Just bitching college women and misogyny
it makes me really sad to see what seems to be an uptick in misogynistic social media content about "asu sorority girls" or treating women in college generally as sex objects. it just feels like we're going backwards in terms of feminism generally with how widely circulated these are.
women can be conventionally attractive and go out partying with their friends for the sake of having a good time. and even if they are doing it for the sake of hooking up with people, who gives a shit??? is that not part of life??? just kind of disgusts me that there are so many people who see videos of barely legal girls doing a coordinated dance or smth and jump immediately to publicly fantasizing about how many men have had sex with them.
inspired by a reel where a guy's first response to arch mannning leading texas's comeback was to spew fanfiction abt the "blondes of texas" waiting in his dorm room to the people of instagram.

Young and especially attractive women are the most envied, lusted after and hated its fucking weird. It’s actually a relief to get older.

u/pochemu444 Sep 14 '26
people want to act like women are a monolith sooo bad of course there’s always going to be shitty women who do cheat but plenty of women attend these schools and get amazing grades and still make the time to party and are loyal and if they hook up while single who the fuck cares? the same guys who call them slurs are also the ones talking about the “male loneliness crisis” bc these girls wouldn’t touch them
they project want they want these women to be for them while criticizing that behavior when it does appear

I have nothing to add bc I’m kinda drunk rn but yeah shit pisses me off bad. leave the damn kids alone

Do you think they realize how 🚬 it is to see a beautiful woman and imagine other men having sex with her instead of themselves? Not that it makes it any better but I’ve always thought this type of misogyny was a symptom of pornbrain or class/womb envy. Women are outperforming men academically and with homeownership and can have no strings attached sex too and I think some men’s worst fear is that women are becoming exactly like them in all the ways that used to give them the advantage over us. The hierarchy is being disrupted and they hate it bc it’s all they had.

u/deathcabforqanon Sep 14 '26 edited Sep 14 '26
I mean, the outperformance grievances are mostly the issue I think. College used to be rigorous and vital when it was mostly boys and now that it's mostly girls it's a useless slut factory. White collar work was prestigious and difficult when men did it but now it's just government babysitting jobs.
Otherwise this level of vitriol makes no sense. A mom posts a "here's how we decorated our daughter's dorm!" video is met with 500 "hope youb LOVE that she's gonna get SPIT ROASTED by 500 guys by CHRISTMAS" messages. Like wtf world are you living in?

it's absolutely insane that people think comments about random TEENAGERS getting gangbanged are normal/justified to post. like these guys should be getting their hard drives checked.
19
u/deathcabforqanon Sep 14 '26
Just two or three top hashtags on their favorite site will take them to this worldview forever, #teen (the most popular though pornhub always lies and says it's something else), #coed, #rough. And then once they're there, reward them with something worse and worse every time.
The sad thing is this isn't a "check his hard drive" deal because this is extremely, extremely common. Nothing to see here. So that's their reality and these are the comments
The cool thing is that this is starting at fourteen or maybe eleven!

this makes me think about the misogynist vitriol that gets thrown at women (especially attractive ones) who travel the world, always getting accused of only being able to travel because they’re a sugar baby or escort or whatever, because that’s what porn/instagram-brained men see from their favorite sex workers online. I’ve seen men even say that women only travel to have sex with foreign men lol men partake in exploitative sex tourism so of course they think women are doing that too

u/deathcabforqanon Sep 14 '26
There seems to be a genuine and sincere disbelief among this set that a woman might have actual money of her own, from a job of her own. I see this in truly every twitter post where a woman shows any kind of accomplishment. "Here's my new house!" Yeah that you got in the divorce. "Here's a cake I made!" And your husband paid for the ingredients.
It's like they're frozen in 1985, and at the same time Pornhub, and there's no way out.

u/PhilosopherOld3986 wholesome chungus cuddle time o’clock Sep 14 '26
I always get so confused when I see that. Occasionally I'll get fed those videos where a woman is upset at her husband for not chipping in more around the home and the comment section is full of men saying things like, 'it's normal for a man to want to relax at the home HE PAYS FOR after WORKING all day!" Around 66% of households in the US are duel income. Anecdotally, the only single income households I know are 'can afford a housekeeper' wealthy. What sort of community do these people live in where, in 2026, jumping to the conclusion that the women who are annoyed with their husbands for not doing more housework are full time homemakers is at all reasonable?
1
u/deathcabforqanon Sep 14 '26
Exactly! The women posting those "could you please put your socks in the hamper" videos most certainly work, almost all of us do!

u/NEWbababoobie Sep 14 '26
I only see that when they go to dubai, which I can't blame them for assuming that.
3
u/Pizzv Sep 14 '26
I used to only see those comments for Dubai but then I started seeing them for popular locations like Italy, France, Japan, the Caribbean, Mexico lol

it is truly so pornbrained. i generally dislike blaming things solely on porn b/c i think it can get puritanical but this really feels like a case where these guys have become truly incapable of viewing women as anything other than sex objects. it's like they can't fathom that women might want to go to college for the same reasons as them.

i took a sociology class about hookup culture last semester and it consisted of a professor sneering at anything that wasn’t super feminist support women’s wrongs thinking. like if you didn’t want to hookup you were defective or subject to the patriarchy blabla. this narrative is coming from institutions and they’ll treat you like a far righter for disagreeing.
82
u/Agreeable-Dog-1131 Sep 14 '26
This shit is so maddening. The one-way logic where you’re either wholeheartedly, unconditionally on board with the cause (unbridled sex positivity, in this case) or you’re a puritanical conservative, and there cannot possibly be any other reason. I’m very much a feminist, and one could argue that this narrative that hookup culture is empowering and if you’re not into it then you’re just brainwashed etc benefits men far more than women by pressuring them to be sexually available.
God, why do people have to be so weird about how much sex women have or aren’t having? We really can’t win either way.

u/Outside-Drag2742 Sep 14 '26 edited Sep 14 '26
It’s like the movie Viva (one of my favs) it’s a critique of the sexual revolution for this very reason, women were made widely sexually available and vulnerable. the men benefited without having to actually address misogyny. It’s the illusion of empowerment

u/Southern_Parsley302 Sep 14 '26 edited Sep 14 '26
this logic is so prevalent on college campuses 😔 pushing back or being the devils advocate against hard topics like hookup culture, sex work, globalism, etc will guarantee people talking behind your back. i’m a senior and in my four years, i’ve only had one professor who was really interested in bringing up opposing dialogue; discussing my home country (poland) and the positives of their actions.
we NEED discourse and it’s not normal to be 100% blindly for something. idk i blame tiktok

See, that sounds absolutely naive to me, having grown up in the '90s when HIV and AIDs were still mostly death sentences. Heck, I had to take a random HIV test around 30 because I'd had a ton of blood transfusions in the NICU in the late '80s. (Apparently, HIV can be dormant for a long time in rare cases, but I was lucky and had a negative result for it.)
Just out of interest, how old was your professor/adjunct/TA who taught the class? This seems like a Boomer or older Gen-Z approach to casual sex. I just have a hard time seeing Xers and millennials saying that stuff!
And honestly, hookup culture just isn't the same for girls women of any age as it is for boys and men. It's disingenuous to suggest that it is! Women run a higher biological risk of exposure to STIs/STDs, and of course higher risks of being drugged, sexually assaulted, and/or killed. Sexual strangulation is also increasing in popularity among younger people and it's scary stuff just to read about! A teenage girl in Sydney, Australia died just the other week from sexual strangulation in what was (allegedly) a consensual act with her boyfriend.

You didn’t even mention pregnancy when it comes to women, especially with the way reproductive rights are being dismantled and the dangers that come with it (homicide used to be one of the leading causes of death for pregnant women and now I think it’s 4th).
2
u/CarlySimonSays Sep 15 '26
Oh man, thanks; I meant to add pregnancy! Ack. I need to stop posting so early into the morning lol.
With the way our reproductive rights are being destroyed, I'll probably never move out of New York state. It's totally fine, but I resent feeling like this. Even hypothetical vacations and business trips to certain states sound really dumb (e.g. Texas)!

Millennial in a polyamorous relationship 🤣

u/CarlySimonSays Sep 15 '26
Eeee!
Also, TMI from a professor, personally! I didn't even like hearing rumors about professors' affairs or whatever. As long as a professor wasn't one of those who tried to sleep with students, I didn't want to know, haha.
I was in a small undergrad and a smallish department in grad school. I had to look these people in the eye!

u/ParisHilton42069 Sep 14 '26
I think there’s this thing that came out of the sexual revolution and the way it was twisted by men for their own purposes where like. The feminist thing to do is have sex exactly like a man, do it purely for the physical gratification with no emotional connections or strings attached. And it drives me crazy because I don’t think that’s the way most women want to have sex? Even most people, maybe?? Seems to me that it’d be better for women if we could get to some point where idk, everyone views the people they have sex with as actual humans with thoughts and feelings whom they should treat with respect rather than just women also viewing men as sex objects. But what do I know
10
u/hanananannanananan Sep 14 '26
Luckily it seems like some critical arguments against blind sex positivity are gaining traction in the academia, for instance the right to sex by Amia Srinivasan

u/Fluid-Two-1222 Sep 14 '26
“Feminism” that plays right into men’s hands
17
u/Southern_Parsley302 Sep 14 '26
feminism has gone full circle in so many ways lol. i keep my mouth shut bc I don’t wanna get eaten alive
35
u/acabtothemoon Sep 14 '26
i have no social media other than reddit but yeah EW i am not surprised but i am disappointed. men can sleep around and slut themselves out 1000x over and no one says a thing, but god forbid women WANT to get laid!!!
14
u/Organic-Trip2118 Sep 14 '26
idk if it's just my algorithm or smth but i feel like i've been seeing more of this lately and as a current college student it just makes me sad. sometimes it's other women saying this too which is like 10x worse.

14
u/Technical-Divide-431 Sep 14 '26
I always wonder, if they want all women to be prudish, WHO are they supposed to fuck then? Men? Or are there designated “sluts” and everyone has sex with the same few women?
9
u/ppepperwood Sep 14 '26
It would never be the latter because they’d use that horrific key and lock fallacy to say that it’s gross to sleep with a woman who a lot of other man have had access to
8
u/OpinionNaive5745 Sep 14 '26
A lot of men are happy to have sex with "sluts" while still viewing them as worthless
101
u/Specialist-Dog6269 Sep 14 '26
It is due to an overall push to discourage women from attaining a higher education and financial independence.
52
u/Pizzv Sep 14 '26
honestly true. Sometimes I will peruse the comment sections on problematic IG reels and soooo many men will say “why would a woman go to college when she can start a family” and they’re being 100% serious. Like they literally cannot fathom a woman doing anything else beyond getting married and having a child
24
u/souredcream Sep 14 '26
telling on themselves and their lack of motivation/ desire to just use people tbh
26
u/Organic-Trip2118 Sep 14 '26
feminism has been set back so far in like the past 5 years shit's insane
44
u/Deep-Average-4209 Sep 14 '26
My schizo theory is that the powers that be are encouraging single income families so that men will be desperate enough to join the military whenever whatever wars they are planning for come into fruition.

u/someweirdoonthemoonn Sep 14 '26
i’m a girl in uni and it really really bothers me. i feel incredibly judged for just trying to further my education. i chose my school because i got over $20,000 in scholarships, not due to sexual motivations. i’m trying to become a lawyer, to help those around me, and i’m sick of people twisting it. it’s insulting

u/DuragChamp420 Sep 14 '26
You just got some fucked up friends or social circle, I think, unless you literally go to ASU or Bama (and even then)
3
u/someweirdoonthemoonn Sep 15 '26
i literally go to a mid tier uni known for agriculture of all things. and yet people still make comments behind my back
21
u/tony_simprano Sep 14 '26
The internet is filled with men that will never, ever be desired sexually by a woman and unfortunately it's just going to get worse as the internet regresses towards the mean (the average man on Earth being a Third Worlder with a 9th grade education)

u/hGr33n Sep 14 '26
There's a campaign to divide the sexes and it's getting worse cause now more than ever the ruling class cannot afford to have the working class unify and fight for themselves and each other..

u/popcornmaxhine Sep 14 '26
Men are constantly complaining that young men aren’t having sex and it’s a problem but they also don’t want women to have sex, so you gotta wonder what exactly they want. Gay sex orgies?

Its all unrealized opportunity. Nobody hated the "typical" college experience in 2005. Its an issue now, because it feels so far away, and so many things are happening now. Its a pay your way third space, and everyone cant attend. If you want to meet friends, get your job, meet lots of different girls, strike out on your own, college is the only way possible for many. On top of winning the lottery of being upwardly mobile (uppr class) doing lots of heavy lifting for guys with no discernible personality or talent.
Mens college attendance is obviously down post covid, so it must suck to watch unworthy guys hang out with hot girls you'll never meet. Young men are in no place to be fed a steady diet of cute rush girls on tiktok. Feeling behind seems to be one of the things guys struggle with far more. There's a cure for not getting married or having children (female friends) but there's no good cure for not having access to women. Particularly attractive blondd twenty something coming of age sorts.

i thought we were complaining about how college students AREN'T FUCKING and now people are mad they're dressing sexy??? they're just kids they show be screwing each other who cares what adults think about college kids these days, they aren't in college
and the ones who are interviewing them aren't even attending the college or just incel influencers, targeting people coming out of bars, they are kids who just learned to drink and annoying and sloppy of course they make great content
let the kids, men and women, they and thems be whores it's the last 4 years of their lives they are around the same age group my god
and hookup culture shouldn't be something everyone agrees on as a whole in society, it should be one's personal decision. there are men out there who prefer romantic relationships than casual hookups but because their friends make it into a game they feel pressured, men or women. it's really a personal choice if they want to participate or not

i wish i could have the power to be college aged in the early late 90s-early 2000s and then also be one now and truly compare bc from what I've read even though obviously people are being fucking crazy right now I do have a belief that we are still better than where we were
214
u/Exciting-Fish680 Sep 14 '26
Imo a lot of it is perpetuated by genuinely stupid people. on instagram there will be posts from teenage girls announcing the college they're attending that go viral for whatever reason and the replies are like filled to the brim with people making gross nonsensical comments about all of the sex OP is about to have!! and implying that her hypothetical boyfriend is going to be so devastated!!! and the comments have 10 gazillion likes
its misogyny sure but on top of that it is unashamedly and unbelievably vapid monkey babble.. i have nothing but contempt for them Just disrespecting the world with their idiocy
