21 days today

21 days today. Would have been 28, but on the 7th day I caved . So 21 days today

Was previously drinking at least 1/2 bottle bourbon from 7-10 pm and passing out

Pros
- feeling good over all
- sleep finally better
- workouts definitely improved
- no hangovers or waking yup feeling shitty and unrested

Cons
- boredom especially in the evenings when I would drink
- hard to find any entertaining shows to watch in the evenings w my wife . Previously anything would be entertaining after 8-12 ounces of bourbon
- haven’t lost any weight

Not sure if I’ll stay sober forever, would love ti be able to drink like a normal person and not binge myself to sleep

But for today … IWNDWYT

I workout 5-6 days a week which was my hobby even before I quit. It does help when I workout in the evenings .

I’ve just always been an evening/night time drinker and that time of day is still a struggle

Thank you

That last part, drink like a normal person. That’s my problem, once I start I’m going for it. I was a fifth of vodka kind of guy. Never drank daily, but would usually drink 2-3 days a week, a fifth at a time. Didn’t start that way but will go that way. Boredom is an issue. Lots of hours to fill when you’re not drunk. I’ve noticed my days off actually feel like days off now. Lots of hours and malaise to contend with early on I’m finding.

I don’t mean this in a rude way, but if drinking like a normal person was possible, none of us would be here… it’s harsh reality to face, but once you accept it things get much easier. It took me dozens of times out in the field to confirm/accept that alcoholism is not reversible.
