Discussion Should developers stop making games that require 5090 for max settings now that the card is clearly not for gamers and is accessible to 0.1% of community?

Post image

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

It still is. While the prices suck, and every normal person/hobby is getting fucked left and right since covid, native 4k 60 is still a future spec.

I'm implying we won't be owning future cards. Ever.

EDIT: the cope under me is amazing.

Do you really think that this year is when suddenly the entire field of technology stops advancing? 'Cause I don't buy it.

No, I don't. That happened years ago.

So, the claim is that we'll never get a GPU faster than the 5090?

His claim is that per dollar spent we won't get any. If there are more capable cards it will be because they draw more power (not sure why that's a benchmark for him but he brought it up), they will be more expensive, and they won't even be available for sale

If you agree with him, want to formalize that? "At no point will there be a video card capable of more performance than the 5090, at a lower power budget and for less than $4,000-equivalent in 2026 USD"?

(If you don't agree with him, then no worries :V)

So years ago we got the last GPUs already?

Damn i must've missed it and accidentally bought a 9070XT a few months ago, u think i'll still be able to return it?

Did you pay way more for it? Or did it cost the same as your last one?

I thought so.

It cost the same as my last GPU, probably even less adjusting for inflating.

Dork.

Edit: Hey Gillet, check out this dork-ass evidence that my top-tier nvidia GPU ten years ago was even more expensive than the current top-tier AMD gpu. Too bad you blocked me instead of having an actually useful discussion about tech prices.

Now you're just lying.

Sad.

AI has been around way longer than people think, we just didn't have the RAM to make it global: The Computer Chronicles - Artificial Intelligence (1984)

I know the whole story, thing is, it wasnt used much until recently. Not just due to speed, but compute limitations as well.
