SharePoint Online HTML pages question

I know these are still in preview, but has anyone put them into production yet? I'm pretty comfortable with HTML, and AI obviously makes things even easier. My biggest concern is spending time building something really nice, putting it into production, and then having Microsoft decide to discontinue the feature or no longer support it. Anyone else have the same concern? Thoughts?

You can never really tell what MS is going to drop. HTML pages does seem tightly aligned with copilot though - they don't seem to be really that useful for anything else- that would suggest some level of longevity. I'd be more surprised if they got any further enhancements beyond what Copilot needs though.

Just the other day, pnp list forms stopped working. Wide outage. Nothing they do is reliable

You mean for the last 2 1/2 days this week when every form opened to a blank page? I remember that.

I would argue their lack of reliability is reliable. 🙃

Not touching any new stuff no matter how cool it sounds.

I'm not a beta tester, ain't nobody got time for that.

It's like Early Access video games, no thanks, let me know when it's done and ready and the price is stable and it's documented.

If it's brand new it automatically gets ignored. I still watch, I see Fabric Apps, Code Apps, HTML Pages all sounds great, but no thanks, I can wait.

I just wish they'd release a real admin panel for Microsoft Forms. Dealing with that in a huge organization is awful.

Word, need a few admin panel updates. I don’t even use Forms, I looked at and said eww gross, I pretty much only do PowerApps for internal forms. Unless it’s so simple normal sp form works with some json.

If it’s external/no login we use JotForm. It sends each response to shared email, process with power automate write to share point, sql or wherever I need it.

Hey u/DonJuanDoja - thank you for the mention and for using Jotform.

If you don't mind, is the main reason you went with Power Automate instead of Jotform's native SharePoint integration that you need to route submissions to different destinations? Some to SharePoint and others to your SQL database etc

I didn't even know that was a thing, I might use it. Unless it requires Enterprise JotForm which I would guess it does? We don't have that yet. Discussed it a few times, we might get it eventually. Thanks for mentioning it.

I'd probably use it for the List integrations, but looks like there's only Postgres for SQL and we're all in MS Azure SQL so that doesn't work for those.

But I'm also looking for ways to move away from the JotForm, again, we're all in MS PowerPlatform and paying for premium licenses, the only issue I really have is when I need no login anonymous data collection. For Forms I use JotForm, for files I use Egnyte. Same reasons. They let me collect data or files from anonymous users. If I can find a way to do that in powerplatform with say PowerPages or CodeApps, well then I'd probably move away from JotForm and even Egnyte. I know it's possible, it's just going to take a bunch of work and I already have working solutions.

The reason PowerPlatform is my primary choice is I can do just about anything I want, I can connect directly to all our ERP SQL Databases, SharePoint Lists, my custom SQL Databases, SharePoint libraries etc. It allows me to connect everything. There's simply nothing that compares. Only problem is most things require full MFA MS Login.

So it's that external anonymous data capture piece that vexes me. We have to do alot of that, we're in both Construction (contractors) and Logistics (3rd party) so there's a lot of need to collect both form data and images, files etc from the field.

That makes sense, thank you for explaining. Our integration covers the form data routing for lists and sending uploaded files/PDFs to document libraries but it wouldn't be able to cover the Azure SQL flows you have with Power Automate

All of our integrations are free to use for all users, by the way. If you ever decide to give it a try, we would love to hear your feedback or where else you would have liked to be able to send your data. Thanks

It’s MS version of QA. Ship it and let the payed consumers be our QA team.

You could add more HTML to customize SharePoint’s appearance (Classic) 10 years ago, then they removed that option when they came out with Modern.

Not sure why people would trust Microsoft to not do this again in another ten years when people get too used to their customized sites.

This really was awful to strip away. They did it to make us pay for and use powerapps

I've prob missed something but we want to disable them tenant wide for now can't find out what setting or PNP / powershell CMD line.  Seems to have to be set on each sites, site pages settings, content types.

Their FAQ specifies on the last question that there is no tenant level control, it's site level/site pages library switch only.
