Community Post QuoteIQ and Forever Self Employed links are now completely banned from this subreddit.

Starting now QuoteIQ (previously restricted) AND Forever Self Employed AND Mike V (All About Pressure Washing) will be permanently banned from being mentioned or linked. Automod has been edited to hardblock any links or mentions of the two.

The reason for the banning is that QuoteIQ, All About Pressure Washing, and Forever Self Employed and (or someone working on their behalf) sent a modmail to us telling us to remove posts critical of both QuoteIQ AND Forever Self Employed and their owners or be subject to legal proceedings. The links to the three posts are seen here. Mike V from QuoteIQ and Justin from Forever Self Employed should be ashamed at trying this. They are apparently not happy that these posts are available to steer people from spending their hard earned money in a more meaningful way.

  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/pressurewashing/comments/10yizo8/has_anyone_purchased_forever_self_employed/

Here are some screenshots of the modmail messages they sent threatening legal action and DMCA takedowns:

Here is the person they hired off of Fiverr to send the messages and try the DMCA takedowns. Its clear the companies must be run by absolute clowns to be trying this is such a shit way. If they suceed in removing anything then ill just repost the posts. They clearly dont want negative info being visible when they get googled as its hurting their SEO because reddit shows up so high in the searches.

As a reminder, when starting out you do not need YouTube salesmen taking your money to learn how to properly clean in this industry. The info is out there on this subreddit and various pressure washer forums and groups. It just takes a little bit of googling with the proper terms to find it all freely available. These now banned companies exist solely to separate pressure washers from their money. Mike V has been pushing for his subscribers to come to reddit to post about their companies to comment and upvote each other.

Fails Welcome to Monday

Forced maintenance Monday today.

Hopefully a local welder can fix it. Got the coil out, which is lots of fun built into an enclosed trailer. Going to throw some ends on it and see if I can better locate the leak.

Luckily I have a back up machine.

If anyone has any advice for the welder, let me know. First time having a leak in my coil.

Cheers,

Andrew

Equipment Thoughts on Harbor Freight QD fittings

I am a homeowner with a 2700psi Generac washer and I wanted to add a ball valve and swivel. I got the DN 10 valve and swivel but I need to get some fittings to connect everything up. Does anyone have experience with the HF quick connect fittings and if so do you recommend or if not what is a better alternative? Again, not a pro just for use occasionally around the house.

Business Questions GPM vs hot water.

Thumbnail

Throughout my years of PW I ve always heard online that GPM was king. But then I see all these hot water units that only put out 3 or 4 GPM. Also the fact that anyone I talk to locally (sellers or operators) even use 4 GPM cold water. Why is there such discrepancy on this topic? I’m looking at this hot water unit, and it looks appealing till I heard it’s only 3 GPM but 5000psi

Troubleshooting Newbie help

Decided today was the day I would try and clean this area along with a patio. To no vail have I made any progress on this. Have a predator 3200, have tried home armour outdoor cleaner and mean green multi purpose (harbor fright) - even tried a 15, 25 degree and a surface cleaner. Any tips to getting this back to concrete color? Or at this point just stain and seal it? The previous owner poured this piece about 4 years ago.

Equipment Giantz 240V pump?

Hi Guys,
considering changing from a 12 V pump to the giantz 240 V pump I’ve heard that it manages to last longer than 12 V pump and it’s under a third of the price. If anyone is using them or has used one before I’d love your opinion on it! Thanks!
How is the reach and flow compared to the 12 V pumps?
What’s the flow like through the gun? The website says 200L/min max which is way too high but I’m sure it goes down when put through a hose and nozzle.
How long do you get out of them if you flush after use?
What size preportioner are you using on it? I’ve got a 3/4” and hoping I won’t have to upgrade for it.
Is there anything else to know about these pumps?

Equipment Let's rate setups?!

Thought it would be fun to see some other setups and review!

I'll start-

My setup is pretty jank. Please rate and don't worry about offending me, haha.

P washer: Troy bilt 2227cwb,

- got at a yard sale for free

- runs decent ish, needs a strap to hold throttle open or it dies

- leaks oil

- so fucking loud

- custom storage

- wouldn't be sad if it threw a rod

- 3/8" high pressure line with quick connects

- garden hose quick connect too (cobbled)

- DAPC gun made in Italy with Ryobi flow regulator

Just rigged this holding setup for washing my winter beater's wheels. It's a motorcycle tire stand that spins, worked great.

Very dirty.
How much per sq foot? It’s one story but very wide, almost no slope.
Not sure why I can’t post a picture on this.

Troubleshooting Help identifying hairy paint?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes
Here’s what still lingers after x5 applications/washes

Has anyone encounter a hairy paint like this before? It’s literally strands. I’ve been using Trigger Man Grafitti Remover, which has worked just dandy for the “normal” paint on the wall, but this stuff is bizarre. It’s finally started to fray, and I’ve been able to slowly take off layers of it, but I don’t know what on earth it is. I did test patches of Zep Purple Degreaser and Ecolab Citrus Degreaser, but those didn‘t make a difference.

Extra pics to show how the red and blue paint have come off (mostly) fine:

Technical Questions Rebuild 3DX29GSI or pickup 4DNX27GSI?

Hey guys, I have my excell 2800 psi power washer with my gx200. The pump is starting to act up after running it hard.

I spoke to CAT and I'm fairly sold on rebuilding the existing pump now being, it sounds like it's a bad check valve, I'm also going to replace the pressure adjustment stack, and add a pressure gauge on the middle pump port.

The tech explained that the pump puts out 2.9gpm and the pump is rated at 2,500psi, but Excell says it's rated at 2,800 psi. Cat said that the pump psi pressure is more about nozzle size then the angle of the tip.

I'm currently running an 18" DeWalt Surface cleaner with smaller nozzles that's the only major attachment I have.

The major reason why I'm split is the power washer is older, but I was thinking that maybe the 4DNX27GSI would give me a better balance being it's a true 3,000psi but at 2.7gpm. I think the main thing that I'm trying to figure out is is the older 3dx pump putting out 2800 PSI at 2.9 gallon per minute. Is it worth it to switch it out for a pump that's 3,000 PSI at 2.7 gallon per minute. And like I said, the only thing I have is the surface cleaner that seems to be the major appliance I use and I know with those water flow is more important than pressure.

What do you guys think?

Quote Help New construction clean up

Thumbnail

This is my first new construction cleanup job that I need to quote, and I’d appreciate some advice from guys who have experience with these.
The job includes:

1,000 sq ft metal-sided building that needs washed
Concrete splatter on some of the metal siding

2,600 sq ft of concrete flatwork

600 linear feet of curbs

5,000–7,000 sq ft of asphalt drive-through that needs rinsed after paving

Water is available on-site. The contractor wants everything itemized separately on the quote.
What would you guys charge for each service? I’m in Indiana if that helps.

Also, what’s the best way to safely remove concrete splatter from painted metal siding? Any tips for cleaning new construction concrete

Before/After Pics First Proper Job using my new pressure washer

I primarily do window cleaning, but i'm hoping someday to pay a lad to continue my round as I do gutter jobs and pressure washing.
Because of this, I bought a loncin g420 recently. I have had a little experience with the first lad who taught me how to do windows gutters and pressure washing. I do need to buy a surface cleaner and a lot getter lance, as the turbo lance I got thrown in isn't the best, but it works.

I used a 3% hypo mix, followed by a 4.5% but there are still a lot of black algae spots.

This was just my parents patio, good place to test if anything was up with the pressure washer.

Equipment Ladder upgrade

Currently operating with a 16ft foldable ladder, and for the most part, I’ve been able to do plenty of jobs with that, but every once in a while, I’ve come across a house that I had to do gymnastics to get to the top gutter.

I’m in the market for a ladder, and I just want some help deciding if I could just get a 28ft ladder or would I just end up having to buy a 32ft or 40ft soon after.

What size ladders do you guys have?
