With Stockport being a smaller sub, I’m thinking it might be good to have a centralised post for recommendations/ hidden gems if you will. Places/cafes/independent traders/bars/pubs that people wouldn’t usually know about.

Hi all,
My electric shower has stopped putting out hot water, landlord is making me find the plumber to sort it out.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for plumbers in Stockport, happy to pay emergency call out rates since the landlord is footing the bill

Trying to get back into playing squash and would be great to have regular weekly games.
Anyone in or around the area that'd fancy regular games at Grove Park Squash Club?

I spent Christmas at my parents in Birmingham last year and it’s so diverse that there were a few Turkish cafes open on Christmas Day its become a bit of a tradition to go for a walk and coffee in the morning.
Wondering if Stockport has any that will be open?

What a shame we have to these awful places in existence because everything independent is so expensive to execute and run.

Does anyone know the opening date for the Lidl currently being built on Wellington Road North? I’ve been monitoring the progress and it looks like the project is nearly done now (from the outside anyway), however I can’t see anything online about the expected opening date.

Hiya,
I found this phone on the Bee Network No. 11 bus to Stockport today and handed it to the bus driver when I got to Stockport Interchange. He said it will be taken in to the Bus Depot.
I asked at information and they said the owner will have to report it as lost property via the Bee Network online.
Good luck to whoever needs it & please repost into other subs if needed.

My daughter and her boyfriend are just starting to look to move to Stockport as it is more convenient. They need easy access to the train station, they are in their mid twenties, they are looking to buy their first house. Which areas should they be looking at do you think?

Hi all. Someone's child/pet has lost their little darling on the A6 (junction of A6 and Milwain Drive). I've rescued him but due to weather and traffic he's a little bit worse for wear, so I'll give him a wash and dry him out. If one of you has lost him DM me and I'll drop him off.

Hi everyone!
I’m a 23 year old woman based in Stockport, currently exploring opportunities for work in Stockport and the surrounding Manchester area.
I have professional experience in legal administration. I also have previous experience in fast food and customer service and cleaning.
I’m happy to consider pretty much anything! Whether that’s helping out at a small independent business, hospitality, cleaning, administration, retail, events or one-off odd jobs.
I’m currently considering my options around education, so I’m open to discussing different arrangements, whether that’s a couple of regular shifts each week, evenings/weekends or occasional work when needed.
I’m hardworking, friendly, reliable and more than happy to get stuck in and learn something new.
If anyone knows of any opportunities or could use an extra pair of hands, I’d love to hear from you!
I look forward to hearing from anybody and apologise that this is not the usual stuff posted in here.
Thank you for reading this far! 😊

Hi,
I’m looking to join a new gym in the Stockport area as Puregym doesn’t really fit my needs anymore.
Ideally I’m looking for a gym with a pool as well to do lengths so I don’t have to pay extra to use a local pool.
I’ve looked at the Village Gym in Cheadle as well as I think it’s called Kingfisher Health? Both seem to have gyms and a pool.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with either of these or similar facilities. I’m looking for somewhere that isn’t absolutely swamped in the morning (6:30-8).
The David Lloyd’s in Cheadle seems extortionate…
Cheers

A shiny new station might look great, but for me I’m not sure if this is this really where council money should be going.
There’s always different views and opinions in this sub, so instead of it being a debate in the comments make sure to feed it back into the Public Consultation via the website that’s been launched today.

This may have been asked before. Coming from Shaw Heath to King Street West, which lane (red or green) is correct to come off at the second exit.
I would assume red but cars come from both lanes and there are no road markings. Have seen a few near misses here. Surely the council could resolve by putting arrows on the lanes.
