Question Let’s settle this debate. When should the show have ended or do you think it should keep going?

If it waa gonna continue after the first movie, then it should have ended when Stephen died, and the 20th anniversary episode should have been a massive love celebration for the show as a whole.

After season three if Nickelodeon was interested in respecting Stephen Hillenburg's wishes at the earliest, after Hillenburg's death at the latest (as, even if Nickelodeon didn't care about Hillenburg's wishes, it's the height of disrespect to continue making new episodes of a show he created after his death.)

Should have ended right after the creator's death (allthough I would have been fine with reruns) and no spinoffs at all

I think the show should have ended around season six. It got extremely boring for a moment there and I was pretty sure it would end any day as a teen but it just… kept going.

For real. I grew up in the immediate post movie era and the show just…sucked. Nothing original. It became way more targeted at younger kids too.

Season 3 and the first movie, period, no debate, it stops there, boom, perfect franchise.
