Still blows my mind that people can tilt their heads, like I have a full “you guys are getting paid?” reaction lol. I used to be able to! Cervical dystonia stole so much from me xD

My neck would feel a-ma-zing if I could get even close to that amount of rotation.

Everyone knows a borrow owl lives in a hole. In the ground. Why the hell do you think they call it a borrow owl?

Anyway, 10:30 the other night, I go out into my yard
And there's the Werster kid looking up in the tree
I say, "What are you looking for?"
"Looking for my burrow owl"
I say, "Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick
Everybody knows the burrow owl lives in a hole in the ground
Why the hell do you think they call it a burrow owl anyway?"

Could this have been taken in Imperial County CA near the Salton Sea?

Ha. This looks like all 3 of the places I've seen them. open fields with a borrow ditch. Probably a culvert nearby.
Edit...though 2 of the places are in Texas, where I live, one was actually in Imperial County near the Salton Sea! I just checked my eBird.

The area looked very familiar. Beautiful special birds!

I usually see them in small groups in that area early in the morning, popping about in the irrigation canals looking for breakfast.

I used to live next to a meadow with burrowing owls. I miss those weird little guys.

I don't really understand how this is oddly satisfying but owls are pretty cool

Trying to make sense of you. Trying so hard. Nope, you make no sense.
