Build Help / Purchase Advice Help buying and fitting a monitor arm to desk
I want to get a dual monitor arm for my setup to free up space but I got this metal bar in the way. My brother recommended this MSI monitor arm but I’m unsure if the clamp would fit due to the bar being in the way.(sorry for no amazon link posting this from phone and don’t know how to get the link working 🤦♂️) I can’t drill holes in my desk so I have to use some sort of clamp. Does it look like it could fit or should I look at other monitor arms? Suggestions?

I'd rather have spiders than flies or other pests (I have a lot of house plants)

interestingly enough. I havent seen any spiders crawling on or around table. all I ever see is their webs they left behind.

I dealt with the same issue when installing a clamp mount to my gfs desk. I used 2 packs of index cards. Felt like it was the cheapest, easiest, most versatile solution. Apartment dweller without power tools, so didn't want to have Lowe's or something cut a block, only for it to be slightly off. I could just add or remove index cards until they were nice and flush after compressing some with the clamp.

I got a vivo mount and it has enough clearance to get around some of those metal bars.

I use lego to close the gap on mine. It's been years and it hasn't failed yet lmao

my desk's also has this. it'll be slightly wobbly if you clamp it onto the bar directly so yeah do what the other comments say, use a padding of some sort so you clamp it past that bar

I 3D printed a block with 100% infill so it could have a completely flat and normal surface to sit on when it was clamped. Has never fallen or failed as compared to when I reduced the clamping surface due to the metal beam getting in the way. If you need a picture to explain, lmk. It's pretty straight forward tho. You can also just make it out of wood

Bro get something like this and put it on the black bar on the underside of the table. As long as it’s tight it’ll hold.
I had a hand me down desk in college and had the same issue. Worked for me for 3 years and I even moved the desk to another room without taking off the arm. I promise it works!!
