Discussion New Simagic Aston Martin Valkyrie Steering Wheel

Post image

I just tried out the new Aston Martin Valkyrie Steering Wheel at the Simracing Expo in Frankfurt. Feels great for the price compared to other branded wheels.

What are your thoughts?

Am I the only one thinking meh for this wheel.

Felt the same, sadly. I also don’t know why so many wheels seem to have these soft paddle shifters including this one. I think the paddle shifters on the much cheaper GT Neo felt way better.

oh it's different?, i have the neo x hub and although it doesn't fit my desired feel, they are solid shifters

It’s hard to put into words. It’s not a bad wheel and the shifters are certainly fine. Maybe it was just that when I picked it up I wasn’t feeling the “wow” effect that I’d hoped for.

I felt like the silver buttons in the middle felt incredibly cheap

I can tell you that it also feels cheap when you take it in your hands.

I’m really not impressed.

Are there any rotaries/encoders? Looks like all of 12 mappable buttons by my guess. Has to be extremely cheap to justify.

Edit: the toggles are 5-way switches and the wheel is $800. Something like 20-21 mappable inputs excluding paddles.

If one of the major, long term players in the industry released this... they would be getting blasted... so curious to see how this plays out for Simagic.

Blasted for what?

Thrustmaster would get blasted for releasing it? 🤔

They should speciify that it's the road cars wheel when they say that. Not everyone is going to know that.

Felt super cheap. Same for the Zeus wheels.

I was really looking forward to the Zeus, but it all feels like a significant step backward in terms of quality. I don’t know—I definitely expected much more.
