Turns out changing the name was an incredibly bad idea

Idk I think it was important they signaled that the last remaining Liberals joined the NDP already, why confuse the public lmao.
Unlike the Saskparty and NDP, they clearly weren’t interested in participating in Sask media’s gaslight game.

Also weren't interested in participating in Saskatchewan politics as it turns out

Wait. The Saskatchewan wing of the Liberal Party rebranded and now has been deregistered?

They haven’t actually been affiliated with the Federal Liberals since 2009 apparently

Like the Alberta liberals not being affiliated with the national party didn’t really matter. Saskatchewan liberals haven’t been relevant since thatcher

Well that’s not true. Official opposition in 1995. Formed a coalition government in 1999

Also relevant that the Sask liberals allowed entryist conservatives to run for them in 95, then form the Saskparty just 2 years later

Aight I guess we just have the Green Party carrying the torch now

Well, I think the NDP is closer to the SPP than the Greens, no?

Nope. Spp’s older group of liberals maybe. But not whoever joined post-renaming. Comparing the 2024 platforms, it seemed like the greens/progs and (somehow) the PCs were all further left than the Sask NDP. No contest.

The Sask NDP are basically liberals, turns out no one needed two liberal parties

I kinda liked them initially but then I have no idea what happened once Jeff Walters left.

I don't know how to format quotes properly but this should show you what happened.
https://leaderpost.com/news/saskatchewan-news/sask-liberals-name-robert-rudachyk-as-interim-leader/
Rudachyk will be running in Saskatoon Westview. He lives on an acreage outside Saskatoon. He studied biology at the University of Saskatchewan and later worked in occupational health and safety, before becoming a cook and then a meat plant worker. He previously lived in Saskatoon Westview for 10 years.
He served on the Mayfair School Community Council and has been active within his faith community. Rudachyk is a follower of Asatru, which he describes as “the religion of the old Vikings.”
“I actually follow the old Nordic gods — that’s my faith,” he explained. “This is just who I am and what I am. It is my faith. It is my perspective. It’s my worldview.”
For Rudachyk, someone has to blaze the trails to encourage other other pagans to get involved in politics.
“I have to be the guy that puts his name forward, puts his heart on his sleeve and is ready to take all the attacks from the more intolerant people,” he said.
“So few of us have actually decided to take on leadership roles and run for office and bring our world views to the table to try to make the world a better place.”
He said the Asatru values of family, community and working together inform his consensus-based approach to governance. But he also prized the Viking readiness for battle.
“You didn’t give up a fight. You’re always going to fight right to the bitter end if you believe in your cause,” he said. “And that’s what I am doing … I am not going to give up. I am going to fight to the bitter end for the people of this province.”
