I'm pretty sure it's been stated before that it's not Sony holding back Bloodborne remaster or pc port.

11

u/Euler007 15h ago

It's 100% FROM or Miyazaki having a veto. If we could see the contract we'd have our answer.

1

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

It's not on the contract, Shuhei Yoshida spoke about this in Kinda Funny. Sony is afraid of damaging their relationship with Miyazaki and From Software which is why, when Miyazaki said no, they didn't brute force their way past him. Not necessarily something stated in the contract since technically Sony owns the IP, just unfortunate but smart business

u/AmIJustAnotherPerson 16h ago

Sony and From are throwing the ball at each other. Who would you rather believe, Sony, which is a company that focuses solely on console exclusives, or FromSoft, which has developed every game with PC in mind?

9

u/Sir-Uther 15h ago

When have they developed every game with PC in mind?

The only game out of the box that supports ultra wide resolutions, and online without mods is dark souls 1 remastered. The original had to be modded to be playable because it was released in such a terrible state.

They cap the fucking frame rate , don’t support all resolutions, and refuse to change it.

1

u/Difficult_Setting140 14h ago

It's built too deep in that old ass engine of theirs.  Next one will fix all that stuff.

But hey, still better than a Koei Tecmo pc port.

1

u/Risdit 13h ago

They cap the fucking frame rate

I don't think you really understand that the engine that darksouls runs on literally breaks if the frame rates go higher or lower.

If the framerate goes higher than 60 fps elevators stop working completely, animations get sped up and gravity drags you down way faster if you don't have a specific mod that tries to emulate more frames without "fixing" the bugs that come with higher or lower frame rates. Stuff above 30 fps is not stable in darksouls and you'd also spend a LOT more time getting stuck in walls and falling through the earth

You can even see this shit happening in elden ring speedruns where they lower the fps further than what's intended and you can catapult your characters at high speeds across the map

Every game with PC in mind? All of their games have a half-assed pc ports. They are console primary, pc for money.

2

u/AmIJustAnotherPerson 15h ago

They were due to the fact Demon Souls were also partly developed through Sony's Japan Studio. Every game that From Soft exclusively developed, was with PC in mind, exception being Duskbloods which is solely developed by From and funded by Nintendo.

Sony literally worked on BB and Demon Souls PS3. Any other game, unless I'm mistaken, was untouched by Sony when it comes to development.

Furthermore, due to the partly skewed ownership of the Demon Soul's IP, I assume Bluepoint was able to work on the Demon Souls Remake, which could have also be done for BB, unless FromSoft somehow vetoed it.

1

u/2ndBestUsernameEver Origin did nothing wrong 10h ago

Having a PC version at launch is not “having PC in mind,” especially with how bad the Dark Souls ports were when they came out

1

u/TeddyFromBobs 13h ago

Everything they do is for money.

They are a for profit entertainment company.

0

u/Johnlenham 14h ago

So you've played Demon souls and Bloodborne on pc via a legitimate market place have you? I'm looking forward to Duskbloods..

Oh.

15

u/VegetaFan1337 15h ago

FromSoft, which has developed every game with PC in mind?

What revisionism is this??? Dark Souls pc port was so bad DSfix needed to exist. All their games have had awful PC ports until recently.

3

u/Bm0515 14h ago edited 14h ago

So true. No widescreen support and locked fps is definitely not „developed with PC in mind“

2

u/ProbsNotManBearPig 14h ago

Was there a pc port or nah? Because that’s what was being discussed. Not quality of the pc port.

5

u/SuperCruisePanther 14h ago

The quality of the PC port was being discussed, that's why they said, "FromSoft, which has developed every game with PC in mind."

If something was low quality for PC how could you have developed it with PC in mind?

2

u/Difficult_Setting140 14h ago

They worded it very poorly, but also probably still correct.  When developing games they've always planned to release it on PC from the start. Sony plans to not release shit.

2

u/SuperCruisePanther 14h ago

Then why did they such a bad job on the PC ports for all their ganes since Demons Souls? Why do they plan to release poopoo? Who plans for a bad release???

2

u/Difficult_Setting140 14h ago

Mostly cuz their game engine is old. Those games are locked 60 fps on consoles too which could easily run some of them higher. That point alone clearly indicates it's not a pc neglect thing.  But you still missing the point so let me spell it out more clearly

Fromsoft releases all their games on PC.

Apart from a short stint Sony never does and has made it abundantly clear they never will again.

2

u/SuperCruisePanther 14h ago

Releasing all their games on PC is not the same as releasing with PC in mind. A man can wear women's underwear. That does not mean that was the manufacturer's intended and first audience. They develop for consoles and PC is a lazy afterthought for more sales.

2

u/Difficult_Setting140 13h ago

That was the case for their first few games but most certainly not for Elden Ring or for anything going forward.  Er's lead development was for pc. It has the most features and the best support. Oh and uh one other thing. It also sold the most copies on PC. So I think it's pretty obvious where their focus will be next.

3

u/NatseePunksFeckOff 7600X | 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB 6000/30 14h ago

Why are you changing the argument? The original argument was that FromSoft "developed every game with PC in mind" which is absolutely not true. Was there a PC port? Yes, there was. But this isn't an argument for any side as either side has reasons for or against PC ports, and each side blames the other.

2

u/Bm0515 14h ago

The statement was clearly „developed with PC in mind“, which means more than just porting to PC.

Fromsoft games have horrible or no support for widescreen, FPS locked at 60, and lets not even start talking about mouse & keyboard as control input. That is not „developed with PC in mind“, that is ported to PC - and often badly.

1

u/ForensicPathology 14h ago

People say anything to make others believe their weird online console wars.

5

u/SpiritofBatman 15h ago

Fromsoft never did Demon's Souls for pc either. When Sony started releasing pc ports of all there games. They didn't do Bloodborne. Which Sony is stupid but they can't be that stupid.

1

u/SHAQBIR 14h ago

Demon Souls and couple of other games were supposed to be on pc from that Nvidia leak years ago but I guess the move to go exclusive only was also thought out years only because of the poor sales.

1

u/Tradizar 14h ago

imo, if you keep pc in mind, you have to keep keyboard in mind too. And from software games are terrible woth keyboard and mouse. They are primarilary a console game studio

0

u/Jalina2224 15h ago

Because Fromsoft doesn't own the ips for Demon's Souls and Bloodborne. It really is on Sony for not bringing these games to PC. They own the full rights to these games and could have ported them over but did not.

1

u/SpiritofBatman 15h ago

From what i hear ir's less they could but didn't want to without Fromsofts blessing.

1

u/Jalina2224 15h ago

Sure they wanted Fromsoft to be involved i get that. But when you have a large portion of fans wanting more, it shouldn't matter. If Sony really, really wanted to give the fans what they want (Bloodborne PC port/remaster/remake.) They could do it without FS.

4

u/Bolt_995 15h ago

FromSoftware has always been console-first. The master race needs to get this through their heads.

7

u/Nergal997 15h ago

What a pathetic level of fromsoft glazing. "FromSoft, which has developed every game with PC in mind?" lmao. Like Dark Souls 1 which was borerline unplayable on mouse and keyboard?

5

u/Nikushaa 14h ago

They haven't developed a single game with pc in mind lol their flagship is locked at 60fps

1

u/Difficult_Setting140 14h ago

They meant they have planned on releasing every game on pc. So yes they are still in their mind.

2

u/Succubace 13h ago

Dark Souls 1 was borderline unplayable on PC in general!

2

u/CyberAssassinSRB 15h ago

I would not trust the one that would have to do the work to port it

1

u/bemused-chunk 15h ago

i don’t remember Kings Field 2 on pc…

1

u/HustlinInTheHall 14h ago

Even From has said it is not Sony's decision, just that they are willing to do it. They have not said under what conditions they would do it. Sony may just not want to pay for it.

1

u/Bm0515 14h ago

Idk, the duskbloods being a Switch 2 exclusive has me quite pissed off. Fromsoft‘s playerbase is not on the switch 2. I‘m probably one of the very few people who bought and played the dark souls 1 remake on switch, because that port was not very good.

1

u/Wanna_make_cash 14h ago

Fromsoft doesn't particularly care about PC. They have duskbloods now which is a switch 2 exclusive of all things.

1

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

And yet, Demon Souls and Bloodborne are the only From Software games not on PC. What a coincidence ~

1

u/VegetaFan1337 15h ago

Sony is. They want a remake to charge full price for it. FromSoft doesn't trust them to do one right after they botched the artistic vision of the Demon Souls remake. A port would be totally fine with FromSoft. But Sony won't do it.

-1

u/Lokiatreuss 15h ago

Sony wanted another studio to make the Bloodborne remaster

FromSoft saw how badly Bluepoint fucked up Demon's Souls, and said they'd wanna do it themselves

Sony said no

Not hard to understand

7

u/Darolaho 14h ago

Lol in no way did bluepoint fuck up the demon souls remake. The remake is almost perfect the only real issue being a change in art style

0

u/Lokiatreuss 14h ago

"the only issue is the thing that ruined it in the first place" yeah? No shit? Ruining the core art direction and the creator's intent is what ruined it. I know this? That's why it's disliked

3

u/Darolaho 14h ago

I will take that any day in favor of improving how the game plays.

30 fps is unplayable garbage

-2

u/Lokiatreuss 14h ago

It's not unplayable if you're not an entitled, spoiled child

3

u/Darolaho 14h ago

Yeah I'm entitled spoiled meanwhile you are over here throwing a temper tantrum that people can enjoy games that you didn't like

0

u/Lokiatreuss 14h ago

Not at all. I'm stating the objective fact that Demon's Souls remake missed the mark on preserving the original art direction. It's something YOU said yourself. I played it and did like the gameplay a lot, but it felt soulless in terms of artstyle. That's all I've been saying

10

u/SpencerM11 15h ago

This is not at all what happened. Stop making fanfiction of fucking corporations lmfao

2

u/Jimbob209 9800X3D | Gigabyte 9070 XT | 32 GB 6000Mhz | Gigabyte B650 15h ago

What happened then

3

u/SpencerM11 15h ago

Sony has wanted to port and remaster it. Miyazaki has a personal connection to the game, so declined everything.

2

u/Jimbob209 9800X3D | Gigabyte 9070 XT | 32 GB 6000Mhz | Gigabyte B650 15h ago

Where did you find that info?

5

u/underfusion 15h ago

0

u/Aftermoonic 12h ago

Im going to hold your hand very tight here... Tell me the difference between a remaster, a remake, and a multiplatform port... Go ahead

2

u/VegetaFan1337 11h ago

Port is the same game ported to different platforms. Remaster is when you add things like higher resolution, higher FPS, better lighting, optional settings, etc. that the original game/platform did not have. Remake is when you the game is built up from scratch.

Dark souls Remastered is a remaster.

Demon Souls (2020) is a remake.

-4

u/VegetaFan1337 15h ago

Sony wanted to REMAKE it. Cause remakes make more money than remasters. FromSoft doesn't trust them to do one right after they botched the artistic vision of the Demon Souls remake. A port would be totally fine with FromSoft. But Sony won't do it.

4

u/HustlinInTheHall 14h ago

There is zero evidence for these "Demon's Souls was botched" claims people throw around. The DS remake was fine. I assume if From is preventing remakes now it is because Bluepoint didnt change much about the original and From would want to actually make bigger changes.

0

u/VegetaFan1337 11h ago

zero evidence

1

u/SpencerM11 15h ago

Do you have a source? Only source i can find is thag Miyazaki declined everything from playstation, saying either they do it or no one else. NOTHING going against bluepoint at all.

0

u/underfusion 14h ago

2

u/SpencerM11 14h ago

This doesn’t answer my question. This just says that Fromsoft wants to do it themselves. Nothing in this goes against bluepoint or sony.
“I was actually hoping to do it myself” is not the same as “you fucked up so now im doing it”.

0

u/Lokiatreuss 15h ago

It's literally what happened. It's been stated multiple times for ages now

4

u/SpencerM11 15h ago

Miyazaki has a personal connection to bloodborne. Sony wanted to port it/remaster it but he declined every even touching it.

It has nothing to do with your fanfiction about fromsoft being pissed at bluepoint

-1

u/Lokiatreuss 15h ago

If you get all your info on Reddit, yeah, I could see why you think that

2

u/SpencerM11 15h ago

Do you have a source that fromsoft specifically said bluepoint did a bad job, which is the reason why they won’t port or remaster bloodborne?

0

u/Difficult_Setting140 14h ago

Assuming Sony has any say in the matter, which they do, they would 10000% be holding it back from being ported to PC. They have completely pulled out of the market and gone hermit mode. Not to mention their exclusives have had a ton of duds lately. Bloodborne remaster is a beyond obvious easy W that they desperately need.

May not have been the case a few years ago but it certainly is now.

1

u/Sagittarjus 1h ago

tf? they're losing money like crazy right now, if fromsoft allowed them to do whatever sony wanted with bloodborne sony will be coming out with remasters, ports, remakes, sequels every single month, they'll milk the IP till dry

0

u/lukkasz323 7h ago

There is 0 reason why FromSoftware would be opposed to a PC port, when it's because of Sony that there isn't one in the first place.
