So I am tired of kratom. I really want to be free of this prison kratom had created inside of my head
•
u/Agitated_Implement66 Nov 26 '25
Started measuring yesterday, very difficult being accountable for each dose, my mind is actually fighting the measuring. 13gm per dose yesterday, I did one 15.6 gm dose because I was feeling sick ( coming off of an opia binge from the weekend, I usually only do powder and binge on 7-oh every couple of weeks). Today I woke up and measured my dose 12gm. I am going to decrease each day by a gram. I am seeking gabapentin, one time I was in mexico and ran out of kratom, they have OTC gabapentin there, it got me back home withdrawal free. I do not want to tell my husband, he knows I use kratom but I haven't been honest about the addictive hold it has on me. I have been on it 10 years, I met my husband 8 years ago. He has never known me without kratom. I am going to come out to my sister, she works with community health care, I am hoping she can get me some help for prescription gabapentin and clonodine to help cushion the taper and jump. I do not want to be labled an addict on my medical record, so that is why I am avoiding my PCP. My story is long and sad, I do not want to tell it today. I need freedom from this, I feel so stupid. My life is good now, I have no reason to numb myself the way I am. I dose 4x/day, yesterdy 5x. This group really helps.

Day 50 - it was ok. Last night I pulled the trigger on applying for Wellbutrin through hims after reading it helping others. Also a good friend of mine is on it. So I will be trying that soon to help get me through this. Not sure if I’ll stay on it long term or not.

Day 5. I’ve quit a few times before and this time has been unusual. Usually I’m in the clear by this time but yesterday was brutal. Maybe because I had to open at work? All of the body temperature dysphoria hit me at once.
In the past, going to work actually helped a lot. Kept me busy. This time it felt like the worst decision I could’ve made and I’m thankful to have gotten this day off. I do feel better, but man, I remember this being a bit easier. I remember getting to Day 5-6 and thinking “That’s it?!” But that’s not happening this time around. Perhaps God decided he already sent me out a life raft once and now I’m on my own.
•
u/Scully_40 Oct 05 '25
It's normal for withdrawal to be worse each time you quit. It's called "kindling"... at least that's what they call it with regard to alcohol withdrawal.
•
u/Scully_40 Oct 05 '25
Just realized how old this post is. I hope you're doing well!!!

Still haven’t stopped but hoping to. I daily use for the past 5 years. I’ve mixed with a ton of other stuff and have had acute renal failure. Never thought it would lead me here. I can even tell you what my daily dose is as I took what I can when I can. My wife knows but we don’t talk about it, I feel I can taking years off my live with this stuff as I am 43 and feel like I’m in my 60s. Just hoping to be around for my 7 year old as much as I can.

day 43!!
not at 100% but my motivation and executive function are mostly back. there is lingering emotional flatness but the fullness of life is seeping back in... im sure i will get a paws crash here and there but it is very cool to be square!!
happy july quitters!! thank you to the mods for resurrecting the daily check in too
•
u/Fit_Policy3041 Aug 24 '25
I’m on day 7 and cannot even tell u how much hope I just found in your “executive function returned” comment 🙏🙏🙏…. That’s prob the biggest factor that brought me to quit. Kratom has made me incredibly lazy & I cannot stand it anymore. About when would u say you began noticing a shift there? How about appetite / weight loss?
•
u/Such_Young_3740 6/6/23, 5/24/25, 3/27/26 Aug 27 '25
hey, just seeing this. i would say i could start feeling it return about a month after my quit date.
i tapered at a medium pace. during my taper and my first 2-3 weeks i was just really exhausted and definitely LESS motivated with LESS executive function than before...
then my willpower came back fairly early, before my mental clarity or my general mood did. even now when im tired from paws sometimes i still have my executive function. same shit happened my first quit
i managed to get in a kind of an anchor habit even during those first tired weeks.... i would walk to this giant park i live near every day, sometimes at night after work... eventually i would jog a little then more and more; it wasnt much but doing SOMETHING helped...
i had no appetite or weight loss effects. if anything in my spot it made losing a few pounds easier since im more mindful and not just eating whatever, you may be different.
if this helps... this was my metaphor... i thought of myself as some dude who just got out of the hospital from some terrible car crash. i did basic life shit (shower, work) becuse i had to and did healthy things (walk to park) to get small wins, like real real basic physical therapy
you just got through a mental car crash and you will get through it and will recover. use this exhausted time to set good habits
after all, why did you quit? because you wanted to build a good life for the long term. you can, and you will, start today
•
u/Remarkable_Tour_3081 Aug 03 '25
emotional flatness is a good way to put it. And I have also noticed some memory issues through these first 9 days of CT. (Like forgetting basic names of my son's friends.) Figure it comes with the territory.

u/DNM66 April 15th, 2025 Jul 18 '25
Love to read it!! I actually feel like the emotional flatness you describe is a much bigger challenge for me than any withdrawals I experienced in the first couple days. Filling that boredom with something meaningful, you know? Have you learned any new skills to fight the emotional flatness? Would love to know if the last 13 days since the comment have given you any new perspective.
I am about 3 months in, and while I am almost certain I will never go back to kratom (I haven’t have any cravings since maybe day 9), I’m more just bored and expecting more from having released myself from the addiction. I bet I’m not putting in enough effort to replace the addiction with other things..

Day 38. Insanely painful week 1 CT followed by a gentle weeks 2-3. Then out of the left field it blindsided me. The past 2 weeks were mentally exhausting and anguishing. I developed a Whoopi g cough which became habitual to the point I couldn’t breathe. Coughed up flem and left me feeling with flu like symptoms. FYI, I am a smoker and believe K relieved and masked my cardio issues. With K out of the picture, I believe my body is now expelling the toxins.
Insomnia and RLS left me tired and sleep deprived. My bowels stopped functioning. I haven’t been regular since I stopped. Realized my diet could be the reason for many of the problems. Decided to go to Costco and get Romain lettuce, chopped salads, tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, etc.
2 days eating lots of fruits veggies and salads, I finally pooped. Also slept better.
If you’re not pooping or sleeping, maybe change the diet.

26 days off kratom extract powder which also contained some 7oh in it. Didn't know the 7oh was in there until after I quit. Had to pull out a magnifying glass and look at the fine print. Said may contain 7-oh. Wondering why I got hooked so fast. Used to just do Bali leaf powder and didn't use everyday. Then they sent me a sample of extract and I was hooked. Still a little shaky but I started taking Naltrexone a couple days ago and it says that it may cause some anxiety and insomnia. Think I might stop for a couple weeks and then try it again. Anyone else experience this?

Day 26 of CT from 20 mg powder habit. Physical withdrawal symptoms are gone, and I'm making progress with the psychological and emotional ones. Leaning into connection helps, as does expressing gratitude to myself (and here) that I am off the stuff. Interestingly, went to a AA meeting for the first time in years (been sober from that ) and the speaker spoke briefly about a kratom addiction as part of her addiction and recovery journey. I imagine it is coming up more and more as folks realize it is not a safe and innocent "supplement." I feel a lot of peace when I imagine that I've hung up the green sludge jersey for good; I'm not bathed in shame about my stint in that league--just glad I've retired from it! Found a glass jar in an old bag that I used to mix up the sludge the other day; I lifted it up and looked at it with some feeling of distance from the habit (only 26 days though) and also relief that I didn't need to carry these around. Calmly placed it in the recycling bin...

Day 5. 5 hrs sleep. Mild RLS, a good amount of sneezing. Feel notably stronger than days 2-3. Overall feeling pretty good. Feels strange to not be tied to dosing. I have weird triggers where I have time alone of bathroom breaks and a fleeting thought that it’s time to dose, mostly no cravings though. Going strong!

About six months with no Kratom. I’ll be honest, it’s been tough. Kratom allowed me to avoid a lot of my mental health issues and personal life issues. Being sober from Kratom and realizing this is in itself its own form of withdrawal. It’s like living through the anxiety in the acutes all over again.
Part of me wishes that my state would just ban it, so I’d never have a reason to go back on it again. I know that’s the wrong call though, because I do believe it CAN be used by those with other more severe addictions to try to find more of a baseline. I just know that, at the same time, it being so readily available to me is a real daily challenge in abstinence.
I have a trip to a place where kratom is highly illegal coming up in two months, so for now at least I have that to keep me honest. I just need to have a game plan for when I’m back, as I will have no reason to abstain aside from mental wellbeing when I get back. I believe that that can be enough, but I worry about that addict side of my brain, you know?

u/4ofSpadez Aug 26 '25
Down to my last 3 7OH tablets (25mg each tablet)! I have been tapering down since the ‘emergency ban’ almost 2 weeks ago. The day of the ban I was at about 40mgpd. As of yesterday I was at a single 25mg tablet broken into 8 pieces to keep my WD under control. So, today as of now (6:11pm), I have taken about 3 pieces of a tablet and 3g of leaf kratom powder (also my last dose)! I’m not doing so great with the WD’s. It’s been quite rough, but I’m powering through as best I can between doses. I went and bought 2 boxes of generic Imodium tablets, grapefruit juice, Robitussin gel capsules and vitamin C powder mix to help ease some of the WD symptoms between my doses as I taper down. I just took 1 piece of the tablet. My last dose was 11:00am, so I’m extending the doses more and more. I just hope this passes, AND FAST!! It’s taking a toll on my psyche as well, like I just don’t want to be here anymore! Anyone else??

Day 11. Better than yesterday. Got a workout, sauna, cold plunge in. Gonna go to an AA meeting tonight, since that’s my real problem why I started Kratom. I just got a problem with drugs and alcohol period. I need to be sober. I was for 8 years and it was awesome in AA. I got comfortable though and took it for granted. It’s not been easy finding my way back but I have hopes this time feels different

Day 2 of tapering. Not exactly sure how much I was taking, been pretty inconsistent over the past couple months because I’ve been telling myself I was going to quit for a while. Was taking 1-2 extracts and maybe a couple grams of powder on the highest days.
I have a good job and young kids, so I just don’t want to spend 3-4 days completely in the shit. I took 4g yesterday and it wasn’t bad at all. I feel shitty from about 10-1, where I take 2g, then 2g more at about 5 so I can eat dinner and sleep somewhat okay. I wrote out a schedule, not exactly sure which day I’ll jump off completely, but no later than 9/31. My anniversary is 10/16 and I’d like to be test-ably clean, as in all the shit out of my system by then. Last time it took like 10-13 days, but that was CT.
I also plan on lurking here daily to keep the reminders going. It helped me quit last time. Not going to be foolish enough to fall into this trap again, too much to lose with it, and too much to gain without it. Getting caught by my wife and discovered as a liar and addict has hurt my self esteem a lot.
Best of luck to everyone.

Day 62 off 7 oh 42 off Kratom capsules I feel better. No sweats or rls. I had a dr appointment and had blood work done. I lost 15 pounds since April. (The detox diet worked… I had no appetite. The only silver lining, cause I needed to lose .) I told my dr but He had never heard of the 7oh etc, just kratom. I was surprised he didn’t know but I enlightened him. Haha. My liver enzymes were slightly higher but Dr was not concerned. The rest of my labs were good. The withdrawal was so horrific. I’ll never forget.

2 years, 1.5 months. Haven't posted in a long time. Glad I am off it. I've been having some temptations recently though because life sucks right now. But I'm not going to use kratom. It's more like, "that's interesting that it's still having an effect on me." I don't know if my brain is somehow permanently different due to this stuff.
•
u/Remarkable_Tour_3081 Aug 10 '25
Day 16 CT. Physical withdrawal symptoms gone. Still get wracked with the blues/existential dread but in general feeling fairly hopeful and just try to turn to connection/hobby/service when I feel that emptiness. Saw a photo of me from a few months ago where my nose was so red; I blamed everything else for that except the green sludge, but from this group I now see that face redness often came with use. Seeing that photo makes me feel grateful I am off the stuff....Which helps keep me on the steady, and posting here!

u/VengaVenga Sep 19 '25
Random observation, has anybody noticed a difference in the… potency of farts when coming off or completely off kratom? I feel like kratom somehow blunts fart smells unless I eat like a real jackoff at Taco Bell or something.
•
u/DNM66 April 15th, 2025 Jul 18 '25
I have not counted because I felt discouraged after failing my first attempt to quit and did not make a daily log anymore the second (thus far successful) attempt. That said, I should be at about a little over 3 months now.
One thing that really sucks for me right now is I haven’t felt like I could really celebrate my quitting process, because I haven’t felt kept my kratom dependency from most people in my life. Aside from that, I have also been quitting smoking which has felt like a more serious dependency over the past year and therefore my struggles to stay off cigarettes is clowning my pride with the kratom topic.
Notable differences though are:
I wake up significantly better.
My diet has improved dramatically without even really having to try.
I don’t feel a ton healthier but I know that I’m exercising a bit more and I perform better in my matches (football) than I did while smoking and taking kratom. Just less effort to keep up the energy over the course of an hour.
I’ve gone on some trips that I know would have been terrifying for me before my quitting, as I get a lot of anxiety from scheduled activities and trips that require some level of planning and responsibility. Now it’s becoming a bit more natural again.
Another problem is I’ve started playing video games which I didn’t do for the last 8-10 years, and I was pretty addicted to them growing up. I’m afraid that I am slowly rotating into a different addiction and will be no better off. And yes, I absolutely think a gaming addiction can be as bad if not worse for me as the time commitment would drastically impact my dreams and aspirations.
I’m not looking for advice necessarily, these are all things I think about all the time, but I just wanted to dump my emotions on this community to vent a little. I’m doing well and am proud of where I’m at, but I hope I’ll be able to cope with the transition out of substance abuse and replace it with other, healthy hobbies.
•
u/rolannyan Aug 12 '25
Any advice on how to curb or suffice the feeling of “I usually feel different, what do I do right now?” I can’t shake the feeling of that routine I had when taking kratom and/or FF. It’s almost like my brain is “bored”. Anything would help. Thanks
•
u/Vast-Purple338 10/5/2025 Oct 08 '25
I just keep as busy as possible, random chores, I go for lots of really long walks, lots of ́music and podcasts. Anything to stimulate the brain and distract you.
Im early in heavy withdrawals and dont feel good enough to really exercise yet but soon I'm gonna start running which is always a huge help.
•
u/rolannyan Oct 08 '25
Well I’m 2days shy of 2 months CT. It was hard but made it through. Thanks for the support from everyone. I’ve been stretching and trying to exercise (but I’m being lazy). It all has helped though, and just staying busy with work.
•
u/tellthefkntruth Aug 12 '25
Just do anything out of the norm. It may feel weird, uncomfortable or silly but who cares. Crank the music you like and get up and move to it. I put on positive affirmations when I’m about to fall asleep. If you can hit the alpha, beta, theta pattern they get instilled into your subconscious.

I am about a month into a taper. I was happy that I made the choice with the help of my psychiatrist. I got the flu in April this year and then had a week of severe anxiety. I never had it that bad. So, it’s possible that it was because I didn’t want kratom and had a lot less. I’m not sure but I went back on meds for anxiety after stopping those for 4 months, after a taper. I also have been putting off a colonoscopy because I’m hooked on daily kratom use for 7 years or so. I’m glad I finally admitted that I’ve been hiding it from most people. I am currently at 13GPD. It seems hard to go below this so I’m hoping my body will adjust. I am a single mom with an ex who is homeless so I can’t afford to go cold turkey and deal with the anxiety and less sleep. Seeing other moms on here helps me a lot! Thank you and best of luck. Oh, I saw the website kratomquitters.com and went to an online meeting last week! I’m glad someone shared that here. Ofcourse I could go to more meetings… lol

Day 11. Just tired. Feel pretty good, but I have to get used to my “natural energy level”. Have to get used to a limited toolkit of caffeine for an energy boost (though not feeling the boost really). Have to get used to figuring out how to focus naturally. Lots to start getting used to again.

Just an fyi. I read that Kratom is actually in the coffee family so maybe a small amount of green tea to drink instead of a high caffeine drink. Plus Kratom can cause inflammation in the body and green tea is a great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Look into food grade diatomaceous earth. It’s a binder and can help with the detox. I’m walking in your shoes right now. I’m on day 9 and I feel like everything is a chore to do. I did a drastic taper and tomorrow is CT. my biggest obstacle is work. I can’t miss work as I’m self employed in an industry where I can’t take off. Luckily I only work 2 days a week for 3-4 hours but I hate for people to see me this way.

112 days since 7 oh 92 from powder capsules.I took powdered caps 1-4 a day for years. Never more than that, until I discovered 7 oh tabs. 2 months of that poison. Bobby jr spoke about it to the press. I tapered with the capsules. It was such a horrible experience that I thought I was gonna die. No joke. I’m certain I’m older than you guys! I was so bad I gulped down 4 powder caps chugged water. Then I puked it all up. Green sludge. That memory is enough to make me never want to be in that situation

Day 26. Noticeably happier in the last 5-7 days. Days 1-20 I had a lot of close calls with relapse but around day 20 I feel like my brain has forgotten exactly what kratom feels like, and that was huge for my recovery.
•
•
u/VengaVenga Sep 18 '25
Day 3 of tapering. Lowering from 4 gpd to 3.5. I didn’t have a good grasp on where my daily intake was before, but starting at 4 was enough to induce mild WD symptoms. I sleep, but wake up early and I’m wide awake. I have anxiety in the morning, and bad BM’s started this morning. It’s manageable, so I think I’m going to push a little and lower it.
Random aside, but I’m coming to the end of a cutting diet phase, and of course kratom always makes me hold on to food longer and slows my weight loss. So one benefit of this taper is that my weight is where it should be, minus the extra 4-5 pounds of garbage lingering in my stomach at any given time. Really looking forward to getting some extra testosterone once my system normalizes and I start eating more and lifting heavier.
Plan right now is to drop .5 grams every 3rd day, not sure when I’ll jump completely, maybe a week. I really don’t want to rush it and have a setback. This needs to work, so it will.
Going to pick up some vit c today cause why not?

Hi, I’m on day 12 of a taper. I originally took 10 capsules 4x per day. Down to 3 every 6 hours. Still experiencing painful physical withdrawal symptoms as well as emotional. These happen close to dose time. Leg pain, increased neuropathy, and emotional distress. When my dose kicks in I am still feeling euphoric. For these reasons I am going to quit ct tomorrow. How long can I expect the acute withdrawal symptoms to last?

I am trying to continue my taper. I have dropped to taking this shit 3 times a day. I take 9 00 size capsules 3 times a day. So about 14 grams is what I am reading that is amounts to. I am trying to push and need some motivation to keep taking capsules away. My hardest times are at night. I have no insurance and can’t see a doctor for help. Any advice helps and I can not stop work or school

Day 3 CT. Fuck fuck fuck. I keep telling myself there's only two things I need to do: exist, and don't do kratom. This is so hard.

Need advice, I was tapering 7Oh for a few months and finally jumped 6 days ago. I’m still taking leaf Kratom to help with withdrawal but I still feel like crap, mostly anxiety and nausea. I actually feel worse than I did 3 days ago? Am I missing something? Should I feel better? I’m also on Quit kit supplements

Checking in again. Day 22. I have had a headache since day 1. It’s different than a normal headache. It’s my brain telling me I need Kratom. I don’t want it, but IT does. I WILL prevail, brain!

u/SecretSample5291 Jul 27 '25
Day 13. Literally on 10,11 felt like the symptoms drained from the top of my head all the way down to my lower back and legs. But I prevail. I swear around day 12 when you see how much of a hold and impact that crap has on you is enough to never ever visit another head/smoke shop again! It really does get better!!! Stay vigilant and strong time to get our lives back one day at a time. ⛓️💥

7 days ago I had my last K dose. I've used some other stuff to get to this point. Don't feel great, a lot going on in life, but I'm gonna keep going.

48 hours for me. Pretty horrible anxiety and restless leg yesterday. A smidge less this morning. 8-year user. Always powder. Heaping tbs scoop every 2-3 hours for years and years. Switched to capsules to try and taper for past 2 months. This is my 3rd and last time quitting. period.
•
u/Firm-Credit9555 Jul 27 '25
Day 5. Feeling allot better. Mainly what is lingering is general fatigue and restless leg while trying to go to sleep. But it was more manageable last night. I think the 2 month taper to capsules prior to quitting really helped.

Day one one the wein from 7OH and Kratom Powder. Im so fucking over this shit I just want to go cold turkey and make myself suffer through the withdrawls... maybe if i didn't need to work to support my family. But mostly because I want this to be permanent and successful, so wein it is. weining of 7oh first and fairly quick over the next few days, then the powder over a little less than a month using a protocol i found on here. Any tips or advice is very welcome. I appreciate all of you.

Day 1. Last dose was about 11am yesterday. Sleep was BRUTAL last night. Feel like I got hit by a truck today and all I can think about is how badly I want one of those damn seltzers. 😩

Day 49 - still in PAWS - depressed. Unmotivated. Everyday is a struggle. Ready to give up.
•
u/Mafia154 Aug 22 '25
Day 0. Started the wein down today, leaf and 7-oh. FIgured I would get off 7-oh first, a quick wein with the 15 tabs I have left, then on to the leaf. I lied to my amazing wife and kids about this shit, and was buying it behind their backs. Im done, and if I thought I could do it cold turkey and be successful I would. I am glad I found you guys.

u/Striking-Musician-38 Dec 24 '25
My boy- I know how you feel. I am on day 4/5 right now. Days 2-3 cold turkey are HELL... but...
Look into some taper charts here. Challenge yourself on time between doses and how much you take.
Eventually, you're gonna wanna get out of this withdrawal, and the worst parts are three AGONIZING DAYS... and then it gets better FAST.
When you are ready to rip the bandaid, come here for help and encouragement. We ALL want you to win.
Take LOTS of iron, vitamin C and "restful legs" from Walmart. Do NOT use benadryl or nyquil.
You HAVE GOT THIS SHIT.
•
u/AutoModerator Dec 24 '25
Warning: It's best to avoid using antihistamines (diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate, hydroxyzine etc.) such as those found in Benadryl, Dramamine, NyQuil, Unisom, and Tylenol PM. While they can produce drowsiness under normal conditions, they are well known for exacerbating Restless Leg Syndrome, which will make your insomnia worse, not better

How are you doing brother? I'm on day nothing yet. I'm trying to taper down as well but my business keeps stressing me out. So I'm that guy who goes and buys one feel trapped bottle every 3 hours at 711. I buy one and say that's it till I get off work but I go back and get another one. I also have a huge supply of 7oh so I pop those all the time. I don't want to put my poor amazing family through this anymore. I can't get my son braces because of this stupid habit. What a piece of turd huh. I've been trying to go down for a month now but all is really doing is not letting my habit progress, that's it, because I'm not using less, I'm just not using more.

Day 8. A week and a day. What a fuckin difference (pardon my language) a week makes. This time last week, I was scared, anxious and going through acute withdrawal. Today I feel like I could conquer the world! Could be a pink cloud, don't know if 2 months brings that kind of mental anguish, but I never felt THIS good on the shit. Love you all!

Coming up on 24 hours without the gummies and I'm finding it unbearable. I lay down to sleep and it feels like something is on my chest and my throat closes. I've been trying to sleep for hours and nothing works. I've taken ashwaghanda, passion flower, and clonidine, but I'm still struggling. I think I'm going to try to get gabapentin through an online prescriber. This is the most insane thing I've ever dealt with and I've done illegal drugs before so I have experience with withdrawal. I have some 7 oh and I've only been messing with that stuff for a couple of weeks and it doesn't have its hooks in me completely yet. Those synthetic Mitragynine extract gummies have got me fully addicted. Been taking them for a little over a year. The struggle is real with this stuff. Question for anybody reading this: any suggestions for a prescription drug that targets the anxiety because it's really overwhelming me. Thanks for reading and any suggestions appreciated.

Day 9 of no 7oh. Still on the sludge but my 500mg a day 7 habit was still a bitch to kick. I did not expect to have withdrawals but I felt like utter dogshit on days 2 and 3, like covered in sweat periodically for no reason, so sad and lonely I openly sobbed for like an hour and a half. Took multiple big doses of powder to make it mostly go away. This is the longest I've gone without any extracts in probably 2.5 years. Now I just gotta get a handle on this powder habit, it's been 15 years of heavy daily use, I quit for up to 30 days a couple times but I've never made it through PAWS.

Day 6 no 7oh. Have had some rough days and even rougher nights. My 7oh habit was very much shorter and less mg than most everyone on here, so I'm not going to act like I've done something amazing. This drug is poison and I am so proud of everyone here that is either off it or trying to come off it, whether it is leaf kratom, mit extracts or 7oh. We all got this. We are strong, we are mighty! We will be clean!

Day 3 Kratom free! Jumped on Wednesday from a slow taper. So far feeling fine, no symptoms. Doing the liposomal vitamin c protocol, must be helping! Just started taper maybe 10 days ago- was going slow (1from 4 down to 8ish tsp/day over 8-9 days) but just pushed down to 4 tsp yesterday and definitely feeling the impacts at night. Debating whether to hold 4 or go to more of a 6 range for slower taper.
My question: How rapid was your taper- what did a slow taper look like for you and at what dose did you finally jump off all together? Congrats on day 3!
•
u/Secret-Clerk-1161 Nov 12 '25
I was taking 40-60 gpd, used for 5 years. And tapered in about 7 or 8 weeks, can’t remember for sure. I started off slow, then the last few weeks went down a gram or two every couple of days. I was so worried about withdrawals but as I kept getting lower I never had any symptoms. I didn’t really follow a set schedule, I just kept taking less and less and never took more. Went by how I was feeling, and fortunately I never felt bad so it was easy to take less and less. When I jumped I was taking about 3 gpd. Never felt better, it was so worth it and I’m incredibly happy to be off of it. I would just listen to your body and do what feels right. Go as slow as you need to but whatever you do don’t take more. Any progress is good no matter how much. I’m 56 days kratom free now. Good luck to you on your journey, keep going. You won’t regret it!
•
u/Ok-Assistant-172 Nov 12 '25
Good perspective and it makes sense to just follow your body.
Was amazing to me that I had no issues from 12 down to 8... but then some substantial stuff when going from 8-4 (one day, yesterday)
Given that's only been over 2 weeks, probably going to stick with 4 or a bit higher (but not back to the 8 I was doing day before yesterday) Just got a 1/2 tsp, with the intent of taking 1/2 instead of full doses but doing them more frequently (as the taper guide mentions)
Thank you!
•
u/Secret-Clerk-1161 Nov 12 '25
That sounds like a great plan! That’s what I also did, took smaller doses through the day and I think that helped me stay stable so I didn’t have any ups or downs. I also did the liposomal vitamin c protocol, that could’ve helped! Do some research on it, it’s interesting. You’re on your way, you’ll be there before you know it!! Excited for you!!

I really wish I would have never discovered kratom. I started taking about 8 months ago. The 120 mg hula hai drinks and feel free. Feel free got up to ten bottles a day not sure of the gpd equivalent. Hula hai 4 each day. Anyways that was enough to tell me I had become dependent. Currently on day 3 CT with helper meds. Heightened anxiety, can't sleep mostly because I remember how tough it was to kick another substance. I am in recovery with 12 step help. That's what's helped. I believe I will make it through this and hope others are finding answers on here as well. Would love to know if I'm underestimating the CT. Seems like I didn't get to a high dose for a long period or time compared to others that have shared. But I'd like to know if I'm wrong.

Day 2 feeling hopeful and crappy at the same time. I am done being a slave and liar to Kratom! 5 years of first feeling like I had found a miracle drug to actually realizing it is a death sentence. Tried suicide once and lately considering it again. I realize I have a lot to live for and refuse to give up. God has sent me a wake-up call.

u/Far_Opportunity_6156 07-13-26 Aug 07 '25
Man I’m in the same boat. Kratom was my miracle cure to life for like 2 years. I felt like Bradley cooper in limitless, everything was just “easier” when I had my Kratom fix. But I became dependent and it’s gotten so bad to where I’m having those suicidal thoughts too. I’m on day 4 rn and I feel like shit physically. But emotionally, I am feeling very resilient. God has drown me back to him as well. I’m done chasing the world and fleeting pleasures. Let’s kick this shit together!

7OH, shots and pills. I was a 20 gpd user for 20 years. 7 days clean for me after a 6 month taper. I always got my caps from a known vender with good quality product and pretty reasonable prices. I never got anything from a head shop. I have seen so many people trying to get off the shots or 7oh, so out of curiosity, I visited a head shop to see this stuff with my own eyes. I couldn't believe how many varieties of this shit you can buy. Extra strength was 35.00 for 4 pills. They had several methods of consumption. I ended up telling the store owner some of the stories I have seen on this sub. In his mind, he said that it couldn't be that bad if it is legal. He really did not seem to know the damage this stuff can cause. He even seemed to look guilty. He stood there looking at the package of pills as I was walking out. I know there are a lot of parasites who don't seem to care how many lives they contribute in destroying, but this guy really seemed like he had NO idea what he was selling. I even shared with him my current journey about getting off powder and how hard it was. He was surprised about that too. He believed that all 7oh products and Kratom were extremely helpful in getting people off opiates.

Day 7 CT. Nausea has finally subsided. Still hot flash in evenings; Liposomol vitamin C and wellbutrin have been helping. Have also taken low doses of Gabanpentin a few nights to help calm and sleep, but I plan on stopping that today, just to not create another problem!

Day 13 of a taper which I've been doing with little-no guidance, but could use some now.
Context: Was 12-14 tsp daily, only respite from 6 PM to 6 AM. Within a week I was down to 8 tsp with little/no side effects. Hedged lower to 7 and yesterday decided to really limit it (4)
Observations: No issues 14-7, but definite issues (sleep, RLS) when I went down to 4 yesterday. Interestingly, the issues were NOT during the day but rather in the evening (when I'd normally not be dosing anyways)
The other interesting takeaway- when I DID take it yesterday, I didn't feel I needed it. I was taking it only b/c I wanted to avoid an overtaper "crash"
Matter of fact, I felt that Kratom energy boost after taking it and didn't like it the feeling. It would have been easy-ish to keep it to 2 tsp yesterday (during the day) but man, that night was a bit rough!
Edit: just spacing for clarity. Also- looking up resources here. Deciding when a doc may make sense. Wanting to push the taper more but cognizant the symptoms were real last night.
•
u/Own_Ad7225 Sep 16 '25
Day 1 of tapering off 20gpd. It's going good so far, I haven't had any crazy withdrawals yet, but it feels good to not to so groggy all day. I understand I need to be gentle and patient with myself for this to work. I need it to work, or my next option is probably treatment. Very thankful for this group.
•
u/SluttyStepDaddy Jul 08 '25
Dropped my dose (as planned) last night down to 5.5g (one dose a day before bed). Taking my taper incredibly slow (two weeks in-between 1g drops) as RLS + insomnia are my only symptoms that really bother me… give me as much anxiety and depression/anhedonia as you want, I’ll be fine. Just don’t fuck with my sleep (too much). 😂

Currently 120 hours in cold turkey quitting 7oh. I was using roughly 200-250mg a day. Most of the worst withdrawal symptoms were gone after day 3. Days 4-5 have been a mental challenge. Lack of sleep, muscle fatigue, and PAWS setting in is no fun, but all part of the process to getting sober.
If anyone is struggling with quitting, or in the infant stages of your withdrawal, please utilize these threads. They have helped me tremendously seeing all of the success stories.

I will have therapy in like 6 weeks and wanted to use this time to taper off.
problem has come to be, that my parents who live in the apartment below mine, saw my kratom supply i had left and confiscated it (im 30 btw)
now after some talk they basically force me to quit CT bc they think tapering off never works.
im feeling like shit and already ordered new kratom.
Im aware psychologically im not able to let go with CT and just relapse probably. tapering off to lessen the symptoms seems to be only way for me to let go.
another thing is on the tapering issue, my parents said that it shouldnt take longer than a week or 2 bc thats how they do it in clinics.
whats your opinions on this?
I was planning to go down from 15g per day to around 8g and then daily reduce more and more as long as withdrawal symptoms seem manageable, then quit at around 2g completely

I’ve felt like full body arthritis type symptoms every time I quit and sometimes it’s lasted longer than the rest of acutes so it could be that. Feels like sand in my joints and sore everywhere. I also totally know the overuse injuries while on working out on kratom. I blew a disc in my neck doing heavy shrugs in April. Whoops.
Hang in there.

Officially off 7-OH for 2 Weeks. Thank you Jesus and Reddit community. Amazing how far away two weeks can look when you decide to quit and then how quickly you actually arrive. Still minor cravings here and there. Brain fog a real thing. Had 2 things on my schedule this morning that I completely forgot about. That's shitty and hope it improves along with the intermittent Paws. Feeling so much better currently than I did after a 30mg dose. Couldn't sleep the last few months on the crap and after 4-5 days I started sleeping again. Slept a full 8 last night. Still tired but oh well. Will continue to stack wins!
