necessarily obvious to everyone at the outset, but to be fair Wong is still at an earlier stage of her political career.
Whether Q's collaborative approach can translate into lasting policy outcomes remains to be seen, but I really hope so
