I post almost exclusively on Sikh subreddits like r/sikhcorner and the one I am requesting. Despite my rather low karma count, I have been praised by several users for my posts and comments which many of them find highly informative.
r/sikhiism, although quite controversial for its heterodox content, served as a valuable resource for all kinds of different Sikh viewpoints. I myself remember frequently disagreeing with the former moderator, who was later suspended in January this year. Afterwards, it was taken over by another user who requested the subreddit, was granted it automatically, and then locked it down completely, before eventually privating it sometime in May or June. Why that occurred is completely unknown to me.
My plans for this subreddit are to unprivate it and make it accessible again to all users. It was always a subreddit where any Sikh view could be expressed (within reason), so that part does not need to be changed.

The last moderator I knew for this subreddit turned off chat altogether, so I had to use mod mail to reach out. No response since August 11.
We would like to confirm that r/Sikhiism is not abandoned. Our moderation team is already in the process of cleaning up, reorganizing, and preparing to reboot the community. This includes reviewing the subreddit’s existing content, rules, moderation structure, and plans for reopening it in a way that allows productive discussion while remaining properly moderated.
Before the recent RedditRequest was submitted, we had already begun working behind the scenes on rebuilding the moderation team and preparing the subreddit for reopening. We have been training and bringing on additional moderators, as well as working on AutoModerator code, moderation bots, and other tools that will help us manage the community properly once it is public again.
This process takes time, which is why the subreddit has remained private while we get everything in place. Since then, we have also added several additional moderators and now have enough moderator coverage for the community.
Our intention is to reopen r/Sikhiism once the moderation structure, rules, and automated systems are properly set up, rather than reopening it before we are ready to manage it effectively.
At this time, we do not wish to transfer the subreddit or add any additional moderators. We intend to continue maintaining and developing r/Sikhiism and appreciate your consideration.
Thank you for finally reaching out and voicing your concerns. However, your response only opens up way more questions regarding the state of the subreddit:
Why is your reply labelled as AI-generated with high confidence on GPTZero and ZeroGPT?
If r/sikhiism is indeed in the process of being cleaned up for a reboot, why has there been absolutely zero visible indication of any progress towards that, ever since you claimed it for yourself?
Why was there very little activity on r/sikhiism between the time you took it over and the time you privated it?
What exactly was on r/sikhiism that required over 6 months of clean-up and reorganization before a reboot was possible? I can think of a few threads and comment sections over the years that were made in bad faith, but dealing with those would not take too long at all, certainly nowhere close to 6 months and counting.
Why was the subreddit completely locked down (prohibiting any new posts) as soon as you claimed it, with no announcement as to why? Furthermore: why was it privated around 4 months later?
Why is it only now, and not on August 11, that you have responded to this request? Do you ignore the subreddit's mod mail altogether?
Prior to the request I linked above, you had three previous failed requests. All four took place within a 30-minute span; one was auto-rejected for lacking 2FA and another was auto-rejected for not following the required posting format. What was your motivation for rushing to request this subreddit so quickly, considering the lack of visible changes afterwards besides being locked down?
Appreciate you for taking the time to elaborate further.
Edit (it appears the poster I am replying to has tried to avoid pinging me):
The new edits to your post directly evade many of my questions in some fashion, and instead make vague and novel unsubstantiated claims of adding new moderators and configuring the auto-moderator bot prior to the request. This only raises yet more questions, on top of the ones I had already:
Why is it that not one of these new moderators has reached out to me until now to explain what is happening with the subreddit? (Neither through modmail, nor one-on-one - not until this request was made.) Right now, all responses are coming from the very same user who auto-claimed the subreddit back in mid-February.
What does the new moderation team of r/sikhiism look like? Is it composed of former longtime users who have used the subreddit as intended, or are the moderators lifted entirely from a subreddit like r/Sikh (where you frequently post) whose users are generally vehemently hostile to heterodox subs like r/sikhiism? Given the original purpose of r/sikhiism, this distinction is quite important.
If your goal was to introduce more moderators, why was r/sikhiism not only largely inactive and locked down between the time you claimed it and the time you privated it, but known to not have had any new moderators during that time, nor any public announcements relating to any mod team changes/additions?
