Why do they have Sweet Punchie in a cage stuck the corner with Orang Mama? The pic is from his back so we can't see how terrified our boy is. Looks like a photo op to me and that sucks!!!!🐒🐵😒🥺😲
He's not stuck in the cage. The back of the cage opens into the backdoor area. They use this for reintegration but also for returning macaques that were temporarily removed due to injury or illness, but they recently upened the back area up and some of the other monkeys roamed back into that area as well, including into the cage, but they were not locked in there. This is during construction, and none of the monkeys are even in the enclosure. This probably lets them come look at what's going on outside from the back area.
They literally uploaded another photo of him in there today, he's not "terrified".
The zoo also doesn't need to put him in a cage if they were wanting to do "photo ops" he is still very accustomed to being around humans. This is such a ridiculous comment to make.
It doesn't look like this zoo does any photo ops as such, they had a lot of fair opportunities for that, and they haven't exploited Punchs popularity. It looks like they may have moved the troops to the backside area to work on the mountain, and Punch, as he's familiar with the humans and also the cage system came to check it out.
