Wait, why are you refreshing so much? Valve already said that waitlisters will probably not get a chance to buy one until next year. The reservation queue is the one that should be able to buy at some point this year. As someone on the waitlist, I wouldn't expect a purchase e-mail anytime soon.
I'm also in 2TB w/o waitlist. I hate this waiting game. I'm generally patient enough, it's the idea of not having any idea how long I'll be waiting that's brutal. Will I get an email next week, next month, or next year? Who knows.
commenting here to inform people that the US 512 w/controller queue seems to have depleted the pre randomization queue as my wife who joined after the randomization got an email to buy today. still waiting on my randomized 2TB waitlist :(
Grumpily NOT changing my queue even though the 2 TB list in the US is so dead. Seeing folks switch to 512 and get their emails. Really hoping to get the unit I want but this waitlist feels like it’s going nowhere.
Lol you should know the ones you're seeing switch are people specifically in the UK/EU switching to the 512GB with controller queue. That one in that part of the planet seems to pretty well empty. Who knows what the future holds for us in NA lol. Things could go completely differently!
The handling of queues has been abysmal in my opinion. Been on the UK waitlist for 512GB W/O Controller since day one, and there are people signing up for the 512GB W/ Controller over a month after that getting their orders.
I agree completely. I'm a 2TB no controller lottery waitlist in the USA and I'm watching people all over Europe and Australia order in late August and get emails like 10 days later. And still Valve says nothing.

Same issue here, 2TB no controller in US. I waitlisted the day things went live and still just on waitlist and haven’t seen any movement whatsoever. I literally forgot I even signed up and it hit me this morning and I thought for sure I missed the email. But no. Nothing in my mailbox or junk and still showing just on waitlist 🤷♂️

Thanks mods, genuinely so tiresome when the majority of posts are screenshots of confirmation emails, or cardboard boxes. It was the same with the Steam Deck to be fair.
I can confirm this still works. Just got off the 2TB w/controller wait list today (Oct 11) and joined the 512GB w/controller list. Received the reservation queue email and purchase email invitation 5 minutes later.
Dunno if this is the right place for this, but didn't feel worth its own thread. I moved from the waitlist to reservation queue and can complete my order now for the 2TB w/ controller. I figured it would take until either late this year, or early next year, for this to happen... so I already made other Steam Machine plans of my own. Gonna cancel it. Hope it leads to someone out there waiting for that email getting it finally.
I'm in Ireland and so tempted to switch from 512GB w/o to W/...Been on the Waitlist since June 26th with no movement, seems to me more people are getting the 512GB W/ in this part of the world...well in the Western Europe or UK (which I presume we're being lumped in with as per usual!).
But then I could switch and go further down the list if I switch...ugh.
I'm in the same boat Acrid. 2TB with controller, also Ireland. Signed up on the 28th of June, so after randomisation. Based on some of the other comments of people in Europe who signed up in early July and now have a Steam Machine (512GB with controller), we'll hopefully see our invites at some stage over the next couple of weeks (preferably sooner).
Joined the waiting list Sept 18th, and got the moved to reservation list notice on Sept 30th (US East Coast), so now waiting for the purchase email. I didn't think I would even get that far in 2026. Now with the Steam sale going on, I'm getting notifications here and there about items on my wishlist, so each time it's like a heart tripping false alarm.
I was on the 2TB w/o controller waitlist from day one. Today, I switched to the 512GB w/ controller and within three minutes entered the reservation queue and then immediately received the email to purchase. It's being prepared for shipment. I'll upgrade my SSD to 2TB when it arrives and sell the 512GB. Effectively, there appears to be no waitlist for the 512GB w/ controller in US.

Yoo people. Here is an update from Europe, Czech Republic I applied for steam machine 2tb+controller before June 28th (before randomization) and eventually was put in waitlist. I got the email notifying me that I can purchase it on August 18th midnight, next morning I bought it. Today August 21st I received the box.
And to be honest I suspect that Gabe knows something, because eventually I got my steam machine the day before my birthday! Gabe, If you are reading it now, thank you!

Got my 512 no controller order email on August 28, I'm in the USA on the East Coast. Email with tracking information came on the 31st, according to USPS should arrive on tuesday September 8!

I don’t know if I’ve just been very lucky or they’ve caught up or something but it’s only taken just over a week for me to register, receive an email saying I had 3 days to complete the order, and a follow up email saying it’ll be here in the next week. This was all for a 512 with controller.
Lol bought a Steam Machine by accident last night thinking it was the Steam Frame. My Machine was waitlisted while my Frame was reserved so I had no reason to think I got to the front of the Machine queue. I wasn't planning on buying it anymore but maybe that was just cope as I am pretty excited for it again.

Well, I did the thing and also swapped from 2TB no controller to 512GB w/controller in the US this morning and immediately got the reservation and purchase email. I had my sister test it first since I had her in the 2TB w/ Controller line for me. Sure enough, it’s still true.

Kind of regret not originally requesting the 2TB Model (with Steam Controller) only.
But I don’t truly need the Red and Wood Faceplates + can avoid installing / periodically delete my less active Steam games + can buy that microSD Memory Card instead of buying & installing a M.2 SSD, if I don’t want to potentially mess with the Valve warranty.

I went into the waitlist reservation when it opened in June. Bookmarked a 2TB w/controller and 512 w/controller.
Got the 2TB email a week and a half ago but didn’t have the funds, so I cancelled so another could have it. I also thought it just too expensive altogether v. using a Micro SD.
According to Steam Support, since I cancelled (and I was put on the model waitlist I was originally closest to, the 2TB) I therefore am at the “back of the queue” for the 512? Seems like it resets is how I understood it?
I wish this was easier to understand. I’d always assumed if you opted out of one model, you’d still be “on the list / in your place in line” for the other model.
Maybe I’m a dodo, just wish it was clearer and that the model I prefer were available.
I feel for you. It’s been a bad launch in my opinion. Still think it’ll be worth it longterm, but man it’s been so hard to find information. apparently, they instantly slotted people into the queue they were highest in and removed them from others. So you rolled higher in the 2TB, were placed in that queue, and removed from the others.

I wish I can buy it but alas money has to go somewhere else this time (probably would have insta purchased on day 1 if it were available). I saw the recent glut of 512 w/ controllers getting through really quick so figured I'd see what happens.
Haven't had a non-portable gaming computer in 6 years or so, been mostly jamming on the Steam Deck and a bunch of Android emulation handhelds. It will be nice to have something for winter TV gaming plus streaming more demanding stuff to the deck.
Seems like today, Oct. 5th, a storm of purchases are happening. UK. Grabbed 512Gb w/c purchase last Weds 30th when the waitlist > reservation > purchase process was under 5 mins. Payment processed Friday 2 October. Royal Mail notification of dispatch Monday 5th October. GLS tracking shows left Netherlands Weds 7th October. RM tracking still says “we’re expecting it”. Chances of arrival before the weekend?
RM is a shitshow right now with new DM26 processes and work structure that seems to be impacting a lot of sorting offices etc. am mildly concerned.
It's just crazy to me. It's like they made 10x as many 512 bundles, but then didn't say anything and just kind of pretend like they were all roughly equal during the lottery sign up
