💛Beginner💛 Adding backpockets?

Hi! I recently bought these pants online and they don't have any backpockets! Truly a disgrace. They fit supper well and it's hard to find pants in this color, but I absolutely need backpockets. How would I go about adding them? I know most backpockets are just a patch of the same fabric added to the back but the fabric is a soft velvet/velveteen which I think would be hard to find. Would it be possible to do like front pockets are, a thin pouch on the inside? Thanks for any help your able to provide :)

You can use a different fabric for the pockets. I would just try to find a cotton fabric (shirt weight) that was close in colour to the pants.

Try googling “extending jeans front pockets”. Most of that you can apply here. Or maybe welt pockets? That might work with the construction you already have. Good luck!!!

These are pretty much already set up to be welt pockets! They won't be quite as tidy as if seen from the start that way, but I think you would be able to add a pocket bag to that rectangle of fabric behind the pretend slit, and then cut an actual slit in that strip to access it.

so there is fake welts but no actual opening? yes you can add the pocket bags inside, it should not be the same fabric that would be too bulky, cotton or lining fabric will work.
