Tailor's chalk recommendations

Post image

I got this plaid flannel fabric second hand. All of my chalk pencils are either white, red, blue, purple or black. None work on this fabric color wise, but also all are too hard. I figure likely yellow or orange would work the best and something extra soft. Does anyone here have any recommendations for something you yourself have used in the past? US based.

Not in the US but I heavily prefer erasable pens over chalk. You don't have to drag them so hard like you would have to with chalk

I have both heat erasable and water erasable pens, but neither are visible on this fabric. I've looked at some in lighter colors, but the product pages only show them on light solid fabrics, so I'm very skeptical if they'd work with such a loud pattern.

When I had a similar issue I used tailors tacks for all my markings

Crayola washable marker. Not orange, tho. it takes two washes.
