Brain Storming What if dinosaurs are the reason predators are like that.

I had this idea a while ago so hear me out what if the reason yautja are obsessed with earth's hunt was because they had a grudge against that planet. Like imagine millions of years ago ancient yautja landed on earth for the hunt and instead they got hunted and overwhelmed by dinosaurs of all kinds to the point they got kicked off the planet and because of the shame they brought to their clans they spent centuries or even thousands of years developing and improving their technology to be a match to dinosaurs but when they returned to earth they discovered the harsh truth which is there's no more dinosaurs on the planet they were too late so they pointed their attention to the closest dinosaur looking creatures which is the xenomorphs so they bred them as the ultimate imitation of dinosaurs and as time goes on they also shifted their attention to humans as they now see them worthy of being hunted. All of this because dinosaurs.

What'd ya think?

I think you don't quite understand how long ago dinosaurs were.

And FOR how long they were

in all fairness, do we have any canon that indicates their passage of time is the same as ours? If not, those millions of earth years could be equivalent to thousands of years on their planet, no?

I mean sure they're year may be different as a year is just a way of saying a complete orbit of the star.

So a year on the Yautja homeworld probably won't be 365 earth days.

But just becase their year is longer doesn't mean they live longer.

I mean if the orbit of earth around our sun was 182.5 days instead of 365 then I would be 76, but I wouldn't be any older, I'm just using a smaller measurement.

I'm talking more about time dilation and less about the length of a year

In the Rage War AVP books (highly recommend btw) humans have developed 'dropholes' to travel through deep space. In order for people to travel through them they have to enter cryo sleep or the journey will seem like 100 years (even though its instantaneous travel) and they'll go completely insane (there's more to it but y'know spoilers).

At one point a Yautja has to travel through some dropholes and does not enter cryo. Later they're observed as if they caught a good rest during the drop. IIRC most all the Yautja in that story are thousands to tens of thousands of years old by our measure of time.

Not sure how much that answers your question but that part always stuck with me after reading those books years ago.

I think, if something that drastic was happening we'd have heard about it by now.

I think it's cool

I also don't think it is likely

Xenos are not a dinosaur-like predator. They are a plague

Yeah after seeing some of predator badlands i know for sure there's more creatures that are much stronger than dinosaurs especially that basilik? Idk i still havent watched a lot of predator movies i just know some snippets of lore. Still that's a good motivator for the yautja to prepare and evolve their technology.

i think it could still work. We see Genna in the time of Dek. Unless there is canon stating otherwise, it’s fair to assume their creatures evolved, much like ours did. Considering that our planet, dinosaurs evolved to be birds, or crocodiles or whatever else, we know that things dont always evolve to be bigger. Sometimes they evolve to be smaller. Also we would need to know if time passes the same, or the difference in the rate of time passage. Perhaps millions of earth years is equal to thousands of years on their planet.

Im just a casual fan speculating. But considering that space travel is a thing in this universe, i dont see how it would be out of the realm of possibility.

Theres also the consideration of technological advancements. We see Genna in the time of Dek, and the tech that exists then, but unless we have a baseline for what tech existed thousands of years prior, we cant assume they the weaponry suitable to kill such beasts.

Im sure diehard comic fans will have more input, but as a casual viewer, i dont see how it’s out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah that's basically how i speculated it. Like the pressure of dinosaurs forced predators to evolve to counter them and by the time they invented instant space travel dinosaurs were already gone

What year in high school did you drop out?

It makes no sense. In Predator: Badlands, we’re introduced to the planet Genna, known as the “Death Planet,” which has things far worse than dinosaurs...

I’ve chosen to believe that Disney’s Badlands is non cannon bad fan fiction. There is no planet Genna.

That's your choice, but Disney will still hold all the Pred movies as canon: choosing to ignore it won't make it less true

A species that is capable of interstellar travel just for the sake of hunting gets beaten by dinosaurs? Nah

Son mitad reptiles modificados con 🧬 de los ingenieros y los insectoides .... No le veo chiste .... Pero hasta en las mismas especies hay divisiones .... Todas las teorías son válidas .

Dinosaucers > yes
Dinosaurs > no

I mean, the reason why Predator movies always involve humans is because... well... we make those movies. So the stories will always revolve around us...

That said, assuming that the Yautja kinda stayed the same all these years... dinosaurs wouldn't be necessarily the hardest of prey i think. At least not compared to what we've seen in Badlands.

I think it would be more plausible that the Yautja like Earth bc hunting dinosaurs might have been entertaining but i doubt they'd lose to it unless they were noob preds

The last (non avian) dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago. It's very doubtful the Predators were a space faring species that long ago. If you do include dinosaurs in their list of prey (as strongly suggested in Badlands), you can always handwave some other interstellar civilization that transported dinosaurs to some other planet before the K-T event. If you buy certain extra canonical lore (mainly pre Prometheus), the Space Jockeys MIGHT go back that far.

Very fun. Idk if I would go with they made there texh better for dinos but I definitely could see them coming back and being bummed. Until a couple of thousand years later and suddenly you arnold. And the gang chooping down trees with guns. Then they were happy again.

isn't there a whole thing that the yautja were former salves who broke free from their oppressors and then made hunting the culture?

Oh, that would be a fun movie to think about.

If so, I want to see the predator that claimed the dinosaur looking skull in the backgrounds of some ships.
