I’ve been hearing “We’ve got him now!” for ten years. It’s Lucy with the football. I fear only time/nature will solve our Trump problem.

We’re hoping for the slimmest of leads in both houses of Congress so Republicans can’t pass any more legislation. And so people can blame Democrats for not fixing everything because they have no clue how government works, including a veto.

Well it also stops the casual hand-wringing by the Republican Congress while Trump ignores every check in the constitution. That would stop immediately.

There would be some semblance of a response to stop him abusing his power, possibly even serious.

Instead we'll just get casual hand-wringing by the Democrat Congress while Trump ignores every check in the Constitution.

Some Dems want to fight back and hold him accountable. Some have already shown they will happily roll over in the name of 'decorum.' When the majority is as slim as it's projected to be, there's no room for that. Hell, when the projected Senate majority includes the likes of John Fetterman and likely keeps Schumer in the leadership role, it will probably function identically to a Republican majority.

it will probably function identically to a Republican majority.

People who think like this are the problem.

•

u/TreesACrowd 6h ago

I'm pretty sure criminals getting away with crimes are 'the problem,' buddy.

•

u/Flayum 3h ago

Yeah? That's exactly why I support Dems.

Certainly not perfect, but if you think it's functionally equivalent to what we have now then you are truly lost.

•

u/doomed461 6h ago

If you seriously think people complaining about many Democrats factually being complicit is the problem, then I have some beach-front property in Montana for sale. Great Price.

•

u/blackwolfdown Texas 5h ago

Tell me more about this beach. Does it have any good reef diving access?

Not like they've been great about passing anything in the second term, between general incompetence and Mike Johnson sending everyone home multiple times.

23

u/Indoorsman101 10h ago

It is a very bleak best case scenario isn’t it?

u/ShadowTacoTuesday 10h ago

If we’re lucky people won’t blame the 2027 and 2029 medicare cost increases on Democrats, but I’m not sure how that will pan out. I mean last election they blamed global inflation on Biden even after it came down in the U.S.

21

u/mountainwocky Massachusetts 10h ago

They are still blaming Biden for everything; doesn’t matter if it is true or not as the news rarely presents any fact checking and the media the right watches definitely does not.

The bot driven echo chamber helps perpetuate the lies.

u/ScepticalReciptical 9h ago

I don't think the lead in the House will be slim but yes the Senate if its a lead at all, would be marginal

7

u/Hyphen_Nation 9h ago

That slim lead will then depend on people cut from the same cloth as Lieberman, manchin and fetterman, where we will get breathless coverage of one person performing as a centrist, while really not doing what the majority of voters want.

Well then have an economic crash, and the full effects of the big beautiful bill, and somehow it will not be maga’s fault.

u/Explicitlime 9h ago

He will just pass shit through with executive orders.

Stuff won’t even hit the ears of the house and senate.

u/AntonSugar 10h ago

We have a Trump support problem though. That’s the actual problem.

Correct. trump becoming president is a symptom of the decline of the intellectual and moral capacity of the American people.

In 2024 a convicted criminal rapist ran for the presidency and only 31% of the American electorate opposed him.

Want a better government? Then start building a rational, informed, compassionate electorate.

Want more of the same? Then leave the electorate as-is and let social media hate continue to brainwash it.

•

u/m_sobol 3h ago

While America is fat and rich, they will look down on compassion and education as weakness. They will never reform at this stage. Their hypermasculine and militant coded language betrays them - they plan to dominate, subjugate, and absorb their neighbours and resources. They have already primed their populace to hate Canada and latinos, in advance of the invasions

The only way they learn is when they implode into national destruction. When they starve and beg, then they will appreciate the value of generosity (an offer of food will be worth gold after the famines of 2045), education (lies destroyed our country. we must seek truth and reject lies), friendship (we can only survive together. nobody farms or guards the walls alone)

12

u/Indoorsman101 10h ago

True. I’ve been curious how they will react when he goes. Will they just glom onto Junior or Vance or what?

14

u/AntonSugar 10h ago

Both Vance and Jr think they are next. But Maga won’t accept them. Maga will eat itself if they don’t have a Trump equal to hold onto. The only good thing about this is that Trump has no equal to them. He’s their god. Like most cults, they break up when dear leader dies.

And that's why billionaires give so much funding to anti-aging research.

20

u/Indoorsman101 10h ago

I think so too. I think having that much power and wealth breaks the human brain a bit. They can buy anything they want except more time.

“What was Jimmy Carter on?!”

I'm so glad Peter Thiel will never be able to find the immortality he so desperately craves.

He's terrified of death, probably because it reminds him of the ultimate limits of his power. Even being a billionaire can't save him from it.

•

u/Schlonzig 4h ago

I think those anti-aging researchers are uncomfortably close to success. It would be the end of everything.

16

u/witchgrid 10h ago edited 9h ago

Peter Thiel literally has a five year old's mentality about death: he is scared of it, thinks it's unfair, that it shouldn't happen to him, and that if it does happen to him, it will be a tragedy beyond imagining for humanity. And I'm not being hyperbolic, one of the most rich and powerful men to ever exist believes that verbatim. This fear of death informs every decision he makes.

Every time I hear illegal fireworks I check the news and so far it’s all disappointment.

"Oh, well, nevertheless..."

It happened so often that John Oliver has a recurring bit about how "we got him!"

Trump will live forever. The rich will train up Trump AI, to digitally haunt us forever as long as data centers run. We are at the cusp of full digital AI ghosts trained on celebrity data.

MAGA will unironically accept Trump bot. "Trump never died... the deep state got him... the funeral was sad... but genius Trump prepared a plan with his AI buddies Elon and Sam and Jensen... HES BACK"

Americans love comeback stories and resurrections. They will go crazy when Trump robot punches rivals on the GOP convention stage with boxing gloves.

When the Henry Cavill/ Amazon Warhammer 40k tv series releases in 2029, American audiences will be primed to accept Trump AI as the god-emperor

•

u/JakeConhale New Hampshire 6h ago

If you're suggesting voting against the Republicans will prove irrelevant, I heartily disagree.

•

u/Indoorsman101 6h ago

Oh no. Never. Vote blue every time. Nowhere to go but up!

•

u/Willinton06 7h ago

I mean, we did win on 2020

•

u/addiktion 2h ago

Even if they take him out it will be years of lawsuits and he will die before he pays any consequences. It pisses me off to know end he will leave this life without being in bars and he will pardon all the other criminals he has enabled.

•

u/oniususd 2h ago

It’s not a Trump problem so time/nature won’t fix it as you’re implying. It’s the people who are ok with Trump to get what they want problem. And those will be around for eternity. I’m sorry but we can only hope to keep them from staying on top permanently, but they will always be around and often in charge.

•

u/Indoorsman101 34m ago

You’re right. I’m not saying all the problems go away with him. But I do think he’s a multiplier. His absence can only improve things.

•

u/oniususd 32m ago

Definitely agree absence will help. He’s a unique amplifier that is difficult to replicate thankfully.

•

u/Cainga 2h ago

US politics just ping pongs between R and D infinitely. If he even illegally runs a 3rd term he would win nomination in 28, lose general. Float around until 32, dems don’t block him illegally running a 3rd term, he wins that nomination and possibly general. Only his health is stopping this.

•

u/TrashInspector69 3h ago

I’m just picturing Patrick Star when they were selling chocolate.

“WE GOT EM NOW!!” Lmao.
