Strange Trending search suggestion?

Post image

What on earth could the prevention hotline be trending for? Is there a mass event I am not aware of? lol

Pretty sure trending is based on the user and not trending in the world as a whole.

I look at cats, plants, race cars, and tech stuff. Not a clue where that suggestion would even come from.

Not likely, it’s never mentioned on my post or any others.

Just cause you hadn't spoken about it didn't mean others in the subreddit haven't , they occupy a similar space , hence the overlap

omg I have a funny example of this. My boyfriend told me that recently his spotify was like, "People who listen to similar music as you also listen to these other things" and it was all like... self-help audiobooks for autism and he is not diagnosed with autism lmao

I mean, to be fair... I see the algorithm making some true connections lol BUT the point is that it really do be using "smart" averages to do basic profiling.

That doesn’t affect search results for individuals. That’s a very itty bitty teensy weensie part of data collected for Individual profiles.

I'm gonna wager a guess that it's pulling data from just pretty much anywhere. If you've been searching things lately, it could pull from that. Everyone is selling our data to these algorithm programs.

For example, I've never searched up the Six Flags incident on reddit but the name of the person who died is in my trending list. Including the ride name "Six Flags Goliath". I googled that stuff and read some news articles about it, but never interacted with the subject on reddit itself.

For reference mine currently has Enshrouded 1.0 Release, Planet Zoo 2 Release, Best of Redditor Updates, Hassan Kariem death, Six Flags Goliath Death and Katie Zacharia Legal Credentials(I literally just read an article about this bitch an hour ago lol).

Six Flags Goliath Death was actually the exact search term I used on google this afternoon.

Only things I’ve searched is work related, nothing related to it at all. Besides I use browsers that don’t store cookies and multiple tracking prevention methods.

Guess it's a mystery then.

an actor from breaking bad recently committed suicide, i’ve seen lots of posts about it including 988 to encourage others to seek help if they’re considering suicide. possibly these posts are making it a trending phrase?

Ah then that’s probably the reason. Also sad to hear, hope their family gets any help they need to deal with the loss.
