Can someone explain what's going on with the DA being potentially in trouble, ideally apolitically?

I've seen headlines on a couple newspapers that the DA is in trouble, but don't actually understand what's going on. I tried asking gemini and claude and they dind't give good answers either.

I know lots of ppl have strong opinions on him personally or his progressive policies, but really just looking to understand what the issue is and how serious.

Thx.

Water Bill Too High? (Need Input from DINKs)

My wife and I are a DINK couple (dual income, no kids) in a row home, and our water bill feels a little high at about $120 a month for just the two of us. I’d love to hear from other two-person households—what are you paying? Thanks for sharing!

Edit: We’re averaging 8.4 CCFs a month in 2026, with a $15 monthly service fee and a storm water charge around $20–$25.

We only take showers, at least once a day, and I work from home.

We don’t have a washer or dryer, but we do run the dishwasher every night.

Our June–July bill was $237 and says we used 374 gallons a day, which doesn’t seem right.

Eastern State Penitentiary- Disappointing

My husband and I went to the Halloween Nights event at Eastern State Penitentiary tonight after going last year and having a blast. Tonight was incredibly disappointing. We waited in lines for more time than the actual haunted houses. The houses felt small and rushed and there were much fewer actors. There were barely any live performances which was also a let down. When we left the last house we both said “that’s it?” genuinely wondering how it could possibly be over already.

Has anyone else gone this year and felt similarly or am I being a harsh critic?

This city is so goddamn incompetent at handling road closures

Close every route north and south, no detour directions, Google Maps closure listings are wrong, entire city try to get down one street that doesn’t actually get through the closures and just circles you back, bus routes cancelled…I wish I stayed in bed.

Movie theater ranking in Philly?

Hello. I just moved into center city Philadelphia and checked out a movie at the Landmark Ritz Five theater today. I was left pretty unsatisfied in this theater experience… 20+ minute line for popcorn, bad sound quality, etc. I’m wondering what everyone’s personal favorites are for theaters in the city? Or how would you rank the theaters we have?

Btw I saw Primetime. Pretty solid, 7.9/10.

Went to a bunch of concerts this year… Here is what I learned about each venue!

I’m a planner and it wasn’t always easy to find this info ahead of each concert, so I’m sharing what I learned in case it can ever be of help! :) I’m also in my 30s now and these aging bones need to SIT. So I’m always looking for seating options at venues that are mostly standing room only.

You think this fucking funny? Blocking entrances, emergency doors, messing the local mom and pop store, baiting the cops. Fuck all of y'all, stay in school and get a fucking life. Behave yourself.

Apologies to everyone else who is an actual adult here.

Lauren: It’s actually funny because I didn’t find out how old he was until two months into us dating. He didn’t tell me. I was like, “So how old are you?” And he’s like, “Why does it matter?”

Chicken: When I was getting engaged, my oldhead friends asked, “What are you doing? Protect yourself, get a prenup.” Why would I do that? My parents are dead. Who am I gonna leave all this to? Money means nothing to me. I got plenty of it.

Attn home cooks etc. Premade Demiglace and Beef/Bone broth recs

Looking for recommendations for a butcher/deli or otherwise to find a solid premade demiglace and solid real broths/stocks. Preferably frozen and portioned, but whatever. Have some chilly weather recipes I want to tackle and, frankly, I don’t have the patience to make from scratch…

South Philly or center city area preferred.

Also taking recommendations for your go-to chilly weather heartwarming meals and recipes!

Reasonably priced bridal make up and hair

Anyone have recommendations for reasonably priced hair and make up artists in Philly that will do on site services? Experience with south Asian brides is a plus! Hoping to spend less than $1200 for both services for bride if possible

Any place selling Ichnusa in Philly?

I know this is a long shot. I only found one place online selling Ichnusa, and they wanted $24 for a 3-pack before shipping. We have tons of Italian places in the city. I was wondering if anyone has seen it around.

DJSC Tonight at KFN?

Okay long story short I grew up in the alt scene in Delco & Philly in the 90s, moved away for a long time, came back, and now none of my friends go out anymore. It's fine going to club nights with my husband - he is a good sport - but I would really love to meet other people to socialize with too! We are headed to DJSC (Depeche Mode Joy Division Smiths Cure) at Kung Fu Necktie tonight - is anyone on here going? Would love to say hi. https://www.djscphilly.com

Philadelphia Shelter Families Need Diapers, Formula & Basic Necessities — Help Us Get Them What They Need

Philly People of Hope (PPOH) recently visited Families Forward shelter after receiving reports of concerning living conditions. Our purpose was simple: conduct a community wellness check and make sure the women and children living there were okay.

What we've learned is that our unhoused families are not getting the basic necessities they need. The staff members give extremely limited supplies that was funded thru state and federal taxpayers dollars. And steal alot of the items.

We are currently raising funds to purchase diapers, baby formula, pull-ups, baby wipes, hygiene products, feminine care products, clothing, and other essential items for families in need.
