Question Buying a car in Ontario and registering in Quebec
I’m graduating in electrical engineering next year and I’m looking to buy a used 2017-2018 Acura TLX 2.4L Tech Package FWD (120000km+) (13-15k CAD) for work. Someone close to me has the same car brand and I really like it, and I have enough money from my student line of credit + 3 internships to cover it. I found a lot of good deals in Ontario, but I can’t find many resources on the process of buying a used car from a dealership in Ontario and then registering it in Quebec. Is there anything I need to know? Like what should I tell the dealer? Right now my plan is to negotiate online, book a ticket for 120-140 to go to Ontario, do inspection then drive the car back, then register it with the SAAQ, do the safety inspection etc. Is there anything else I can do to save time and money and avoid problems?

Employment How do I even get a minimum wage job?
So I've recently turned 18, I'm still pursuing my diploma since when I was in high school I missed a few courses while getting medical treatment, just need a few credits and yada yada, though I'm doing it online.
I live London (Ontario, obviously) and I'm just trying to get any no experience student job. Waitress, cashier, cook, etc etc. I check Indeed every other day and submit my resume to any of these student type jobs, they are all minimum wage. I've been doing this for months and I still haven't even received an interview, or any word back for that matter and certainly not a job. Since my schooling is online and therefore asynchronous I'm not even requesting flexible hours or anything!
My families patience is starting to wear a bit thin but thankfully they are still generally supportive and I'm not worried about being homeless (yet) but I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I just want to work, I have nothing to do all day but be unproductive and stew in my own thoughts. I just want a minimum wage job. So if anyone has ANY advice please let me know, as I'm kind of at a loss.

Discussion Off road use vehicle/ DIY side by side
I have an old Suzuki sidekick currently has no plates as it was a parts vehicle. I’m wanting to turn it into a DIY side by side/UTV to use mainly on my farm but would also like to use it on some crown land connected by some old logging roads.
Wondering if anyone knows of a way I can get a UTV plate for this vehicle so it’s somewhat legal?
I’ve heard of registering it as a homemade vehicle but that technically requires the vehicle to be completely homemade not something that was modified out of an existing on road vehicle.
Let me know.

Question Did the Ontario Science Centre ever have a Sonic statue???
I have this vivid memory of a sonic the hedgehog statue right front of the stairs in the entrance of the science centre. I was telling my friends and they won’t believe me. Maybe it wasn’t in the science centre but I swear it was.
The statue was of modern sonic and I think he was hitting a pose similar to the render of him giving a thumbs up. If anybody has any pictures of it or proof that it was there I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello, wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a therapist who does online work that is eligible for insurance in Ontario. Ideally looking for someone who does psychodynamic therapy and/or specializes in therapy for relationship issues (NOT couples therapy). Thanks!!

Discussion Help me find a donor
Hello everyone
I’m a 38-year-old woman from Southern Ontario, currently searching for a living kidney donor. I have been looking for a donor for over a year.
My kidneys originally failed when I was 17 years old. I spent five years on dialysis before receiving a kidney transplant in 2010. That transplant gave me 15 wonderful years of life and freedom from dialysis, but unfortunately it failed last year, and I’ve been back on dialysis since September 2025.
As you can imagine, going through this for a second time has been a very difficult adjustment. While I remain hopeful, I am now searching for a living donor.
Both my father and brother recently completed the initial screening process, but unfortunately neither is able to donate due to their own health issues. My transplant team has encouraged me to continue reaching out and exploring every possible avenue.
Aside from kidney disease, I am healthy, active, and looking forward to getting back to living my life. A transplant would mean the opportunity to spend more time with my husband (diabetic, not able to donate) , my family, my two dogs, and to pursue the things I love.
If you or someone you know has ever considered living kidney donation and would like to learn more, I would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. ❤️
Note:
I am blood type: O+
**If your blood type isn’t O+, please don’t assume you can’t help.*\*
Canada has a Paired Kidney Exchange Program. This is how a LOT of recipients receive their transplanted kidneys since donors aren’t always a match. If you aren’t a direct match for me, you may still be able to donate a kidney to another recipient who is compatible with you. In return, another compatible donor in the program would donate a kidney to me. It’s essentially a “kidney swap” that allows multiple people to receive compatible transplants when the original donor and recipient aren’t a match.
The Living Donor Program coordinates all of the testing and matching, so you don’t need to know whether you’re compatible before reaching out. If you’re interested in learning more, they’ll guide you through the entire process, and there’s absolutely no obligation to continue at any stage.

Question Missing VIN sticker on my car door is blocking my safety inspection in Ontario and I'm completely stuck
Hey everyone, I'm in Ottawa and I've hit a wall I didn't see coming. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
I'm trying to sell my 2016 Nissan Rogue. When I went to book the safety inspection, I found out that under some new rules the inspection station has to take a photo of the VIN sticker on the driver-side door jamb. My car doesn't have one. Without that photo, they won't do the inspection. Without the inspection, I can't sell the car.
I bought it in 2023 from a guy on Facebook, and the missing sticker was never an issue back then. I honestly have no idea if it got removed or fell off while I owned it, or if it was never there to begin with.
I've spent days chasing this and keep getting sent in circles:
Nissan dealers: I called several around the region. Every one said Nissan corporate doesn't allow them to do it.
Nissan Canada customer care: They said that since I'm not the first owner, they can't help me.
Service Ontario: They told me to get it from Nissan Canada or a "third-party seller," but couldn't say who that is or what would be accepted.
So the dealers point to corporate, corporate says no, and the government points back to Nissan. Meanwhile I have a car I can't legally sell.
If you've dealt with this, even on a different brand, I'd love to hear what worked. Did you find a third-party shop or seller that made a replacement label an inspection station accepted? Did you get another way to verify the VIN?
I'm running out of options here, so any lead at all would help. Thanks!

Article Doug Ford says endangered species aren’t worth protecting
The Ford government repealed the Endangered Species Act. It was once the strongest law of its kind in Canada. But the Ford government replaced it with the Species Conservation Act to move projects faster.
Doug Ford’s new law:
Shrinks habitat to a den or a nest excluding feeding, breeding and migration zones
Ends expert review, developers can simply register online and start work
Drops more than 100 species from Ontario’s list of species at risk
Ontarians filed more than 61,000 comments opposing Bill 5 but Doug Ford passed it anyway.
Now developers can just show up and start bulldozing the habitats species rely on.

Question help with ohip renewal
Hoping someone here has been through this, because I'm losing my mind and feeling hopeless
My Ontario health card expires on November 1. I'm in Ottawa. I became a citizen recently and they took my PR card when that happened, so I lost the main piece of ID I had. I don't have a driver's licence or an Ontario photo card either.
ServiceOntario says you need three originals to renew: proof of citizenship, proof of residency, and proof of identity with your name and signature on it. Here's where I'm at:
- Citizenship: I only got an e-certificate online, no paper copy. I can print it from my IRCC account, but Ontario's page only mentions "paper document or card" so I don't know if they'll take a printout.
- Identity: this is the problem. The health card itself doesn't count as ID for renewing the health card. None of my credit cards have a signature strip (the one card that does is a debit card, which isn't accepted). I have an expired foreign passport, which I think might count since the list just says "passport (Canadian or foreign)", but I can't tell if expired is okay.
I also went down a rabbit hole trying to get an Ontario photo card first, which needs a guarantor form that only certain professions can sign, and that has nothing to do with what I actually need. So that was a waste.
Questions for anyone who's done this:
- Has ServiceOntario accepted a printed IRCC e-certificate as proof of citizenship?
- Did they accept an expired foreign passport as identity?
- Do they take walk-ins in Ottawa, or do I need to book? Any location you'd recommend?
- What did you do about the gap if your card expired before the new one showed up?
I'm planning to call them Monday, but I'd love to hear real experiences first. Thanks in advance.
Politics Ontario buried its own problem gambling study. I spent 2.5 years finding out what happened
