Pimp C was furious at Andre 3000....

Post image

“Fck this muthafcka!” 👀🔥😂

André 3000 revealed that one of the most iconic openings in Hip-Hop almost caused him a serious disagreement with Pimp C.

When André received “Int’l Players Anthem”, he decided his verse would sound better if the drums completely disappeared during his opening. The problem was he made the change without asking UGK first:

“Pimp was so mad at me because they sent the beat and I wrote my verse, put my words down and I took the beat out for me to rap.

When I sent it back to them, Pimp was like, ‘Fck this muthafcka, man! This n***a done damn took my beat out! Who the f*ck he think he is?!’ So he was really mad at the choice that I had made to take the beat out”.

Someone in UGK’s camp eventually explained that once André finished his drumless opening, Pimp’s entrance with the beat dropping back in would hit even harder.

Pimp ultimately went with it, and the exact thing that initially pissed him off became one of the most recognizable moments of the entire record.

Need a honest answer here: where do yall rank 3 stacks?

This feels like an AI prompt, especially with that last question. That said, this is my favorite hip hop song so I’ll play along.

Dre made the absolute best choice and I’m glad he held firm. I’m glad Pimp C eventually came to. Andre’s verse is perfect and the beat drop is one of the best ever done.

Where does Andre rank, for me? Number 1. I’ve said it before (& been downvoted, mindblowingly) … he has everything I would ever want in a rapper. He’s clever, funny, relatable, & personable. He’s creative as fuck, his rhyme schemes are incredible, & his flow is otherworldly. He’s got a cool voice & is super listenable. His content is diverse, he can go from deep & thought-provoking to making JAMS. So he doesn’t have a solo hip hop record? I don’t give a fuck. He’s half of the best hip hop group ever and he’s made multiple classics. As for TLB, it’s an excellent record on its own, too.

Yeah it’s crazy when people discredit 3000 because of lack of solo discography. You just had to be there and witness in real time. Same thing I say about Black Thought. No classic solos but who cares, I know what I hear and it’s bars and it’s artistic and it’s poetic. My personal Mt. Rushmore is always gonna be Tribe, OutKast, The Roots & Mos/Kweli. Even though my fav lyricists from those groups are qtip, Andre, black thought, and mos - I always say the group because they wouldn’t be them without Phife, big boi, Malik b and kweli.

I’d also like to add that Andre’s “featuring” discography is some of the best features/verses in the history of hip hop. You can make an album out of just his features and it would be nonstop classic verses after another.

This is such old news. Get rid of this AI slop.

Small subs have been taken over by AI slop. It's a shame

AI slop is trash, but calling everything AI slop detracts from its definition. If a story is old news, then it’s old news, not slop. Obviously this is an old story. Pimp C been dead for a minute and the song is almost 20 years old.

Something about the way the post is written makes it feel like AI. The story is true, but the format feels off.

Looked like AI crap to me. I called it how I saw it. Don’t like my response? Move on my friend.

You right. Feel like the last sentence gave it away too. Like mfin Claude talkin to us

Obviously it's old, as Pimp C is no longer with us. Got it off of DJ Whoo Kid's social media, as the watermark shows

Still looks like AI garbage, regardless of who you ripped it from. If you just copied and pasted some other article, why not say that in the post itself?

DJ Whoo Kid's name is right there. The pic is usually the first thing people see. I thought it would be redundant amd just thought it was an interesting story he was sharing. It ain't even that deep.

So…, I typed a text to a girl I used to see. Claiming that I chose this cutie pie with whom I want to be and….. I fucking love that verse and that whole song goes harder than it has any right to

Am I completely wrong or did juicy J and dj Paul make the beat?

u/peechka3 23d ago

Sure. They did the superior original Choose U by Project Pat too

One of the things I love with this song is the massive differences between 3K verse and Pimp C. One is talking about getting married and the other is talking about pimping. It ends up flowing so well together.

And this is why the project pat version is FAR superior. Anytime i hear the outkast and ugk version I turn it off.

11 hours later and you’re STILL on here defending that trash choice? Cmon let it go.

u/TellEmWhoUCame2See 24d ago

Damn 12 hours now and counting...........i really hurt your feelings

1

u/MonkeyManJohannon 24d ago

It clearly got your panties in a bunch pretty intensely for you to continue clamoring on about it 12 hours later.

The most overplayed song of all time anywhere. Extremely overrated, just my honest opinion. And I'm someone who is a big fan of both UGK and Outkast
