Can we please stop treating politicians like f*****g messiahs? THEY WORK FOR US!! Ang BOBO talaga ng mga Pinoy!
Honestly, I’m just so exhausted by the political fandom in this country. It’s actual brain rot at this point.
Why do we treat public officials like saintly saviors, royalty, or K-pop idols who can do no wrong? THEY ARE EMPLOYEES. They applied for a job, we picked them, and we literally pay their salaries, allowances, and security detail out of our paychecks every single month.
Yet every time a politician builds a basic 2-kilometer road, fixes a school roof, or hands out a plastic bag of rice after a typhoon, people act like it's a divine miracle.
IT IS NOT CHARITY. They didn’t use their personal bank accounts to buy those relief goods! That’s YOUR tax money—money pulled out of your pay before you even see it, and tacked onto every single grocery item you buy.
Think about it: if you hire a contractor to renovate your house and they install a toilet, do you bow down and frame their picture on your wall? No, because you paid them to do a job. But when a politician does 10% of what’s in their basic job description, people fall on their knees. And then the politician slaps their giant, ugly face on every ambulance, health center, and waiting shed like a lord giving out favors.
The worst part is how this saint-worship completely kills accountability:
Call out a bad policy? You’re automatically a "hater" or a troll.
Catch them in a corruption scandal? People hit you with "At least may nagawa!"
They fail on their basic promises? Supporters bend over backward to make excuses like they're defending their own mother.
We’ve turned politics into a toxic sports match. Everyone’s so obsessed with their "team" winning that nobody cares if the country actually works.
Real talk across the entire political spectrum: No politician is coming to save you. No color, no clan, and no strongman is a savior. They are public servants living comfortably off our taxes while the rest of us sit in three-hour traffic, wade through flooded streets, and struggle with grocery prices.
We need to stop worshipping people who work for us. Treat them like job applicants, judge them on their actual results, and hold them accountable when they mess up. Until we drop this mindset, nothing is ever going to change.
