Derry Girls is a Channel 4 production and set in Northern Island, it's British.

I didn't know that, thanks.

It‘s British-made (in terms of where the money came from) but it’s centered on Irish characters. This was discussed at length on the Irish subreddit a while back - https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/tz7fxw/idiotic_question_lads_but_would_you_consider/

FYI it's an awful lot more complicated than that with Derry, especially when the show was set. That background is part of what makes it such compelling TV.

In terms of pure sitcom comedy, Keeping up Appearances, Vicar of Dibly, Are You Being Served. Old school comedy, Dad's Army, Open All Hours. Darker Comedies Moving On, Damned. If you are looking for pure comedy beyond sitcom, game shows, especially Would I lie to you is hirarious.

Can’t leave out “Only Fools and Horses” for classics. Del Boy and Rodney are hilarious.

You can't beat the glow of Peckham Water. So many funny scenes, like the chandelier scene. Boycie and Trigger were great supporting characters.
So many classics to choose from, Last of the Summer Wine (except the first 2 years), George and Margaret, Fawlty Towers, One Foot in the Grave, As Time Goes By, Dinnerladies. Newer Classics like Benidorm. I also like quirky norrhern shows from Yorkshire Television like My Husband and Me and also That's My Boy, both with the great Mollie Sugden and recent sitcoms like Kate and Koji with Brenda Blethyn, which ended way too soon.

"Fresh Meat" is very good. Student house sharing and trying to fit it.
If you can find "Raised By Wolves", it's hilarious. There is another show with the same name, so look for the one starring Helen Monks as Germaine. Raised By Wolves
"The Green Wing" is off the wall funny.
"The Cafe"has lots of funny characters, in sometimes, heart breaking situations.
"Mum" stars Leslie Manville and she's great.

Motherland. Ghosts (uk version is so much better) Laid Extraordinary Sisters Detectorists.
There are a lot of really good ones. Those are the ones that just came to mind.

Spaced is probably the high water mark - it's very spirituality similar to Community but with a more British twist. Same people who did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Black Books and Father Ted were both written by the same person who made IT Crowd. He's an awful terf now so pirate them. Great writer though.
Green Wing is without exaggeration the single greatest (and weirdest) sitcom in a medical setting (yes, better than MASH and Scrubs).
Peep Show is one of the few British sitcoms that have a significant back catalogue, all of which is absolute gold.
You'd probably like Gavin and Stacey too - wasn't my jam personally but I can see why other people like it (similar to Seth lets Flats).

There's tons to choose from. If you're not fussed about era, and don't mind straying outside the mainstream, I'd suggest
*Yes minister/yes prime minister, Only fools and horses, One foot in the grave, Keeping up appearances, Waiting for God, Vicious, Phone shop, Absolutely fabulous , What we do in the dark, To the manor born, The Inbetweeners , Coupling, The thin blue line, The vicar of Dibley, Creature comforts,
And so many more. While you're at it, I'd also suggest films such as
Hot fuzz, Keeping mum, Johnny English, Son of rambow
