simbaaaaa

u/pushdose 2d ago

He sounds a lot like Reynolds also

1

u/Effective-Culture-88 1d ago

Seriously tho like that’s uncanny

45

u/NorCalAthlete 2d ago

As someone who does his own work on bikes and cars a decent bit - I’m jealous of that garage setup if that isn’t a professional shop

52

u/Gloomy-Employment-72 2d ago

I need an oil funnel kit like that.

10

u/Clean_Instruction102 2d ago

I thought the exact same thing. Anyone know where it can be purchased?

12

u/Sgtfridge 1d ago

So this is the guy supermanning all the oil filters on!

23

u/BenNiggins 2d ago

The simba at the end was wild

132

u/xcirca1984x 3d ago

Not only was this entertaining, it was educational. Just like the movie “Air Bud”. Thank you. 10/10.

30

u/Ok-Journalist7612 3d ago

Really?? Air bud!! I mean okay.. I like it..

16

u/WangDanglin 3d ago

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn a thing or two.

30

u/TheZona 3d ago

What actually is the “razzmatazz” spray/purpose?

34

u/Objective-Elk2093 3d ago

Cleans the oil off the engine. It’s brakleen

36

u/_ShakenBacon 2d ago

I used to work with a Brakleen. Nice lady.

6

u/theaveragescientist 2d ago

I thought her name was Braklyn.

2

u/Temporary_Peanut_586 2d ago

"Toora, loora, toora, loo-rye-aye... Come on Brakleen, oh you know what I mean..."

1

u/AFetaWorseThanDeath 7h ago

Dexy's Midday Lubers

15

u/stupidcookface 3d ago

I think it's brakleen or carb cleaner, it's a solvent that gets oil and dirt off really well and it evaporates really quickly too so that's why it's safe for brakes (the brakleen, not sure about carb cleaner, but they seem similar). It is quite flammable though.

5

u/AFallingWall 2d ago

12 years professional mechanic. The flammable part is jot to be under estimated. Had a lube tech one time ask the foreman if he could have one of the empty/almost empty barles of it. Foreman said sure, and the dude took it home. Came back the next day (or maybe the day after?) With his arms covered in bandages and missing his eyebrows. He decided he wanted to use it as a "burn barrel" and took an angle grinder to it lol

2

u/ImtakintheBus 1d ago

Ooft. yeah. a lot of people forget that many metals are porous at the microscopic level and even when "empty" will outgas from the interior surface of the metal container. It's so common with propane tanks exploding when people want to cut them open, that the NPGA (National Propane Gas Association) issued specific training and instructions how to do it as so not to launch your giblets into the next field.

2

u/_Quasifrodo_ 1d ago

Brake cleaner, not carb cleaner. Carb cleaner is wayyyyyy harsher.

1

u/stupidcookface 1d ago

Gotcha good to know! I never really knew the difference haha

3

u/small_chinchin 3d ago

“Razzmatazz” and also “razzypoo” in other videos he posts are brakleen, assuming the chlorinated version since it dries/evaporates so quick

1

u/powerhammerarms 2d ago

I didn't know I was the chlorine that made it evaporate so quickly

1

u/xuncx 2d ago

Brake/parts cleaner.

1

u/buddhamunche 2d ago

He’s just cleaning which is such a nice touch

1

u/aquatone61 2d ago

It’s brake clean basically. The can it is in is pressurized by air, it’s got a nipple on it like an air tool. The can is filled from a big 55 gallon drum usually that has a hand pump on it. It’s reusable so you don’t have to constantly throw away aerosol cans of brake clean. Wurth has their own setup that’s pretty cool, fills the can with fluid and pressurizes it all in one go from a fitting on the bottom, this is the cheaper version.

0

u/Ok-Common-5853 3d ago

I'd like to know this too

38

u/Few_Judge1188 3d ago

Honestly up until I saw this I have never come across anyone that enjoys his work as much as you do and you’re doing it so perfectly and professionally with a smile , good on you mate .👍😊

u/arostrat 2d ago

I'm really getting tired of this style of video editing, whether it's crafts or food.

40

u/ganymede_boy 2d ago

💯

BaNg! sLaP! ClIcK! It's some ASMR bullshit that TikTok made the norm. Throw in tight closeups and 0.10 second cuts, hyper-bright lighting and you got yourself a "banger" (apparently.)

It appeals to the short attention span crowd that is growing exponentially every day.

16

u/MrCoolGuy42 2d ago

Not nearly as bad as those guys frying a steak next to a river using a flat chunk of wood as a cutting board and some absurd knife

11

u/Rokronroff 2d ago

Cutting an onion with a tomahawk or some shit and cooking on a rock.

Jeez, alright bud!

5

u/sonnybear5 2d ago

Thanks to Car Mechanic Simulator 2021, I can actually understand what he’s doing.

74

u/Meat_Organ 3d ago

Have fun never taking that oil filter off

107

u/Korzag 2d ago

He's the reason I yell when trying to get filters off after having it done at a shop. Yall, hand tighten means one hand gutentight. Not two hand ubermenschengutentight

14

u/AlamoSimon 2d ago

German here. Can confirm that’s absolutely definitely how we evaluate tightness.

26

u/I0A0I 2d ago

Nah. Why do ya think they make filter wrenches? Gotta be 1 uggadugga tight. Can't have it leaking.

23

u/Formal_Appearance_16 3d ago

The man gave it all the uggas and duggas

8

u/BahGawdAlmightay 2d ago

In the actual video he points out that he put on the previous oil filter himself, and that he gets that one off by hand, just to respond to people like yourself saying this.

5

u/EquivalentSpot8292 3d ago

There’s a tool for that, filter wrench. Can make one with an old belt and a screwdriver. Just in case anyone needs to get a stuck oil filter off :)

8

u/Agent_Orange81 2d ago

When it comes to stubborn filters, I prefer ye Olde "jam a long screwdriver through the housing" trick

10

u/nostickystuff 2d ago

I like to use a big pair of pliers and crush it a little so it has some character to grab.

26

u/kilodaneko 2d ago

The perfect solution for when you want to tear that fucking thing to pieces and be left with nothing but the sharp oil filter base, and the shameful realization that a strap wrench wouldn’t have put you in this position.

Don’t stab your oil filters.

2

u/Organindan 1d ago

Finally, i'm not the only one anymore to advise against the screwdriver stabbing

1

u/THALANDMAN 1d ago

Strap wrenches are super useful tools for random around the house stuff too

1

u/_Quasifrodo_ 1d ago

Can confirm. Tried this exactly once when it was too stuck for the filter wrench I had. Mangled the shit out of it, and still didn’t come out. Strap wrench was the solution

1

u/EquivalentSpot8292 1d ago

Yup, best way to end up machining your oil filter fitting on your block too (and that was using vice grips over a strap wrench)

1

u/miraculum_one 2d ago

Can also just get a metal one of the right size. It makes the whole thing easier. It also means you can torque the new one properly (yes, some people actually do that).

1

u/CamelGamer1234 4h ago

And if it's crazy stuck hammer and old flathead all the way through the housing and out the other side.

0

u/buddhamunche 2d ago

Oh suuuure because it’s always super easy to get the filter wrench on there and you always have the space you need to apply the proper torque

I’ve literally had to bang these fuckers off with a hammer before

2

u/Mtatk 2d ago

I just broke two fucking filter wrenches getting the old filter off my wife's car after Walmart put it on. I got a filter wrench for 15 bucks and cursed the whole time. I'll do it from now on

1

u/buddhamunche 2d ago

Yep absolutely no reason tighten them like that. I do it myself most of the time, hand tighten, never once had a problem and never will because they’re actually not made to be fucking cranked on there like that. It has threads and a gasket it’s not coming off unless you have the hands of a baby 🙄

3

u/IncendiaryB 2d ago

I was fuckin with it until that point

7

u/Sealbeater 2d ago

I love that fill container for the oil. Do you happen to know where it came from?

7

u/Bastosek 2d ago

i think this is the one he has

TE Videos oil change videos are cathartic to watch, bud

Whenever a colleague hits me up on company chat (MS Teams) following up on the status of a deliverable, I always respond with this TE Video.

10

u/Ok-Journalist7612 3d ago

From our favorite master lube technician over at TEvideos costarring Dangly magnetus!!

2

u/neecheekee 2d ago

Oh ok, can I really power wash my engine indiscriminately? Love that.

11

u/Ok-Journalist7612 2d ago

Not indiscriminately.. you can really power wash your engine, but you don’t wanna go crazy with the cheese whiz and totally blast water into your air box and your fuse boxes you know, they sell cleaner that you can spray in your engine bay and you can just spray it on everything and do a quick rinse and yes, you’ll be completely fine. also don’t do this while it’s running. You don’t wanna suck water through your intake.

1

u/Temporary_Peanut_586 2d ago

Did I hear a quote from the poet, Beck?  O'delay!

2

Now thar's a feller who loves his job!

2

u/Dry-Conflict3421 2d ago edited 2d ago

When you can break the oil filter free with your naked monkey fist, it's a great feeling

2

u/RIF_Internet_Goon 1d ago

Hey! He use to show up alot on my IG feed. Homie left his Honda tech job and went solo.

5

u/cueballify 2d ago

i am a bit offended at how tight that new filter was installed. Overcooked IMO. I never go anything past one-quarter of a grunt.

3

u/dejaentendu82 1d ago

Good luck getting that oil filter off. Jesus.

2

u/Quirky_Secretary3142 1d ago

Filter tightening is a little extreme

-4

u/Ok-Journalist7612 1d ago

Just a little though.. it makes good internet!!!

1

u/Quirky_Secretary3142 15h ago

True but someone might use it as a correct example- edit it is a cool video. Love those lifts and the video is entertaining and well done!

2

u/CrankyYankers 2d ago

I have always loved changing the oil in my vehicles. A box wrench and a filter wrench is all.

2

u/fubty 2d ago

just change my oil bro

2

u/2squishmaster 2d ago

Oh my lord this is excellent

3

u/Joe4o2 3d ago

I’m getting a healthy dose of VGG, but also a potentially fatal dose of shenanigans, and I’m here for it.

2

u/Ok-Journalist7612 2d ago

Check him out over at TEvideos. He’s a genius with the Gold bond foot powder!! IYKYK..

1

Damn, need myself a watch like that

1

u/Vivid_Dig_2303 2d ago

I literally just bought that pressure washer

Nice watch

1

u/mic2292 2d ago

What is the red cylinder spray that he did?

1

u/trbotwuk 2d ago

when i saw the magnet thing on the oil filter i was like what, no way!

Torque the oil pan bolt but screw the oil filter on until it stops?

1

u/Emergency-Pack-5497 2d ago

I watched it with no sound and just assumed he said "Hey guuyz!" at the beginning

My guy only needs to do another 250,000 oil changes to break even on all that nice kit

1

u/LtNguyen83 3d ago

Best part = “Simba!”

-1

u/wackbirds 3d ago

I was taught to use clean oil on the filter gasket rather than dirty because of the particles possibly interfering with a perfect seal.

29

u/Ok-Journalist7612 2d ago

Ehh… if you have particles large enough to interfere with a perfect seal on your oil filter, you have much more serious problems than a small oil leak..

0

u/wackbirds 2d ago

Could be true but let me ask you this; what reason would there be to NOT use clean oil, regardless of unlikely an issue with dirty oil would be?

4

u/beeedeee 2d ago

The reason would be that you're already under the car and haven't opened the oil to refill the crankcase yet but you have old oil right there from draining.

That being said, I always fill the filter with clean oil before I install it (unless it goes on the block sideways).

-1

u/wackbirds 2d ago

I meant what functional reason, not "if you're back under the car holding the filter and haven't opened the oil yet". I've never heard about the filling the filter with oil thing, that's interesting

0

u/beeedeee 2d ago

I don't go **back** under the car. I only go under once - I drain the oil, remove the filter, replace the filter, replace the plug, wipe up spills and then go up top to refill the oil. I'm too damned lazy to be getting up and down if I don't have to.

Filling the filter is supposed to avoid a dry start by having oil immediately available for lubrication rather than having to wait for the pump to pull it out of the pan, fill the filter, then begin protecting moving parts. It's sort of a religious debate among car folks about whether it's necessary or not. It is such a tiny level of effort to do it that I figure "why not?".

1

u/wackbirds 2d ago

I said "what reason would there be" as in, aside from a person having positioned themselves under the car with a dry filter and no access to anything but the dirty oil to lubricate the gasket, I didn't say anything about you personally doing anything or getting up and down over and over, it's like you're skimming what I'm saying and responding with a distorted idea of what my point was.

Everything I said was in relation to a person grabbing a swipe of dirty oil for the gasket, none of it had anything to do with your method of filling the filter with clean oil.

1

u/beeedeee 2d ago edited 2d ago

Man, you're taking this way too seriously. It's just a casual conversation why get all offended about it? You said you'd never heard of filling the filter and that it was interesting, so I was just explaining that.

0

u/wackbirds 2d ago

Once people start using "offended", "pressed" or "taking too seriously" I take that as my cue to to move on. Take care man.

6

u/Aggressive_Day2839 2d ago

I was also taught to fill the filter with clean oil before installing so the pump doesnt have a hard time when starting but have since learned its not exactly necessary

1

u/Which-Meat-3388 2d ago

Ever get your car back with a dent from the shop visit? Bro was just filming a tik tok.

1

u/Least-Belt-3170 2d ago

If I saw this dude flipping tools around my vehicle… major come-undone.

-2

So this is his home garage? Where he has a scissor life and an oil shelf?

1

u/odin_is_my_dog 2d ago

What, no threadlocker?! /s

1

u/Oglark 2d ago

Real question. Is 0W20 safe for an old car like this one? Shouldn't it be 10w30 or 5w30.

3

u/AFallingWall 2d ago

It's whatever the cap says.

0

u/scarletnaught 2d ago

I cannot stand the overly exaggerated movements, snappy gestures, narrating everything, etc... it's so try-hard and ridiculous.

-2

u/ObiWhanJabroni 2d ago

What a cocky insufferable way to do basic tasks. Whenever a worker puts a gopro on their head, they think they’re a fucking magician with their hands

5

u/Vaede 2d ago

God forbid someone have fun, eh grumpy?

0

u/InevitableKitchen943 2d ago

I'd rather see accurate and methodological work than this Cirque du Soleil crap. It's just an oil change, everyone makes mistakes, focus on preventing them.

-3

u/An-Unknown-Known 2d ago

Overtly annoying

-2

u/GRF999999999 3d ago

I found that to be entirely entertaining, thank you for the laughs... Deadpool?

-1

u/JoyTheGeek 2d ago edited 2d ago

I would not be that cocky about not prefilling, might be fine on new cars, but do that to a car with a lot more miles or an older car and it can lead to trouble.

2

u/WonkeauxDeSeine 2d ago

For the amount of effort it takes, it's well worth it.

2

u/JoyTheGeek 2d ago

This exactly, I've done a few without it but its just so much less stressful to take the few extra minutes. Especially if youre doing your own work.

2

u/powerhammerarms 2d ago

Which part do you mean?

-2

u/JoyTheGeek 2d ago

When he points at the oil filter and says "wHeRE dOeS iT sAy tO PReFiLl" new engines can create enough suction that usually its fine, but more worn engines or older engines in general aren't the same.

2

u/AFallingWall 2d ago

Certs / tenure bud?

0

u/JoyTheGeek 2d ago

I went to tech college for automotive repair for 2 years and have been wrenching sense i was like 5, bud. I don't have my ASE 1-8 but I do have my 609 AC Cert.

1

u/AFallingWall 1d ago

Lmao 609 is open book, probably did that shit in class with the instructor.

The fill or no fill makes no difference, until you get to high capacity filters. Idk what you're talking about with "suction", but any oil pump fron the 80s up is capable of near-instantly filling the filter on crank. For the very short amount of time it's not filled, there is adequate lubrication from residual oil on start up.

1

u/JoyTheGeek 1d ago

Well not everyone works on only things post 1980. I work on plenty of 60s and 70s stuff.

1

u/powerhammerarms 2d ago

Oh the prefilling? This is me to me. I've been around for a while and have done a bit of small work on my vehicles but I have changed out an engine or two. I also worked as a lube tech, a service advisor, and a service manager. Maybe on some of the Euros we would prefill but other than that I've never heard of it. Even then I'm only guessing. Maybe on a tractor or something? It just sounds a little bit familiar but I can't recall where.

I have done and been around literally hundreds of oil changes and did not know that people would prefill. Lubing the seal, yes. I wonder if that's more of a regional thing.

1

u/JoyTheGeek 2d ago

Not sure, again on new stuff its not super common for anything bad to happen I just dont like his sarcasm. But I have seen videos of older cars like 70s jeeps where they didn't prefill and the pump didnt have enough power to prime the engine.

0

u/BigBunion 2d ago

All fun and games until you miss the ratchet handle and ding the car.

0

u/PositiveStress8888 2d ago

Prefill the filter, it doest have to topped up just get the paper saturated.

The only possible down side is that could introduce debris that's in the fresh oil container into the filter. I mean it's not like you can get dirt in the filter lifting the open end of the filter towards a dirty car underside full of dust and dirt.

0

u/Specific_Jury_2 2d ago

Installing an empty oil filter is just lazy.

0

u/AspergerServer9000 1d ago

What a waste of datacenter capacity

I have to admit - Changing Oil was annoying but sometimes i miss that feeling of new Oil in the System now in my EV. Always felt so much more Smooth after changing, really like I was doing something worth doing :D
