Why can’t it still be big corporation greed still? Fromsoft is hardly being run out of someone’s garage.

Why would it be greed in that case?

Don’t want to devalue their IP and lose out on sales of their next game Or do you really think they’re saying no because of artistic integrity??

Sometimes I feel redditors play the “critique of capitalism” card selectively against companies they don’t like.

Sometimes I feel redditors think 'redditors' are some kind of hive mind. I was just curious about your perspective, because honestly to me personally Sony not making a PC port isn't even greedy, it's their IP, they paid for it to be exclusive.

I’m sorry but you genuinely believe not wanting to devalue their IP is corporation greed? How the fuck is not wanting to release a product they are unhappy with a moral failing of capitalism?

With Fromsoft, yes it is exactly artistic integrity.

I think some people more often incorrectly conflate company existing in capitalism = company evil/bad.

That isn’t necessarily incorrect. The iron cage theory kind of inherently implies capitalism makes all business evil out of necessity. If your business is successful in a world of shitty practice, it is probably because you adopted some shitty practices to get ahead of businesses that didn’t. The most obvious example is the idea of shareholders inherently implies the underpayment of workers in exchange.

Not saying it is definitely true, but to say that the assertion that all businesses in capitalism can’t be bad is also not definitely true.

Uhhhh...how exactly is making LESS money the greedy thing? It's not selectively applying criticisms of capitalism, it's called common sense. The greedy move would be to just shit out a remake cause they know it'd sell

So if it was Sony blocking a bloodborne remake it wouldn’t be out of greed?

Because ultimately Fromsoft is currently carried by Miyazaki, so for now what he says goes. I’m sure that Fromsoft as a company wants to be scummy but realistically if Miyazaki isn’t interested in it, they stand to lose more from that than they might gain from it.

To a degree that is still arguably company greed, but not in the same way people normally refer to it. It is a bit like a less extreme Valve/Gabe situation where one guy has so much power in the company that you aren’t really talking about a company at all, you are talking about one guy with a ton of resources. Greed is probably still involved, but not the same kind of company greed people refer to.
