š£ DISCUSSION Who would eventually become the next ones to be honored through Excellence & Influence categories.
In the last few years or decades, we seen artists who were previously nominated or not being inducted through the non voting method meaning they got in through two categories: Musical Excellence & Musical (Early) Influence.
With the recent sidedoor inclusion of such performers as Kraftwerk, MC5, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Jimmy Buffett etc, it's no denying that the trend will continue long as possible.
Now said, here's a list of acts who would end up being contenders in these two categories.
Influence:
Patsy Cline
John Coltrane
Dick Dale
Devo
Duke Ellington
Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Motorhead
New York Dolls
Siouxsie & The Banshees
Sonic Youth
Thin Lizzy
Chuck Willis
Excellence:
Bad Brains
Ronnie James Dio
Eric B. & Rakim
The J.B's
Rory Gallagher
Jane's Addiction
King Crimson
The Meters
Sinead O'Connor
John Prine
The Replacements
Neil Sedaka
Conway Twitty
War
That's all I got for now. Who do you think would be the acts in those categories in the future?

Two recent inductions have broken the glass for others.
Joy Division-New Order (Devo, Sonic Youth, Janeās Addiction, The Replacements).
Iron Maiden (Motorhead and Thin Lizzy). This was helped in part by the ballot not really having run-of-the-mill classic rock candidates like they did in the past (such as Bad Company) which kind of forced a lot of such voters to pick Maiden. However, Maiden did absolutely amazing and finished at least Top 3. The betting odds on Kalshi for Maiden/Wu-Tang Clan/Phil Collins were all high BEFORE the ballot deadline with a big influx of money for the first two which reeked of insider trading for people close to those bandās networks (whereas Collins is just simple logic). We also saw the Hallās website add Blaze Bayley to Maidenās lineup well before the ballot deadline which means the band had already been tipped off about the induction.
We then had an insider trader who on the day the ballots were due started running up (or down) the names that got in (or didnāt get in). Which means there was no clarity yet on the other five inductees (JD-NO, Sade, Billy Idol, Luther Vandross, Oasis) until that day.
So if a metal band like Maiden did THAT well (finishing in the Top 3), thereās no reason some of their popular/classic rock adjacent names wonāt get in with ease soon. Kind of funny that Judas Priest was sidedoored when they would have likely got in with considerable ease a few years down the road.
So all of those names I just listed are now electable for 2027 and beyond. I think the ballot getting generally weaker year to year as about 9 āPerformersā are either elected or side-doored (Zevon, Parsons, Latifah, etc) means far more names become āelectableā pretty quick. Sinead OāConnor, for example, will have had like forty names (or more) get in since she was on the ballot last and has precedents in her favor (Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Sade, Cyndi Lauper).
