He’s fine. People are allowed to criticize modern SpongeBob. At least it’s not blind hatred using the deceased creator as a crutch.

Just like Modern SpongeBob, I think I’m not the target audience for his videos. The deadpan, energy vampire persona that kids these days mistake for being cool is so grating on the ears.

Maybe if I was like 13, I wouldn’t find his brand of content lame and his criticisms undercooked.

It's literally just talking like a normal person, lol

You again? Didn’t you post and deleted a comment to one of my replies already. I’m not doing this again. It’s been an hour. Let it go.

Not my fault you made multiple stupid comments saying the same garbage, lmao. Also that comment was half an hour ago before you answered me again. And my deleted comment was because i accidentally sent the reply by accident when i was in the middle of writing it.

Go to bed or do something else instead of lurking in this thread. AWE is a joke. Get over it. The discussion is over.

Why do people dislike him? I used to watch him

6

u/Gohansupe 5h ago

it's because he's really harsh with some of his opinions on some seasons and episodes of Spongebob past the first 3 seasons of the show

1

u/dogzrulez1 5h ago

I never thought of it that way and thanks

u/distastef_ll 6. the dollar 5h ago edited 3h ago

I used to watch him too and probably agree with him 88% of the time but he’s… so exhausting. That’s the only way I can describe his energy; Exhausting.

His deadpan monotone voice is very grating on the ears and makes all his videos blur into one. Doesn’t help that he spams the word “slop” in all his scripts.

0

u/GothMarcyWu 3h ago

I always felt like he's chill, not grating or exhausting.. I don't see any problem with the way he talks, this feels like you're just being judgey

1

u/distastef_ll 6. the dollar 3h ago

Maybe if I was 12, I’d find his performative “just got out of bed” nonchalant attitude and constant use of the word “slop” cool and interesting but just Modern SpongeBob, I’m clearly not the target audience of his videos.

1

u/GothMarcyWu 2h ago

children tend to like loud mouthy tubers more, so your comment makes no sense to me.

You're just judging him for being himself, it has nothing to do with being cool

1

u/dogzrulez1 2h ago

I like that he is openly honest and I forget that English isn’t his first English and he’s Austrian.

u/distastef_ll 6. the dollar 1h ago

I was thinking more preteen than child. I specifically said 12 years old because that’s the age where I became disillusioned with SpongeBob and started watching more “edgier”, well, edgier to a preteen content.

Whether it’s intentional or not, is beside the point. I probably agree with 88% of his opinions, but I I find people like him very exhausting. You might read his demeanor as chill while I find it exhausting, unpleasant. You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

He could be the sweetest guy ever offline, I don’t care. I find his brand of ‘analysis’ shallow and undercooked.

And no, I’m going to emotionally coddle you with ending my sentences with “in my opinion”. I am judging him. Now what?

1

u/GothMarcyWu 1h ago

You're overthinking it lol, you really getting conspiracy theories from nowhere lol. He's not even really "edgy", i literally talk the same way irl, so i guess you wouldn't like me either lol, there's many people like this naturally. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch him or whatever, but is it really necessary to say that online as if he's intentionally trying to act cool or something, lol, bit overreaction imo.

Also idc whether you use " in my opinion" as an excuse for your judgementality lol

I agree on some points of his and disagree on others. Like I wish he wasn’t as harsh on everything past the first movie, but he’s entitled to his opinions.

3

u/Gohansupe 5h ago

yeah if he wasn't so harsh despite his opinions people would him and his videos more

12

u/Electrical-Gate7652 6h ago

what about him?
He makes good and bad points and is hard to watch at times.

What, can I not have a neutral reaction to someone?

11

u/GothMarcyWu 6h ago

I don't agree with everything he says, but he makes alot of good points for the actual modern episodes.

-19

u/chumbbucketman101 Karen 6h ago

Said the SpongeBoomer.

13

u/GothMarcyWu 6h ago

Is that all you people say. You legit have no argument.

-9

u/chumbbucketman101 Karen 6h ago

Neither do you people, all you do is blindly hate anything post movie for no good reason.

What’s that? A season with a few bad episodes? Buddy every season has at least one bad episode, even your precious golden age of SpongeBob wasn’t as perfect as you claim it to be.

9

u/GothMarcyWu 6h ago edited 6h ago

I don't blindly hate anything post movie, lol, in fact, i also think post movie seasons are overhated. When i say actual modern episodes, i mean season 10, 11 and beyond, imo.

-4

u/chumbbucketman101 Karen 6h ago

Well the YouTuber your defending does, he hates everything post movie, and he especially hates it when people criticize Classic SpongeBob, take his video on that Birthday Episode, where he hates on a guy for rightfully criticizing one of the worst Classic SpongeBob episodes.

8

u/DarlingVirus Patrick Star, Musical Genius 5h ago

I find it amusing that you call party pooper pants ‘That Birthday Episode.’ There is no birthday in the episode, and it’s certainly not one of the worst classic episodes.

Your impression of what ‘hate’ is vs starting a dialogue is skewed.

6

u/GothMarcyWu 5h ago

I thought they were talking about birthday blowout

2

u/DarlingVirus Patrick Star, Musical Genius 5h ago

Not a classic episode. Big Birthday Blowout was aired in 2019. Here’s the video being referred to: https://youtu.be/kRzhRBJo1qc?is=4YT69-9OtUZVYCRE

3

u/GothMarcyWu 5h ago

Ik it's not a classic, I'm not dumb, i thought they meant that awes video about birthday blowout (or another birthday episode of later seasons) apparently had him complaining about someone criticizing a classic episode. [Cuz awe usually reviews modern episodes today]

Party Pooper Pants completely screws up SpongeBob’s character, turning him from a jolly enthusiast into an arrogant stickler.

3

u/DarlingVirus Patrick Star, Musical Genius 5h ago

I disagree. SpongeBob has always been a bit stubborn and it’s not out of character for him to be focused on the rules in classic seasons, and we see it often. For example, with how competitive he gets with Squidward when vying for employee of the month. Or when he shows off his Good Noodle stars he has in boating school, and how mad he gets at Patrick for breaking the rules.

SpongeBob gets so caught up in making the party perfect and by the book that he can’t see how his actions are actually making things boring. We see him misinterpreting the fun of the party as harmful chaos, even.

I don't think he blindly hates, as much of the videos of awe I've watched of his, he does actually watch the episodes he criticizes, and talks about most things in the episodes. Now i haven't watched much of his oldest videos so perhaps he could have been different back then? But he makes good videos in todays time for the past couple years. Also idk what you're talking about there.

the golden era isn't as perfect as you SpongeBoomers think.

3

u/deathnoot 5h ago

We can have differing opinions on the sponge. It’s literally fine. We’re all grown adults

5

u/mutepls 6h ago

i like when he explores the rooms in character’s houses & buildings but i don’t really care for the ai channel vids he make sometimes.

4

u/SatanERROR 6h ago

I enjoy his videos mostly.

2

u/ominous-cypher 4h ago

Who is this

2

u/Real_Louie Plankton's a Pikmin 4h ago

I agree with his opinions, but I don't care if someone likes or hates modern Bob.

4

u/DarlingVirus Patrick Star, Musical Genius 5h ago

Rule one about this sub is that no one who talks about hating Awe has actually watched an Awe video.

Really liked his recent upload on replicating the first seasons style. Great way to uplift creators doing some wonderful fan made SpongeBob work.

I think he spends too much time dumping on modern SpongeBob. Talk about what you like dawg!!

He also sounds freaking depressed.

I dislike him mostly because of his intonation, he sounds so bored and monotone it's very hard to keep listening especially with ADHD. I need someone talking more enthusiasticly. Sometimes I can make it through a whole video but mostly not. What I know is that he's a Spongeboomer, while I do like the classical episodes more, I don't generally dislike the newer ones.

1

u/GothMarcyWu 1h ago

I'm someone with adhd, and he's fine to me, it's literally just talking normally..?? Why are people so judgemental over his voice.

-3

u/Several_Cattle_5197 6h ago

Honestly if your whole spongebob channel is mainly talking about how trash spongebob is then it just made not interested in his content, like im not saying the show should never be criticized but most videos are about how modern SpongeBob is garbage over and over, I personally think when modern SpongeBob is bad it’s actually very bad but when it’s good it’s actually so fucking good I mean you have bangers like squid noir, mustered o mine, scavenger pants, stuck on the roof, bottle burglars just to name a few

I don't hate his content but I think I'd rather listen to nails on chalkboard than hear his voice

-1

u/ChargeMediocre8121 5h ago

I like certain things about Modern SpongeBob that he says, but not everything!! Awe has interesting things to say but, sometimes he talks about Modern SpongeBob like all of it is garbage even though it isn’t!! 👍❤️😊

Annoys me. His takes are old and worn out and his voice is stale.
