[DISCUSSION] Scalpers/ How much would you spend for a Pusheen?
I know obviously there are scalpers out there that mark up Pusheens such as pumpkin mochi for $400 or some of the cake pusheens for $125+, but I’m just wondering, does anyone actually pay these prices??? Because what’s the point of marking it up that high if no one is actually going to pay that?
Which brings me to my second question, what’s the most you would spend on a Pusheen? I personally feel like even the $50-$60 ITSugar exclusives, are expensive. It’s just more than $40ish for a plushie seems excessive to me. I’m ok with people asking $60 for an exclusive - as in I don’t think it’s totally unreasonable, but idk that I personally would pay that much.

I would spend 50 over retail value if I REALLY liked the product but nothing more than that.
If you're spending more than that you're just boosting the scalpers and giving them a reason to continue doing it.

the most ive ever paid for a resold pusheen plush is $45. it was a brand new BAM! exclusive pusheen playing the piano plush still in packaging, so i was able to justify it. i hate the insane markup of pusheen plushies lately and it really takes the fun out of collecting

Personally for me, I’ve only spent the og price or cheaper than the og price for Pusheens, I don’t think it’s worth it to spend over 100 dollars on a plush. But the only Pusheen that I don’t mind buying for over 100 would be the HUGEEE lifesize Pusheen plush. But definitely wouldn’t buy the smaller ones for 100+
My max is maybe 55 plush

as a collector whos been called a scalper often, theres definitely a market for certain pusheens (i.e. giraffe pusheen, seal pusheen, boosheen, accessories like costume set and scarf). People pay these premiums because Pusheen creates fomo when they stop producing certain plushies and or accessories, and then more people post about said hard to find items, making people want it. And when one person puts it up for a certain price, bonus points if it sells, everyone assumes thats the market price for it, and it sells quickly.
I was in a tough spot a couple months ago and put my bnwt pusheen scarf up for around 150 usd as a hail mary, and it sold within a day because of the fomo created for it.
I almost bought a loaf pusheen for 200 usd, but life got in the way and i couldn’t, however i have paid 150 for a giraffe pusheen. I’d say it’s a small demographic, but people definitely want rare pusheens and would pay premiums for it, but of course there would be other pusheen fans who are not interested in paying copious amounts of money for plushies, like yourself, which you can also totally understand from your point of view.

I also ended up paying $150 for my giraffe Pusheen but I considered that a win because right now everyone else selling wants $250 or more! I hate paying more than $100 for a plush but with how limited certain ones are it sucks so much. I have gotten a lot of deals by looking at local pick up on Facebook marketplace though! And I keep my notifications turned on for drops so I can get it before scalpers do too!

I don't pay scalpers' prices. I either get lucky and find good deals for the rarer ones or I just don't get them. I can't justify spending £100+ on a singular pusheen, even if it's a rare one it just doesn't feel worth it to me

Related: how much would it take to separate you from your rarest Pusheen? $300 is too low for me 😆

I don’t want to sell my pusheens I only have one of. I am a collector so you couldn’t pay me to get rid of mine.

I don’t have any super rare ones, but I have two Claire’s exclusives and one Macy’s. I would probably sell them for what it would take to get them back (so $50-$70), if I chose to sell. But, that also goes back to why are they that much online because my charging that is based on it would take that to get it back. So, I guess it’s kind of a circle.

Depends on the rarity and time. Pumpkin Pusheen is too new, retail value or maybe $10-$30 markup makes sense.
Big mochi Pusheen, super rare. A couple hundred in mint makes sense to me. I'd rather NOT pay that much but I would if it's the only way. But it's also why I check multiple sites.
I have a Deadpool statue cost $200. It's market value is over $1k now because a limited number were made. If I was looking for one I'd pay that but would again look for sellers on various platforms.

I never wanna spend that much but even collectors sell them for a lot and so I’ve spent 150+ on a few pusheens. The giant pusheen I own and the jumbo sitting floofsheen were my most expensive. But certain pusheens are extremely rare to find at a good deal. Especially when there are so many people always checking online for them.

if the item is rare/highly sought after the price is going to be high, personally i have paid it. most i paid on a exclusive maybe around 300ish. if its something i want then i save up and pay it. i get its not everyone would do it though.
the rare pregunds are in the thousands range.
i will try asking in the groups or other pusheen pals first though. i have also helped pusheen pals get rare pusheens at good prices.
the crazy part is if a collectors buy at a high price and try to resell they get branded a “resellers” 🤨 like we paid so much for that 🥲
sometimes collectors resell purely out of necessity like bills, health, emergency etc
the best option is to buy when an item is released so you get the cheapest price 🥹
i missed out on an exclusive pusheen drop an had to pay 6 times the retail price and it only kept increasing on online platforms.
pusheen is getting more popular across the world so i assume it will always be that way

i will spend $60 max for a singular pusheen. if it’s a bundle i’ll pay $150 max but it depends how good the bundle is tbh

eh, if I miss it then I miss it. as much as I love the artist pusheen label plush, I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on it. I missed it because of an error on the website, so it does sting, but what's gone is gone

I think it massively depends on the pusheen. I would spend over £100 for some of the truly rare ones. Im also massively impatient 🤣 so I do obviously want to pay the cheapest price so will wait a little bit but not willing to wait for ages.
But there is no way in hell im paying £450 for a pusheen, its pure greed the people putting them on for that much and im not feeding in to it.
But I can make peace with genuine higher prices for rare pusheens as thats just the collecting game.

unfortunately yes people do pay these prices, which is why the scalping has just gotten worse and worse over time
but as for me, no i've never once overpayed for a pusheen! i just patiently wait for good deals to come up on vinted. ive got about 80 pusheens now and i've been buying them since last year on vinted (i did have a few from 2017/2020 though), i think i calculated my collection is worth ~£800 and i've spent ~£350 on buying them.

I think my highest is I've paid $120 for the OG hey chickadee pumpkin plushie but only because I've always wanted it and it used to be like $400. I missed out on the artist one too but I'm not paying the current price

I spent $70-$80 each on a full set of IT'SUGAR food costume Pusheens. Got French fry, burger and taco. That's probably my current limit

I spent 150$ on floofsheen which was 170$ with shipping and someone just sold me their large breadsheen the big roll, I offered 175$ and paid 190$ for shipping which was too much. I should have offered less I was traveling at the time and wasn’t thinking but it was a genuine collector and not a scalper so I didn’t mind, I could tell because the tag was bent a bit it had been loved and had the money so it was all good. 😌 I would never payover 45$ for something that was just released for 45$ like pumpkinmochi thats dumb. I got it for 45$ though and don’t really think it is that cool but only half of it is cute the other half is creepy. I would not pay more than 200$ for a pusheen and only pay over 100 for ones I like a lot for my collection. The ufo one with the minis I paid 110$ after losing an offer for ones on mercari for 90$ I paid 110$ to buy on eBay cause I really wanted it.

I would never spend over 100 on a pusheen. Simple as that.
