Discussion Showdown Matchmaking

Post image

I really hope they make the rank based matchmaking more accurate for the next Showdown event. I was excited for the event, since they said that matchmaking would be rank based.

I'm a div 1 regular and there was only one other guy who had reached div 1 before in my bracket, so I just got ragequits in the first 2 games and won the final relatively comfortably. All of my opponents have never finished higher than div 2. I doubt they enjoyed playing me and I'd also rather have more competitive games. This felt like taking candy from a baby.

I think everyone would benefit if they made rank based matchmaking more accurate. Games would be more competitive and nobody would get a free ride like I did.

Lucky you! I had to scrape by 2 Div 1 players before finishing the tournament with a grand victory over a Div 2 player. Tbh I think there aren’t enough Div 1 players to fill these types of events in some regions of the world so they just did Div 1 - 3 instead.

If that's the case then I understand. If it's just Konami being negligent then it needs to change.

No some div 1 players cant playy without full epic squad because of how overpowered cards are,,

There are no known matchmaking in ranking weekend events, but I alwayys end up playing 8 top1k out of 10 opponents. usually a couple of top 150

They did sort of make matchmaking rank based for this event, but they just separated players from division 1 to division 3 from players who have only reached the divisions below that. Imo, that's still too broad.

I tried. Had back to back 1k d1 guys. I'm a 1k guy myself, so pretty equal. But there isn too much of a gap between d3 and d1 players

I won against a guy 7-0.. i think he was fully frustrated. But he did try till the last minute

My first match was against Div 1 top 50k. My highest is Div 2 650k. I have never gotten to Div 1 despite being hardwired into GB Ethernet. The match had two goals where Garcia had balls phase through his torso, making me lose 2-0. This is not a real "game," it is a scam.

Anyone apart from Epics.

What's the reward for this event

1

u/PeterFile690 Lionel Messi 2d ago

Literally just the select skill tokens.

1

u/Super_While_9575 2d ago

Not worth it then. I have so many valuable skills trained on Lombardi

Yeah it's not exactly unmissable. It's only 3 games though, so there isn't really a grind.

As a mediocre div 3 player I just lost to a div 2 player.

But at least I have the idea that it was skill based. No overpowered legends, no SA.

I only wonder why I got a penalty against while I didn’t do a sliding tackle. But okay.

We need more of these less rigged events.

On the other hand, as a d2, I have to beat 3 top 5k.

That's what I mean when I say that everyone would benefit if they made it more rank based.

My 2nd account highest rank is 2.4 million, and I matched with a guy at 3k in the 2nd round, full showtime squad.

I would love to get noobs so I don’t waist 30-40 minutes for 150 positon tokens tbh
I don’t consider myself good good but still enough to beat them lol

Lucky you. I only face the toxic and sweat high-ranks. All, apart from 1 Div 2, are from Div 1, and at least 3 are ranked highly. Had little chance when all there was are broken mechanics abuse and exploit spamming alongside LBC. Things were done automatically on their end while I suffered the delayed inputs, and I highly doubt and question them being Japanese since they only Japanese fonts to their team names when seen within match and otherwise English characters for usernames with no hint of Japan if you look anywhere else.  Lost in the semis after putting the work in. Both times opponents are examples I've mentioned just earlier.

Has been like this for me in terms of matchmaking in majority of my PvP challenge/tournament events. Even the limited PvP ranking events for random showtimes I mostly have a much tougher route, apart from a little bit maybe 1 or 2 especially at the start, in contrast to the others that always boast how easy it has been for them, more often than not due to the quality of their opponents.

Well wouldn't it be more unfair if it is ranking based, that way some good players would be rewarded less than some bad players.

1

u/PeterFile690 Lionel Messi 1d ago

The reward isn't anything big though, so I'd rather have the opportunity to play some competitive games than get these rewards for playing easy games.

Unfortunately, the only "matchmaking" implemented by Konami was splitting the tournaments into two tiers: one for divisions D3–D1, and another for D4 and below. And that’s it. Everything else is a total free-for-all.

I took a look at my opponents:

Me: Best rank D2, position 439k (achieved a long time ago).

First: D3, 5.4 million, an easy match.

Second: D2, 1.4 million, a tough match; I only managed to turn it around after making substitutions around the 60th minute.

Final: D1, 71.7k, an incredibly difficult clash. I had to equalize twice, but I pulled it off - and beating a player like that makes the victory feel even better.

I played against easy opponents, the highest was 100k+ all f2p and possession all easy games even tho 1 of the went full 2 defense and i still beat him 2:0

Lucky you. I would've loved to face such opponents where it matters whenever it's needed in such events.

I am employed bro. It would take as much effort to literally load up the game and check the menus as it would to type up your comment.

Agreed, but more importantly Konami should has been doing something first to those cheaters/exploits. They are the one ruining the game regardless how fun new things konami bring to the game
