The Sony lead with devils horns is also just comically juvenile

14

u/trash-_-boat 11h ago

It's either comically juvenile or extremely boomer.

Also Steam lmao

Horseshoe theory and all that

1

u/1ceByte28 12h ago

Doesn't mean its not accurate

3

u/PrimeIntellect 10h ago

It also doesn't make sense at all, if Sony thought it would make money, they own the IP and would probably do it. Everyone acting like it's some huge international conspiracy with Miyazaki trapped in a basement against his will is ridiculous

1

u/1ceByte28 9h ago

I can't solve that problem

28

u/CageAndBale 14h ago

Also how would it be greed? They want money not less

27

u/No_Initial_7545 13h ago

When someone makes a remake of an old game, it's greed, when they don't make a remake of an old game, it's greed. It doesn't have to make sense.

Hold it back from consumers to release as a system exclusive to sell more of their consoles, refuse any conversation of release on other consoles to ensure this, discussions about remake stall because of this

14

u/CageAndBale 13h ago

If that were true they'd have done a ps5 remaster by now

2

u/Zinc-Roof_22 12h ago

Consoles actually cost the makers money.

37

u/Tameot 14h ago

I don't think Fromsoft would have rejected a PC port, a remake by Bluepoint is different

14

u/AutisticPeperoni 13h ago

bluepoint is an external studio that would make the remeastered version but after myiazaki saw how they "butchered" the demon souls remastered he refuses to let them touch his other masterpieces.

32

u/Super-Employment-323 13h ago

Source? I can't find a single article about Miyazaki views on the remake other than positive.

Are you just making shit up?

1

u/AutisticPeperoni 10h ago

i just tried to link a source and my comment was deleted for rule 3. There is about it a post in the demon souls sub. The primary source is a guy called "Nathan the hater" or so. i dont know how trustworthy that is but its accepted by a big part of the community.

1

u/admiralvic 2h ago

The primary source is a guy called "Nathan the hater"

The dude is Nate the Hate (only correcting so if someone wants to search they won't have issues), and he is considered a tier 2 on the gaming leaks subreddit. So, he isn't perfect, but trusting him isn't out of the question.

-3

u/hartigen 12h ago

it was some Sony leaker claiming it. Miyazaki absolutely hates that steaming pile of shit remake

9

u/Super-Employment-323 11h ago

ok, just making shit up then

7

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

Bluepoint was a first party studio

15

u/MadOrange64 13h ago

How the hell is Demon Souls Remastered "butchered"!?

-1

u/derteava 12h ago

Significant downgrades in both the visual presentation as well as music. I can't imagine anyone who has played both feeling otherwise unless they have a faulty memory.

13

u/Super-Employment-323 12h ago

I've played both and the original does have better atmosphere in certain section but saying "significant downgrades" is madness. Many sections are better than the original.

6

u/MadOrange64 12h ago

Yeah I played the OG Demon Souls back in the day, it had a lot of issues and the graphics weren't it's strongest suit. People are judging the remake of how they think they remember the original game.

-1

u/hartigen 12h ago

its a reamke and not a remaster.

-2

u/SirVixofthePooSea 12h ago

They turned the flags in Latria red. That is demonstrative of their inability to get the art design of Fromsoft's OG.

u/aclashofthings 13h ago edited 13h ago

I doubt they spoke with that much candor, and "ten other" companies pitched a Bloodborne remake.

-7

u/Top-Time-5740 13h ago

Miyazaki has no say in this lmao… sony owns the rights exclusively. Bluepoint pitched it to Sony and Sony refused bc they were pushing bluepoint to work and be focused fully on some garbage live-service game instead.

7

u/Redemption1452 13h ago

You have not to be an extremely ignorant person. Sony approved it, Miyazaki was the one who said it. But we can pretend that never happened if you want to keep being ignorant https://kyusaimedia.com/news/fromsoftware-rejected-bloodborne-remake

3

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

Sony rejected the pitch because From Software said no and they did not want to hurt their business relationship. You can literally google all of this.

-1

u/Top-Time-5740 12h ago

Your argument is not at all stronger than mine lmao.
Btw yeah such a relationship, thats why Miyazaki did make a new „bloodborne” game just with a different name (as Sony own the IP) and for nintendo 🤣

2

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

Sony still owns a piece of From Software, so yeah, I do think their relationship is in a good spot if they let From Software do what they want? It's also a PvPvE game closer to a battle royale than Bloodborne. So it's really not the same thing.

What kind of childish thought process is this.

-1

u/Top-Time-5740 12h ago

With that bloodborne or darksouls game are all pvpve games lol. Also owning a piece doesnt give right to control and tell what the company can do so you are not even aware how business work lol

1

u/SirVixofthePooSea 12h ago

A Bluepoint hackjob remake is not the same as a port.

1

u/Ciappatos 10h ago

Good call by FS, fucking bluepoint made a mess of demon's souls.

1

u/cpuuuu 10h ago

I mean, leave it to the internet to yell "Corporate Greed" every time a game is re-released or remastered for a new platform and then somehow yell "Corporate Greed" when a game isn't re-released or remastered lol. And let's not forget that Bloodborne is not stuck on PS4, since it is at least playable on PS5 as well

1

u/lukkasz323 7h ago

Blocked remake, not port.

I see no reason why FromSoftware would be opposed to releasing the game on PC.

-1

u/lolpostslol 13h ago

Sony paid to make this exclusive, if they just let it go to other consoles it would be negligent from a business perspective. They are not a charity. They are probably waiting for PS6, PS6 will take long because of AI, blame AI users I guess?

5

u/kos-or-kosm 12h ago

So, it's more complicated than that. They paid for it to be exclusive and it was. It definitely got people to buy PS4s (I know because I bought one FOR Bloodborne and haven't used it for anything else). But that time has passed. Releasing it on PC would be a second wind and generate a lot of money for Sony. But the issue is that it would signal that you can just wait 10 years for an exclusive to come to PC and that might dissuade people from buying consoles for exclusives if they are patient enough to wait. Personally, I think that patient group is a lot smaller than you would think and wouldn't be a significant impact in future console sales, but that's really just my opinion. So it's not as cut and dry as "it's negligent from a business perspective".

1

u/admiralvic 2h ago

I think some people are overcomplicating it.

Bloodborne works on PlayStation 5, since they can just play the PlayStation 4 version. So, their options are to release an enhanced PlayStation 5 version, or remake it. Out of the two, remake makes more sense, though that supposedly didn't go through.

Given how much talk there is, Shuhei Yoshida (former SIE president) offered the following theory.

Bloodborne has always been the most asked thing. And people wonder why we haven’t really done anything, even an update or a remaster. Should be easy, right? The company is known for doing so many remasters, right, some people get frustrated.

I have only my personal theory to that situation. I left first-party so I don’t know what’s going on, but my theory is, you know because I remember, you know, Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, you know, what he created. So I think he is interested, but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he doesn’t want, he cannot do himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it. So that’s my theory. And the PlayStation team respect his wish. So that’s my guess, right? Theory. I am not revealing any secret information, to be clear. - Yoshida via IGN

And that likely is the long and short of it. Sony is okay with doing it, Miyazaki isn't, Bloodborne is still playable on modern consoles, so they respect his decision.

u/Zero_Trust_Issues_42 12h ago

Sony paid for its development…

4

u/ManateeofSteel PC Master Race 12h ago

The game was developed by Sony Japan Studios and From Software. They didn't pay to make it exclusive, they literally made it.

There's also a story saying Sony rejected it. At this point they're all just pointing fingers at the other guy. Nobody wants to take the heat for it.

11

u/Dacnomaniac 14h ago

Those stories are from different points in time.

Miyazaki wanted to do this himself instead of allowing it to be outsourced to a 3rd party (Bluepoint) as he loves the IP so much.

I can try and find the original article but I’m 99% sure that’s why we haven’t seen it.

I’d imagine the major success of Elden Ring is also partially to blame.

3

u/FergusFrost 14h ago

Sony rejected a pitch from Bluepoint, this does align with them respecting Miyazakis wishes to not touch it without him.

0

u/migi915 12h ago

Ever thought abt why they rejected it?
