Some relevant excerpts:
"Common Pleas Court Judge J. Scott O'Keefe acquitted Lewis after finding serious problems with the police investigation, according to a rare letter from the judge. The concerns were grave enough for O'Keefe to report the officers to the department's Internal Affairs Bureau."
"In 2023, Judge O'Keefe wrote that the problems in the Lewis investigation were severe. Among them were differing sets of evidence recorded under the same property receipt number, according to the letter. And the judge said the lead homicide detective did not appear to have investigated problems with an eyewitness' recollection of the shooting."

I... I have to say it. I have been thoroughly enjoying my recent trips to New Jersey. Like a lot. If I could afford to move to Haddonfield, I think I would.
The drivers--they stop at red lights/stop signs. Bicyclists wait for lights. O, the trees!
Just needed to get wistful for a second. I'm so sick of our shitty streets and shittier attitudes.
Litter? Didn't see ANY.
I know simple observations mean nothing in the face of our city's socioeconomic realities, but I needed to express my appreciation of having such a wildly different vibe be so close to home. And so cheap to go to/get back from.
Also, they've got Diwali being celebrated there, tomorrow!

Did you lose your greendot debit card in South today? I found it! It was on the sidewalk. Do you want it back? Or you want it cut into a million pieces while wait for a new one? I picked it up on some Good Samaritan vibes — getting a new one is an uber pain in the ass.
PM me with further instructions.

Fuck these robots and the PPD. They think they can gut the 1st amendment just so Uber can make a few bucks.

The Republican congressman’s campaign has used Patch.com posts that make unsubstantiated claims about Democratic challenger Bob Harvie.

Has anyone seen cybercabs yet? I see waymos daily but today I saw my first cybercab around broad and vine area, The damn thing had 0 idea how to drive, at least the waymos can see stuff with their lidar. Screw all this driverless crap, shit ain't gonna work, especially once they eliminate the driver and have shared rides...

At the beginning of August, I received a new Pennsylvania license plate for my vehicle. I promptly installed the new plate and notified my insurance company.
My vehicle is a black Ford and has a residential parking permit allowing me to park in South Philadelphia for extended periods. However, the permit was still associated with my previous license plate number.
On August 17, I received a parking ticket for exceeding the posted time limit.
Here is where things get confusing:
I contested the ticket, explaining the license plate change and I believed the Parking Authority would recognize the situation and allow me to correct the permit information.
However, yesterday I received a letter stating that my dispute had been reviewed and that I was still responsible for paying the fine.
To make matters more frustrating, the letter indicated that the Philadelphia Parking Authority had extended Thursday office hours until 8 p.m.
On Thursday, I arrived at the office at approximately 5:15 p.m., only to find it closed. I went across the street to another Philadelphia Parking Authority office, where employees told me they were unaware of any extended Thursday hours.
My questions is:
I understand that my residential parking permit was still associated with my previous plate. However, I would appreciate clarification on the appeals process and whether I have an opportunity to present my circumstances for further review.
I'm not trying to avoid responsibility. I'm simply trying to understand my options and ensure the situation is reviewed fairly.
Thank you to anyone who can provide guidance! Fine is $25 which I would like to keep.
Thank you!

Finally passed a bill that literally everyone was for except for Jeffery Young. Must be concerned about the 2027 primary.

Consider coming by our event in a few weeks! We’re going to read through the script aloud together, so if you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like to try acting, this is a great chance to do it in a zero stakes environment. Also this play is good as hell, so even if you don’t read that much you’re in for an entertaining time! Wear a jacket though, it’ll be chilly in the park. And then maybe beers for the game after? 🤔

Good god this city is corrupt. Can we get every candidate for city council on the record about this issue? I want to know who not to vote for.

We have a couple of homeless guys who frequently visit the alley behind our house and like to set up boxes and do a cocktail of drugs back there. Besides calling the cops, does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to ward them off? We have a toddler and just worried about safety. thanks :)

Hi, Thanks for your interest in Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site. Ongoing maintenance work is being carried out to ensure the site is both comfortable for visitors and that the original building is properly preserved. Unfortunately, the site will not reopen in 2026. We are hoping for a possible reopening in Spring 2027, though we do not yet have a firm date. Please check the website periodically for updates: https://www.nps.gov/edal/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
my note: the site they linked was just the home page. this is the actual site that talks about the conditions. this information is not on this site, which is why i inquired via email.
