Other Update from my service provider
Yesterday, I sent off a set of archive-certified copies for 2 documents that were originally supplied electronically by the archival institutions.
My provider replied with 2 datapoints which I found interesting:
My father has been assigned a case number, whereas my brother and I have not yet. Our cases were submitted together about 7 weeks ago.
My provider was advised “by the authorities” that the current processing time is 20 months from receipt of the application
Not sure if 20 months really tracks with what we’re seeing, but at least it’s a semi-realistic estimate!
Any reason to worry over the cases without numbers yet?

The estimate varies but it's generally closer to 24 months. No need to worry about lack of case signature number after only 7 weeks & also given your father was assigned one. For the last 2-3 weeks the kontaktwsc platform gives no replies; maybe their intern left :P

Also the estimate is valid for a current moment, it is totally possible that it will take even more time. It is highly unlikely the foreigner office will get more funding in the upcoming years.
It is better not to make any plans in advance and just wait.

They’re currently processing applications from about 22 months ago and they’ve been slowing down at a rate of about 1 month every 3 months for the past year or two. Unless they add more staff or change their processes I think 26-28 months is more realistic for applications being filed now.

For mine, the original application was created by Lexmotion in the system when I first paid (August/Sept 2024). I didn't have every last document at that time (not even digitally, but enough for them to start the process). I had all the physical paper copies to them until March 2025, which they said was more than enough time. Originally, they figured it would take about 18 months but as we know, things slowed down and so it took 25 months. I had them send a screenshot of my case progress this summer, and it did indeed have an initial application date of August 2024. Online and phone tracking never did show anything, just happened to wake up to an email two weeks ago saying I was a Polish citizen. Papers arriving today, passport application in a week (when it finally happens, it happens fast).

i just found out one of my relatives is from Canada 4x back and they have a much more forgiving system meaning you can go back father with none of the rigid rules of Poland, but in return the wait for review is 33 months aka 3 years., it seems like the wait times for most descent based applications for most countries is long due to demand.
Interestingly enough, Canada has an expedited review process: applicants seeking a proof of Canadian citizenship certificate under Bill C-3 can qualify for urgent processing if they face exceptional hardship or urgent timelines

This subreddit is for Confirmation of Polish Citizenship and secondarily, we inform about KP. That said, if you connect with those seeking Canadian citizenship under C-3, you will find that the IRCC is generally incompetent and capricious. Many granted Urgent status stagnate like other applicants, and the current wait time is 33 months. No one is happy with the processing situation in Poland. But they are certainly outperforming Canada with its thousands of employees! For further research I suggest visiting r/CanadianCitizenship and exploring their wiki.

It is a new programme. It is not clear whether people who applied today will really get the decision in 33 months. Especially that there will be significantly more applications than in Poland.
Also as far as I heard urgent processing is not that urgent anymore. People mass apply for it, so if each case is urgent, none of it is.

You have to have a very well documented reason for it and a request for it needs to be approved. Plenty of people with reasons that are on the list of acceptable reasons and/or have been approved for it are left to languish for no good reason. It's a charitable system in that the chance exists, but it's not charitable in that anyone who says pretty please gets it, and plenty of people who it's supposedly designed for don't benefit from it at all
