making friends

hi - I need some advice on this

I have some friends but still struggling on finding my "people"

people I'll feel happy and do interesting stuff with

I keep seeing people go to sf, la, half moon bay etc, and I want a circle that will do the same with me, be spontaneous and fun

I'm sick of being in my dorm waiting

any advice?

i was lucky to come to Stanford with two of my best friends, and connect with many friends during Freshman orientation. that made it very challenging to widen my friend group in Freshman and sophomore year.

what i would recommend is to use every point of leverage to meet others with common interests, from your dorm, clubs, classes, and indeed other friends. most will not share all your interest, may not like the same music/food/sports/friends/hobbies.... but if you're generous in casting a wider net, you will meet exceptional people who vibe with you

I'm at the best uni in the world, the prettiest campus ever and have sf right by, but I can't seem to feel happy without having the people to enjoy all this stuff with.

does it all work out? did you manage to find happiness here?

there is no such thing as best university in the world. there are places where you find happiness and fulfillment... keep looking diligently, been open to meet with very different people, and you will one by one find the ones you best vibe with
