Math 61 CM Midterm

Is it normal to do absolutely horrible on the first midterm in Math 61 CM? How close to the median score should I be to reasonably consider staying in the class instead of switching to 51 if my goal is a B or higher? Thanks!

Yes, not only is it normal, but a rite of passage. I got a 28% on the first 61CM midterm. My advice is to stay in the class if you’re genuinely enjoying the challenge. In my experience they rarely give out grades lower than a B in this class (no promises, but I did kind of bad and still got a B and have heard this is the case), so I would say that should not be your reason for dropping.

Ok great! I'm perfectly fine getting a B in this class and I do enjoy the material a lot. When did you take 61 cm?

I took it in 2019. If you’re enjoying it, I’d say stay in it! The professor can also sometimes give you a sense of what grade you might get if you talk to them too.
