Suggestion Strike while the iron is hot! Improve the new player experience, release seasonal Fresh Start Worlds, new Hiscores for new accounts, and discuss what veteran players would want in a Prestige Mode
One criticism I've seen about Reignited is that some aspects of it were good while some were bad. Why not take the good and expand on them? Jagex has an opportunity to appeal to all players, old and new, with this:
Fix the new player experience.
Eliminate the clunky Burthorpe system.
Standardize the tutorial so that everyone does Tutorial Island (no Davendale, sorry), and expand that if needed.
Fix combat for new players so it doesn't feel so much like waiting for abilities other than auto attack to come out of cooldown by unlocking core rotation abilities sooner.
A lot of players have spoken about the want to compete for "world firsts" and grow a new economy. Why not have this in Fresh Start Worlds?
Allow someone to create a new account that would start in a Fresh Start World. These worlds would be just like the main RS3, no bonuses or anything extra, just a new world and new economy.
Allow players to port their account to the main RS3 worlds at any time. For example, these worlds can start up every 6 months and last for a year or so (when the economy stabilizes essentially) then every account on those servers is transported to the main servers with everything they earned there.
This would allow new and existing players to have a new economy/world experience often without keeping communities permanently separated.
Create a new Hiscore system for all new accounts that do not use Radiant Stars.
All new accounts after a set date will be added to a brand new Hiscores system.
If Reignited was going to have no Radiant Stars, this should align with both player and Jagex expectations.
Allow players to Prestige to be a part of the new Hiscores
Develop a Prestige Mode with veteran players
Allow players to reset their progress from 1
All Prestige players would be added to the new Hiscores for their prestige experience
Lock away the earned bank until a certain point where it is deemed the player completed their prestige and can do it again (maxed? would need to be discussed)
Allow players to quit out this mode any time without penalty, but would have to start from scratch if prestiging again (can't just go back and forth)
Poll all of this from current players with discussion on what they want to see
Jagex, there is no better time than now. If new players are looking to join, or if old players are looking for the new experience, why not give that to them?
Note: I have no idea how to make numbers and bulletpoints work with Reddit's version of markdown so I decided to use ### and asterisk. Apologies for the bold.

I think this batch of iron was incinerated because Jagex didn't realise they had opened the furnace for casting tungsten instead of the one for bringing steel to its working temperature.

OP has no idea why reignited was tempting to new players

Enlighten me please. Maybe you're right, go ahead and explain.

I have tried to get people to play RS3 each time they say "I would not play RS3 because of Treasure Hunter. A Friend made a video where he bought max."
They removed Treasure Hunter, I asked them to come play.
"People still bought max, people still got ahead with dailies, people still got ahead with double experience. I do not want to play because of that."
It doesn't bother you, it bothers other people who have other choices in games that appeal to them and integrity appeals to them. Reignited was the only time I ever heard them interested in RS3 because it changed their concerns.

So then how does FSW not change this? Because people played before a certain way that doesn't exist now? That requires having that knowledge.
I never played FFXIV beyond some free trial for a couple of hours forever ago. I have no idea who bought what or abused what or if something happened there. I would be a brand new player if I played again, as I was prior.
People still bought max, people still got ahead with dailies, people still got ahead with double experience.
Fact is new players would not have this knowledge at all. There is no way your friends with zero knowledge of the game would even know what a daily is in RS3 or that it's gone now.

Fsw doesnt change it because in the players mind they are wasting their time as their game is temporary and they will get merged and then have the issues again mentioned above
1
u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 7h ago
The Reignited "feeling" would have been temporary as well. There is no way to get a permanently fresh economy without constant resets. It would have become the same economy as the live game with the same issues then would have had to merge down the line to prevent further issues.
FSW allows players to experience a new economy and new world firsts without causing the above issue of permanence despite the problems being similar both in main and new.

The 'feeling' of a fresh start world being fresh is only 1 part, the other is the feeling of integrity which can still be shattered under different scenarios. If botting takes over that will be the source of that broken integrity. If the economy merges with the current economy, the source of that feeling will be that the economy that they perceive to have no integrity is being merged with the new economy that does have it.
The desire for a fresh start doesn't mean people want a temporary game mode where they constantly start again, it means people want a permanent, controlled reset with all the improvements made, entirely disconnected in all ways from all the bad monetization decisions jagex made along the way.

They played as an Iron man because they thought playing an Iron man would fix these issues and then they saw the events and the dailies. They were not fans.
FSW, again, is going to have an account eventually end up with the same issue.
There is no compromise. They do not want to play in the economy that has been impacted by these features and you do not want to play in a new economy to have your progress reset. There is no changing your mind like there is no changing their mind because there is no coincidence of wants here.

u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 7h ago
If there is no compromise on their end but RS3's end is constant compromise, RS3 isn't being unreasonable. If they cannot accept seasonal FSW as a compromise among the myriad of the above changes suggested plus others I did not suggest, surely someone else will. None have been tried before and it's worth a shot.

u/sinisoul 7h ago
You are not getting it. Just leave it at that. There is no fixing this without resetting the economy in their eyes.

u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 7h ago
FSW would be a new economy that would eventually become just like the old economy since all the "issues" with the old economy are still there. Same with Reignited.
Once again: If there is no compromise on their end but RS3's end is constant compromise, RS3 isn't being unreasonable.

Are you trying to make yourself feel better by ignoring opinions about why people won’t play that are not subject to your own perspective? Do you think you're going to come down with some revelation and just change all their minds?

u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 17m ago
As I said before, if there is no compromise from someone who is a prospective player but there is plenty from RS3, then it's not RS3 that is being unreasonable.
change all their minds
No. Your friends can do whatever they want. I'm sure there are plenty of other people who would appreciate a seasonal FSW, new hiscores, etc I wrote above.

It’s not about the MTX integrity (OSRS player btw). I can jump on OSRS and spend a few hundred quid on bonds and be ahead.
It’s about so many things that just cannot be addressed so it’s pointless trying to revive this game.
Even reignited would have not been enough, people would have logged on tried EOC combat and ditched it - they can’t expect the people that left during EOC to come back whilst it’s still there.
I would have liked to see a 2012scape or something like that - a what if we didn’t change the combat system OR a Darkscape which is legecy combat only to drag PvP players back because they are the content creators with the most influence.

That iron has gone cold.

I remember seeing your name complain about toxic comments. Talk about a person not adding anything productive to the conversation. Your entire comment history is toxic.
3
u/Jerowi Reignited was right 7h ago
Telling players how they're coming off, intentionally or not, is not being toxic, it's being real, what you need right now is a mirror.
New players now see rs3 as a toxic place and that's no one's fault but our own.

Sure is and yes I did.
I also stand by that. Like that says you all are coming off as actively malicious.
As I said in another comment which I'm assuming you didn't read that one, while you may mean to be acting in the health of the game it does not come off like that to others. To others it just seems like whining and now that you got your way, gloating.
For the health of the game someone needs to tell you all how you look to others because you don't seem like you can see it. Think I'm a troll if you want but I also want to see the game thrive but the community reaction has been disgusting and your actions are harming the game way more than anything Jagex can do.

So then the only thing that mattered to you was Veteran players don't ever get to trade with Reignited players? New players don't care at all about that, most new players who would have played don't even know what that means.

u/Own_Salt_8055 8h ago
"most new players who would have played don't even know what that means."
Lol nope
-5
u/Jerowi Reignited was right 8h ago
No it's that you lost any new player interest with how the community has acted. The iron doesn't exist anymore.

u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 8h ago
You know, you should follow your own advice. I made this thread despite me disagreeing with Mod Anvil that the toxicity is equal on both sides as a way to show I really give a shit about new players and old players alike, and have throughout my threads and comments. If you are going to remain toxic, go ahead but please don't do it with me.

I... thats actually funny, they could've legit just made a new "class" of account now that you point it out. Still exists in rs3 worlds, still can interact and pvm with main accounts, but just can only trade with others of its own class and has their own highscores.
You get to allow the "tainted" accounts to still exist, add more players to interact with and have their own sense of progress, and theres no playerbase division bc theyre still on the same worlds. Basically an Ironman account but you can trade with any other Ironman.
2
u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 8h ago edited 8h ago
I think one of the issues with that is the "class warfare" (lol) that would have caused. I told Mod Ryan in a different thread why: you don't want to create two siblings who resent each other.
Maybe this works in other MMOs with competing factions, but I fear for the effect in RS3. The last thing you want is to separate economies permanently.
0
u/EmuCrow 8h ago
We literally already have that with Ironman accounts, this would just allow a larger portion to still interact and keep the game alive
2
u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 8h ago
It would split economies that would eventually become the same between 2 populations who cannot trade. That's the issue.
1
u/EmuCrow 7h ago
Who fucking cares about the economy its been shit for the last 12 years
0
u/Thus_RS IFB 8/2017 7h ago
So a new economy will somehow not just be the same thing? MTX only provided 5% of gold injected daily. 95% is still in the live game.
The economy was described as "shit" when party hats were 30mil. It's been "shit" for at least 20 years by people who have no idea why they say that.
-5
u/flamescowl 8h ago
Why not bring out reignited but shard them into the same worlds where veterans can still play with reignited players but not trade and keep the grand exchange seperate and different highscores
5
u/RS_I_am_u the Wikian 8h ago
That sounds exactly like how it was initially pitched to us which is exactly how we got into this predicament.
No split economy. No trade restrictions. No New highscores. No world's firsts.
All of the above creates FOMO and will simply attract existing players to make new accounts so they dont miss out on And we're good 👍

They should actually add paths to choose from, find it ridiculous that I've done a tutorial in burthorpe then my only options are archaeology tutorial mystery, and now bossing is the only option. The path systems been out for years why isn't this fleshed out? It would probably be better not to have it at all than have this, feels like they don't care when parts of the early game experience aren't even fleshed out in a 20 year old game
